Liz Trotta Should Not Call Anyone Racist

Liz Trotta accuses the Left of racism towards Herman Cain. Her evidence is black bloggers are attacking Cain.

Let me get this straight. Blacks are racist towards themselves because they don't support Herman Cain's candidacy. By that logic Newt Gingrich hates white people because he opposed Bill Clinton in the 90s. Gingrich doesn't hate white people and black Democratic bloggers do not hate their race.

Trotta is another story. It takes a lot of chutzpah for someone who joked that President Barack Obama should be assassinated to accuse blacks of racism. Exactly when did Trotta become a civil rights activist? The answer is never.

Trotta: ...and now we have what some are reading---as a suggestion that somebody knock off Osama, umm, ah... Obama, well both, if we could...haha...

Trotta is accusing blacks of racism to draw attention from her own racism.

Adam Hasner Staying Classy

Republican Senate candidate Adam Hasner first swore to defend America from the nonexistent threat of Sharia law taking over the American legal system. Hasner is now attacking primary opponent George LeMieux's French ancestry. Hasner is sending out this bumper sticker to supporters.

Hasner is running a cynical and disgusting campaign filled with outright bigotry. It says much about the current group of Republicans that elected Hasner the victor of the CPAC Senate straw poll.

Tea Partiers aren't supporting Hasner because they expect competent governing. They want Hasner to beat up on Muslims, gays and anyone the Tea Party deems is not American. Hasner hasn't offered a coherent plan of creating jobs. Tax cuts to the rich is not a jobs plan. In fact, Hasner doesn't even have a page for his policy proposal on his campaign web site. This is how unserious Hasner is.

Hasner's campaign strategy is to be the Republican version of the 1962 George Wallace campaign. Wallace ran on calling Martin Luther King a communist and "segregation forever." Wallace and Hasner were both considered moderates earlier in their political careers. Like Wallace, Hasner realized that there were voters who would respond to being told to be scared of colored people. Hasner has been telling Republican primary voters that immigration is a grave "national security issue" and accused President Obama of not taking illegal immigration seriously. The truth is Obama has deported more illegal immigrants than any president in history. A fearmonger like Hasner will not let facts get in the way of his attacks. All that matters is gaining political power.

Support Gulf Coast Gives

Gulf Coast Gives is a Florida-based organization that gives educational scholarships and helps the uninsured get medical treatment. Manatee County has been hard hit by unemployment during the economic downturn. The charity work provided by Gulf Coast Gives is much needed. Which makes me wonder what gives Tea Party Nation member Rich Swier the right to say that Gulf Coast Gives has a radical agenda.

Is it radical for Gulf Coast Gives to provide baby strollers to poor families that has Swier so upset? Perhaps helping the elderly receive medical treatment to relief pain has Mr. Swier so worked up. Maybe when Swier was in school he hated band geeks and wants to deny Saint Stephen's Episcopal School a new baritone horn. Surely this this kind of radical agenda should not be allowed to continue.

This is what Swier deems radical.

77% of all bullying victims are picked on due to sexual orientation, gender identity, or the perception of either. LGBT youth are up to five times more likely to attempt suicide than their straight counterparts. ALSO Out Youth is the only LGBT youth organization serving both Sarasota and Manatee Counties, providing advocacy, leadership, support, and outreach since 1992. Please support ALSO in bringing Hudson Taylor to Sarasota. Hudson, an outstanding athlete, is a committed LGBT advocate and founder of Athlete Ally. This resource encourages athletes, coaches, parents, fans, and other members of the sports community, to respect all individuals involved in sports, regardless of perceived or actual sexual orientation or gender identity. Hudson hopes to encourage more effective sports education programs and help put an end to anti-gay bullying in and out of sports. Please support ALSO's campaign to bring Hudson Taylor to our area high schools and colleges. His message of stamping out bullying would be a tremendous benefit to our community!

Don't Ask, Don't Tell has been repealed. Gay marriage is no legal in New York. Apparenmtly, Swier thinks it is mainstream to encourage teens to pick on gay teens. Actually, it isn't mainstream. It is just mainstream and bigoted.

This is not bullying. It is peer pressure and is healthy. There are many bad behaviors such as smoking, under age drinking and drug abuse that are behaviors that cannot be condoned. Homosexuality falls into this category. Homosexuality is simply bad behavior that youth see as such and rightly pressure their peers to stop it. In Sarasota County over 70% of all HIV/AIDS cases are due to male sex with males.

I agree with Gulf Coast Gives that "LGBT youth are up to five times more likely to attempt suicide than their straight counterparts". Homosexuality, like drugs, harms young people if they experement with it. That is the greatest tragedy.

Swier floats the scientifically unfounded myth that homosexuality is a sickness. It is pure B.S.

You can support Gulf Coast Gives by buying a give card.

Scott & Bondi Reject Jenkins Nomination

Attorney General Pam Bondi once again politically aligned herself with Gov. Rick Scott. This time they both rejected Cassandra Jenkins from being reappointed to the Parole Commission.

Scott said this about Jenkins.

“We’re trying to make sure that their first priority is public safety,” Scott said. Asked if that was meant to say that that wasn’t Jenkins’ first priority, Scott said Jenkins was welcome to reapply.

“Whoever we pick, their first priority is going to be public safety,” Scott said.

Bondi on Jenkins.

“It’s a public safety issue to me,” Bondi said after the meeting, after listing several criminals to whom Jenkins voted to grant parole even though they’d committed serious crimes. “It’s a serious public safety issue when it involves serial rapists and murderers.”

Scott and Bondi did not cite any evidence against Jenkins fitness to serve on the Parole Commission.

Side note: Jenkins is black and was placed on the Parole Commission with the help of former Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink.

Side note 2: Scott ran an ad titled "Obama's Mosque." Scott falsely labeled Obama a member of the Islamic faith, in order to stoke fear.

Side note 4: A former employeee of Scott's company Solantic told Salon.com that Scott was against the hiring of Hispanics and Muslims because they were not "clean-cut" enough.

Conservative will argue that Scott isn't racist because he has a black Lt. Governor that has no role in formulating policy.

Ban This Racist Facebook Page

Someone had the horrible idea to create the Facebook page "The Fried Chiken and Crack Cocaine Depot." The page is for a fake restaurant. An offensive picture of two black men staring at a roosted chicken recalls black mistrel shows. The adddress for the fake restaurant in the black neighborhood in the Compton section of Los Angeles.

I am asking readers to report this page to Facebook. There is no reason this fake restaurant should be listed. The only goal of this page is to promote negative racial stereotypes. Help me take this page off of Facebook.

Harry Barbour Out

Haley Barbour announced that he would not for President.

"I will not be a candidate for president next year. This has been a difficult, personal decision, and I am very grateful to my family for their total support of my going forward, had that been what I decided.”

A candidate for president today is embracing a 10-year commitment to an all-consuming effort, to the virtual exclusion of all else,” Mr. Barbour said. “His (or her) supporters expect and deserve no less than absolute fire in the belly from their candidate. I cannot offer that with certainty, and total certainty is required.”

A major reason Barbour is not running is that his PAC raised only $1,081,643. Haley's PAC has $391,610 on hand. That level of fundraising would not be able to compete with President Barack Obama in a general election.

Another problem for Barbour is he spoke to the Council for Conservative Citizens. Scan the Council for Conservative Citizens' web site and you can quickly figure out it is a white supremacy group. The web site features a link to "Boycott Thor". Apparently, the Council of Conservative Citizens is in an uproar over black actor Idris Elba (Stringer Bell in The Wire) playing a Norse God in Thor. The Council for Conservative Citizens are racists and comic book geeks. Getting laid isn't high on their agenda.

The Council also has the Derek Black Radio Show on their blogroll. Black is the son of former Klu Klux Klan grand wizard Don Black.

Barbour's racist history would kill him running against a sitting black president. And deservingingly so. Good riddance to the Barbour presidential campaign.

Another Racist Obama Photoshop Email

Ever notice that people who are racist defend themselves by saying they have black friends. Case in point is Orange County, California tea party activist Marilyn Davenport. This is what she told the OC Weekly.

Reached by telephone and asked if she thought the email was appropiate, Davenport said, "Oh, come on! Everybody who knows me knows I am not a racist. It was a joke. I have friends who are black. Besides, I only sent it to a few people--mostly people I didn't think would be upset by it."

I like to see racists forced to produce these mysterious black friends they have. A journalist should ask these people if they could meet their black friends. Bigots should get called on their B.S.

Below is the image and message Davenport sent out.

"Now you know why no birth certificate.

Davenport is a birther, tea party activist, a member of the Orange County Republican Party central committee and thinks photoshops of Obama as a money is hysterical. I really like to see her produce her black friends. Davenport won't be able to do it because her black friends don't exist.

Wingnut Alert: Another Republican Racist Photoshop of Obama

The Sacramento Republicans thought placing President Barack Obama on an image with Osama bin Laden was a great idea. Nothing gets the juices of the GOP base going like a little xenophobic. If that wasn't enough, Sacramento Republicans want to waterboard Obama. Apparently, waterboarding is only torture when it is done to a Democratic president.

This isn't the first time racist imagery of Obama has been distributed by conservative groups. In California: The Chaffey Community Republican Women issued a mock Obama bill. Locally, tea party activist David McKalip emailed out an image of Obama as a witch doctor. Tea party gubernatorial candidate Carl Palladino emailed an image of Barack and Michelle Obama dressed as a pimp and a prostitute.

This isn't a few bad apples. This is the status quo. Donald Trump is courting the xenophobic fraction of the Republican base by questioning Obama's citizenship. The infamous Willie Horton ad was used to help Republican turnout for George H.W. Bush. Alan Simpson noted that members of the Republican Party are "homophobic" and "anti-women." The Southern Strategy is alive and well in the Republican Party.

Rick Scott Makes 8 Worst Governors List

Alternet released its list of the eight worst governors in America. As a Floridian, I am proud to say Rick Scott made the list.

1. He rejected $2.4 billion in stimulus money to build a high-speed rail line from Tampa to Orlando.

2. He wants to slash $4 billion in spending while cutting taxes for millionaires.

3. He tried to use state funds to build golf courses in state parks while cutting education by 10 percent and corporate taxes by 5 percent.

4. He's requiring 600,000 government workers (including police officers, teachers, firefighters, judges, and retirees) to contribute 5 percent to their retirement.

5. He just lopped off $2,300 a year in teacher salary to give massive tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy.

He's also not a fan of black people. He proposed eliminating state support for two HBCUs (Historically black colleges and universities). He's shutting down a state agency that assists minority businesses, and he refuses to appoint an African American to any significant position in his administration.

Several employees of Solantic have accused Scott of practicing racism, in his hiring practices. Scott ran the blatantly racist ad titled "Obama's Mosque." President Obama does not own a mosque or worship the Islamic faith. A person wouldn't know that from watching Scott's campaign ad. Scott implied that anyone that worshipped the Islamic faith supported terrorism. Scott offended the black caucus by saying they all grew up in the projects with uneducation parents.

"I grew up probably in the same situation as you guys," Scott said to the group of 20 Democrats. "I started school in public housing. My dad had a sixth-grade education."

Scott's pathetic attempt at empathy came off as insensitive, as Fuzzy Zoeller's infamous "fried chicken" comment.

Why Solantic Should Not Handle State Drug Tests

Fun fact number one: Rick Scott is the co-founder and owner of Solantic; a chain of health care clinics in Florida.

Fun fact number 2: Solantic provides drug testing.

Fun fact number 3: Scott signed an executive order to have state employees randomly be drug tested. Scott also supports legislation that makes it mandatory for welfare recipients to be drug tested.

"Floridians deserve to know that those in public service, whose salary are paid with taypayer dollars, are part of a drug-free workplace," Scott said. "Just as it is appropriate to screen those seeking taypayer assistance, it is also appropiate to screen government employees."

Joy-Ann Reid pointed out that state workers could provide Solantic with 170,000 more people to drug test yearly. That adds up to a handsome profit. It is troubling that Scott transferred his Solantic stocks to his wife. The proper way of handling ownership of Solantic was to have a blind trusthandle Scott's stocks. Scott's wife can not be seriously considered a neutral third party.

Several former employees of Solantic accused Scott of discrimantion, in hiring practices.

After the attacks on Sept. 11, Yarian says Scott phoned him and stated that he should be careful not to hire anyone of Middle Eastern descent because they might scare off customers. At the time, Yarian was willing to exercise the directive as part of the collective shock the country was going through.

Scott was also against the hiring of overweight or Hispanic health care workers. Scott wanted employees he deemed "mainstream." Yarian was fired after complaining about Scott's hiring directive to Karen Bowling. Yarian was later fired. Yarian won an $80,000 out-of-court settlement against Solantic.

Bowling admitted in a deposition that Yarian complained to her about Scott's discriminating hiring policy, in a deposition.

"He did express concerns that we -- that he didn't believe in the hiring practices, and how do you interpret what's presentable," she said. "And alluded to overweight people."

Other employees have won lawsuits against Solantic. Solantic was caught illegally using the medical licenses of two doctors. Solantic was forced to legally settle with Dr. P. Mark Glencross.

Dr. Randy Prokes accused Solantic of defrauding Medicare. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services stepped in to investigate. It is unclear how the investigation has progressed.

Floridians should ask themselves do they trust their governor on health care issues. Speaking for myself, I am more willing to invest faith in a snake than our governor.

Dick Greco's Latest Racist Comment

I gave Dick Greco the last time he made a racially charged statement. Greco did it again to black Mayoral candidate Tom Scott.

Then the four – Rose Ferlita was absent – were asked: Tell the person to your left what job he would hold in your administration if you were elected mayor.

Buckhorn to Greco: Ambassador to the world.

Turanchik to Buckhorn: Deputy mayor for economic development.

Scott to Turanchik: Head of mass transit.

Greco to Scott: "My driver, to take me home from MacDinton's."

To add context: earlier in the debate the candidates were asked which one of the four would they choose to be a designated driver. Greco Buckhorn and Turanchik agrred on Scott. The latter is a well-known religious leader in the East Tampa community. When asked what job the winner of the election would choose for the other Greco said to Scott, "My driver, to take me home from MacDinton's."

Scott told Greco that Scott apologized to him after the event. Greco said that was false.

"Apologize for what?" he said. "There's not a prejudiced bone in my body."

Voters, do not give Greco another term. The man has lost his mind.

Conspiracy Theory Wingnuts Unite

Tea Party Nation founder Judson Phillips writes posts that read like fake op-eds from The Onion. Phillips ran with the conspiracy theory that President Barack Obama received campaign contributions from Hamas. Phillips got this conspiracy theory from racist blogger Pamela Geller. If anyone doubts Geller is a racist they should read her pushing the theory of white genocide in South Africa. This nonsense has been forwarded by former Klu Klux Klan member David Duke.

Geller:

"The white genocide is heating up in South Africa: South Africa race tension grows. The whites in South Africa are keenly aware of the plans to kill them, better known as 'The night of the long knives'. They expect it to happen very soon after the death of Mandela, but to tell this to the world is a waste of energy. Atlas has been reporting on this horror that the savages in the media ignore."

I have searched in the past for mainstream news articles of genocide of whites in South Africa. None exist. Google searches revealed only white supremist web sites and right-wing bloggers writing about this story. These racist web sites always claim genocide of whites is happening in South Africa without ever saying when and where these events taken place.

I get Tea Party Nation emails and Phillips spiels out bizarre conspiracy theories daily. Phillips sent out an email titled "Another Liberal Bites the Dust." I had to go to the Tea Party Nation to find out which radical liberal is no more. Hilarty ensues.

Jim Webb, the liberal Senator from Virginia has announced he is not seeking reelection. He said in a statement, that he "decided to return to the private sector." Translation, I have read the tea leaves for 2012 and my election will look like Custer's last stand.

That is the first time I have ever seen the words "Jim Webb" and "liberal" used in the same sentence. Webb served in the Reagan administration. Phillips has no idea what a liberal is.

Jared Loughner & American Renaissance

Tea Party Nation is blaming the the Left for alleged shooter Jared Loughner's rampaged that left Rep. Gabrielle Giffords wounded and six others dead. The Department of Homeland Security is investigating if Loughner has ties to the anti-semitic group American Renaissance. AR swears it has no ties to Loughner and is not racist. The homepage of American Renaissance's web site reveals a hate group. Here are some of their article descriptions.

Update: Judson Phillips sent this message out to his Tea Party Nation followers. The message is blame the Left for the shooting. Phillips fails to explain why the Left would target one of their own.

The hotheads on the left have been using Twitter, Facebook and other social media to spout off for the last 24 hours. Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas fired off a tweet saying, “Mission accomplished Sarah Palin.” Hotheads like him will fade. Next week we will see a more serious attack from those who are the masters at the dark arts of media and politics.

This attack has already started and you can see the liberal meme forming. They will say the tone and rhetoric from conservatives and the Tea Party is responsible for this crime. In Politico today, first an unnamed “Republican” (read RINO) Senator said, “tone matters.” Politico then quoted an unnamed Democratic operative who followed the same “tone matters” line, blaming the “overheated rhetoric” for the shooting, then saying Obama should “deftly pin this on the Tea Partiers,” just like Clinton placed the blame for the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995.

In 1995, Clinton then tried to blame conservative talk radio, especially Rush Limbaugh, for the terrorist bombing. The tactic worked then, backing conservatives off and possibly helping to ensure a second Clinton term.

The line we will see for the next few weeks is going to be that rhetoric and tone of the message from the Tea Party is responsible for this attack. Let’s ignore the fact that this guy was not only nuts, but also a card carrying liberal. The hard left is going to try and silence the Tea Party movement by blaming us for this.

In a decent world, we could all take a moment to mourn for those killed by a liberal lunatic. Political civility is long since dead and the left will not let us do this.

So be it.

The left is coming and will hit us hard on this. We need to push back harder with the simple truth. The shooter was a liberal lunatic. Emphasis on both words.

Where does one get their liberal card?

Phillips' proof that Loughner is an Business Insider article quoting a Twitter user saying Loughner smoked a lot of pot and listened to classic rock in high school. The same could be said about filmmaker Kevin Smith. Phillips' evidense proves nothing. There is also no evidence that Loughner was involved in the Tea Party movement. Why Phillips and others on the Right are doing pushback is because violent rhetoric has been used for so long by Sarah Palin, Fox News and the Tea Party movement against the Left. The recent shooting his what reality looks like. Their fantasy world bubble has been popped and they are doing damage control.

Quote of the Day

"What if [Obama] is so outside our comprehension, that only if you understand Kenyan, anti-colonial behavior, can you begin to piece together [his actions]? That is the most accurate, predictive model for his behavior."

Newt Gingrich

So to understand Obama we need to understand black Kenyans whom did not want to be British rule. Gingrich proposes the essence of Obama is the Kenyatta political movement. This is racist in so many ways. Gingrich panders to the birthers who do not believe Obama is a United States citizens. Gingrich also links a black political movement and calls it radical. In Gingrich's mind white Americans who opposed British rule are heroes. Blacks who oppose British rule are "outside our comprehension."

Obama was elected by a majority of the American people. Gingrich is hinting that Obama isn't an American citizen. Ask yourself which person is outside the mainstream.

I'm 'Shocked' To See Racist Signs At Tea Party Rallies

Fox News and Republicans will tell you they never ever see racist signs at Tea Party rallies. Conservatives apparently can't see obnoxious signs that stand 20 feet tall. It reminds me of the scene from scene from Casablanca. Inspector Renault was "shocked" to find out there was gambling going on in Rick's Café Américain.

Quote of the Day

"[As I was driving up her today, I saw that bumper sticker that absolutely incenses me. It's not the Obama bumper sticker. But it's the bumper sticker that says, 'Co-exist.' And it has all the little religious symbols on it. And the reason why I get upset, and every time I see one of those bumper stickers, I look at the person inside that is driving. Because that person represents somethingthat would give away our country. Would give away who we are, our rights and freedoms and liberties because they are afraid to stand up and confront that which is the antithesis, anathema of who we are. The liberities that we want to enjoy."

No Koran Burning For Dove World Outreach Center

I previously wrote about the Dove World Outreach Center was planning their Burn a Koran Day and No Homo Mayor Protest against Mayor Craig Lowe. How did Mayor Love get attached with the Muslim community? I let Dove World Outreach Center blogger Fran Ingram explain.

Free speech is hated by homosexuals and they do not like to hear the truth about their perverted lifestyle. We are protesting our openly homosexual Mayor Aug 2. Maybe they did it, (not the Mayor himself, surely) but the more likely trigger for this attack is the burn a Koran Day plan.

Free speech is not Sharia compliant, and the Moslem Mafia (CAIR) is openly opposed to our signs and message. But this is America and we have the law on our side. The police defend us and our rights, the Fire Department have no problem with our having a bonfire on 9/11, and we will not be silenced.

Apparently, Ingram comes from the Dr. Laura school of free speech. It is not that gays, lesbians and Muslims hate free speech. They are using their right to free speech to voice their opposition to your church's attacks against them. The Dove World Outreach Center has a frre speech right to voice their disapproval to gays and Muslims and visa versa. However, Gene Prince, interim chief of Gainesville Fire Rescue told the church book burning is a serious no no.

Deputy Chief Tim Hayes, who serves as the department's fire marshal, said he and an investigator went to the church's 20-acre property on Northwest 37th Street earlier this month to determine what the burn would entail.

Under the fire ordinances the City Commission adopted last year, bonfires aren't allowed without a permit, Hayes said.

Under Section 10-63, "Open burning and outdoor burning are prohibited in the City of Gainesville unless otherwise specifically permitted as provided by this article."

The section goes on to prohibit burning newspaper, corrugated cardboard, container board or office paper, which are akin to books, Prince said.

The whole book burning thing has a Fahrenheit 451 vibe to it. Never a good idea.

The Dove World Outreach Center is against Mayor Lowe because he was an opponent of Charter 1. If Charter 1 passed the LGBT community would literally have no legal rights. Below is the wording of the charter.

Shall the City Charter Be Amended to prohibit the adoption or enforcement of ordinances, regulations, rules, or policies that provide protected status, preferences, or discrimination claims based on classification, characteristics, or orientations not recognized by the Florida Civil Rights Act? The act recognizes, race, color, creed, religion, gender, national origin, age, handicap, marital and familial status. Additionally, this amendment voids existing ordinances concerning sexual orientation, gender identity, and other ordinances inconsistent with this amendment.

Lowe made this statement when he was still a city council member.

“They have rejected the politics of fear and instead chose to retain the values that make our city such a beautiful place. Today, our voters showed their true character by emphasizing that, in Gainesville, every person matters.“

What is a far-rightwing church to do when a progressive community won't let them burn Korans or tell gays to get on the back of the bus?

Wingnut Alert: American Family Association

Via Americablog: the American Family Association decides the freedom of religion in the First amendment does not apply to Muslims. The AFA posted a message on their blog Rightly Concerned advocating for no new mosques should be built in the United States. The AFA republished the 1991 rantings of an extremist Islanic group to make their case. The Cordoba Initiative imam Feisal Abdul Rauf has a long history of being anti-al-Qaeda. facts don't matter to people who place more value on bigotry than common sense.

Below is part of the AFA blog post by Bryan Fischer.

Permits should not be granted to build even one more mosque in the United States of America, let alone the monstrosity planned for Ground Zero. This is for one simple reason: each Islamic mosque is dedicated to the overthrow of the American government.

Each one is a potential jihadist recruitment and training center, and determined to implement the “Grand Jihad” of which Andy McCarthy has written.

Here is the strategy, in their own words, in the words of “An Explanatory Memorandum” circulated by the Muslim Brotherhood in 1991 which outlines “the General Strategic Goal” for the Islamic movement “in North America.”

David Patterson Caves to Bigots

Count Gov. David Patterson as those caving in to the intolerant rants against the Ground Zero mosque. Patterson is willing to give state land to the Cordoba House if it is moved farther away from Ground zero.

"Frankly, if the sponsors were looking for property anywhere at a distance that would be such that it would accommodate a better feeling among the people who are frustrated, I would look into trying to provide them with the state property they would need," Paterson said at a Manhattan press conference.

The Atlantic blogger Jeffery Goldberg notes, "Feisal Abdul Rauf, is an enemy of al Qaeda, no less than Rudolph Giuliani and the Anti-Defamation League are enemies of al Qaeda." That won't stop the anti-religious rants of Joe Lieberman John McCain or Sarah Palin from anti-Islanic attacks. Republicans have spents the last decade being wrong about national security issues. Even the Bush administration never publicly disrespected American Muslims at this level.

The Sarah Palin Effect

Tennessee Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey supports the First amendment right to freedom of religion. Except when the religion is worshipped is Islam.

"Now, you could even argue whether being a Muslim is actually a religion, or is it a nationality, way of life, cult whatever you want to call it," Ramsey said. "Now certainly we do protect our religions, but at the same time this is something we are going to have to face."

More pearls of wisdom from Ramsey.

"Now, you know, I'm all about freedom of religion. I value the First Amendment as much as I value the Second Amendment as much as I value the Tenth Amendment and on and on and on," he said. "But you cross the line when they try to start bringing Sharia Law here to the state of Tennessee -- to the United States. We live under our Constitution and they live under our Constitution."

Could Mr. Ramsey enlighten us and say who is bringing Sharia Law into Tennessee. The state has laws on the books. Did Muslims tear up the law books and force the Tennessee courts and law enforcement to enforce Sharia Law? If not then Mr. Ramsey either has a bad grasp on reality or he is pandering to racists. Mr. Ramsey should read George Washington's letter to to the Jews of Newport to get a lesson in tolerance.

Ramsey's comments were aimed at Muslim community center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Sarah Palin's Twitter posts attacking a mosque in New York City have given Republicans the green light to attack Muslims in a racist and anti-religious manner. Bigotry is not an American value. George Washington made that point clear.

"It is now no more that toleration is spoken of as if it were the indulgence of one class of people that another enjoyed the exercise of their inherent natural rights, for, happily, the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens in giving it on all occasions their effectual support."
