Mike Pence Has Always Been Anti-Gay

The New Civil Rights Movement did some digging and found web archive of Mike Pence's 2000 Congressional campaign website. It turns out that even back then Pence was staunchly anti-gay.

The thing about bigots is they are cowards and will never have the conviction to stand by their principles. Pence may try to run away from his anti-gay positions but the internet will archive everything.

Wingnut of the Day: Michael Willette

Maine state Republican Senator Michael Willette thought it was a good idea to post this anti-Obama status on Facebook.

Willette is now backtracking from his less than brilliant Facebook post.

“I apologize for posting this on Facebook. Like too many people these days, I fell into the trap of posting something first and then thinking later. It was an error in judgment,” he said.

It is bad enough to post a racist post. It is quite another thing for Willette to not have the courage to stand by his racist rant.

Side note: I continue to be amazed at how Republicans think the President that ordered the attack on Osama bin Laden somehow loves terrorists.

Racist of the Day

Jim Boggess is the owner of Jimbo’s Deli in Flemington, New Jersey. Boggess had the idea to hang a "White History Month" sign in the window of his restaurant.

In case you doubt that Boggess is a racist - keep in mind that he also hung a Klu Klux Klan T cross in his window.

“The ‘white’ had a cross. It was a cross ‘t,’ which is used by the Ku Klux Klan as a symbol, right,” resident Bhakti Curtis tells CBS New York. The 't' in question has since been changed.

The sign has since been removed. Apparently, Boggess learned that being a blatant racist isn't the greatest marketing strategy.

Mike Huckabee: Lightweight

Think Progress asked Mike Huckabee to cite an example of how gay marriage is negatively impacting Iowa. Huckabee couldn't cite a specific example. He just went into talking points mode.

“Iowans voted differently than the judges ruled, so you’ve got a conflict between the people and the judges,” he told ThinkProgress. “Ultimately, most states have made clear their position on it. The battle hasn’t been with the people. The battle has been with a handful of people in black robes.”

What is interesting is Republicans are no longer trying to make bogus science arguments. Conservatives used to trot out fake anti-gay experts like George "Rent Boy" Rekers. Now they dodge the prior bogus science on how homosexuality is a lifestyle choice. Ben Carson's comments on men deciding to become homosexual entering prison was so laughable that it was mocked by Glenn Beck.

Republicans have lost the public argument on gay marriage. Part of the reason is the GOP has politicians as dumb as Huckabee. How could Huckabee not see the question of the impact of gay marriage? Lightweight.

Ron Paul served in the House of Representatives. He could walk down the hall or pick up the phone to find out why the Black Caucus is against wars. Of course, that would require actual work on his part.

You know why Ron Paul had a racist newsletter? The reason is Paul has some incredibly racist views. This is what Paul told the Dallas Morning News in defense of an article he wrote for his newsletter.

“If you have ever been robbed by a black teenaged male, you know how unbelievably fleet of foot they can be.”

This guy is horrible.

Write A Caption: John Stemberger Edition

Anyone else see the problem with noted gay marriage basher John Stemberger wearing a "God Over Money" T-shirt while standing in front of his Lexus? Stemberger posted this comedy masterpiece on Twitter. Stemberger is a fan of ant-gay rights rapper Bizzle. I never heard the song since I don't hangout with Christian Right hipsters. Joe Jervis explains.

Florida hate group leader and fly champagne Lexus owner John Stemberger is referring to Bizzle, the rapper who was so outraged by the weddings at this year's Grammys that he issued a parody of Macklemore's Same Love in which he compared homosexuality to pedophilia and mental retardation with a bonus reference to Down Syndrome for extra Christian Love™ points. Courageous and godly!

I look forward to Stemberger discovering the Christian lyrics of NWA.

Wingnut Alert: Stephen Steinlight

Via Peacock Panache: Stephen Steinlight is a policy analyst at the Center for Immigration Studies. If you don't know who he is. Don't feel so bad. I never heard of the guy before today.

The Center for Immigration Studies was founded by John Tanton. To say Tanton is a racist would be an understatement. Only a racist like Tanton would write a paper titled "The Case for Passive Eugenics." Tanton's paper is only four pages long. This is the final paragraph.

As with euthanasia, active eugenics will deservedly continue to be rejected by most persons, but passive eugenics should elicit their support. Far from being racist or genocidal, it seeks to improve the potential of minority groups, which will do more for their prospects than any increase in numbers which might be foregone through larger family size and reproduction outside the years of reproductive efficiency. Further, the beneficial demo-graphic effect of limiting the size of the human community will assure that more resources are available to nurture each child that is born.

Think Progress found a quote of Tanton desiring America to have a white majority. You know what kind of people want a white majority? White supremacists.

“I’ve come to the point of view that for European-American society and culture to persist requires a European-American majority, and a clear one at that.”

Steinlight is even more open and outlandish than Tanton in his views on immigration. The Southern Poverty Law Center has this outrageous quote by Steinlight.

But the history of CIS make clear that it has always been part of a broad-based and well-planned effort to attack immigration in all forms. CIS Senior Policy Analyst Stephen Steinlight pretty much captured CIS' brand of "independent" analysis when he told the Inter Press Service News Agency in 2005 that immigration threatens "the American people as a whole and the future of Western civilization."

Therefore it is not surprising that Steinlight would advocate for the impeachment and hanging of President Barack Obama. You can hear cheers from the few elderly tea party attendees.

"A rash of opinion polls which have come out, not push polls, real polls, including one by Gallup that showed that 65 percent of the American people don’t want any part of an Obama-style immigration reform. But the idea of this [lawsuit] is vintage Boehner, it’s a political loser. There is no court that is going to stop Obama from doing anything. We all know, if there ever was a president that deserved to be impeached, it’s this guy. Alright? I mean, I wouldn’t stop. I would think being hung, drawn, and quartered is probably too good for him."

Boca Raton Racist Flies KKK Flag

Only in Florida.

A Boca Raton resident going by the name "Mr. Hayes" is flying the Klu Klux Klan flag, a noose and the Confederate flag in his front yard. This guy is proud of being a racist.

"As many people know, the white families are producing less children because the father and mother work and you have interracial marriages and gay marriages, so there are less and less white children being born every day," the man, who would only identify himself as Mr. Hayes, told Local 10's Roger Lohse. "So we're against that."

"Mr. Hayes" says he does not practice violence. However, the noose is a symbol of the lynching of black people during the ugly Jim Crow era of American history. Mr. Hayes is from New York yet hangs a Conferate flag. He isn't hanging that flag to celebrate his Southern heritage. That is for damn sure.

Homophobic Slurs Hurled at Charlie Crist

It is bad when conservative blogger (and no fan of Charlie Crist) Javier Manjarres takes Charlie Crist's side over the Fort Lauderdale Tea Party. Crist did a book signing in Broward County. Manjarres reports that the Fort Lauderdale Tea Party greeted Crist with homophobic slurs.

The group of about twenty, some being associated with the Fort Lauderdale Tea Party, which still camps out on a busy street intersection every Saturday, looking more like homeless Occupy Wall Street protesters than anything else, decided that it was ‘OK’ to yell out, “Charlie, you look like an AIDS victim.”

Manjarres makes a point that political activists on the Left and the Right should heed.

We all disagree with Charlie Crist’s politics. Because Americans have a First Amendment right to do so, some of us use a pen and a keyboard to raise awareness to Crist historic policy flip-flops, while others will prefer to hold up signs on a street corner and protest their disappointment and disagreement with Charlie.

But to yell out offensive remarks like this has no place in politics, let alone society.

Amen.

More Tea Party Nation Madness

Daniel R. Quintiliani ran the headline "Barack Hussein Obama: The New Leader of Al Qaeda" in his Tea Party Nation post. Quintiliani doesn't back his dubious claim in his post. In fact, I do recall that President Obama order the attack on Osama bin Laden's compound. I'm willing to bet Al Qaeda wasn't too happy about that.

Not only does Quintiliani claim that President Obama has somehow taken the reigns of Al Qaeda; John McCain is the Anti-Christ. I'm laughing as I write this post.

John McCain, whose positions on war, executive power, and surveillance are 100% in agreement with a future Biblical Antichrist, is now promoting his blasphemous beliefs that Muslim terrorist threats are equivalent to a Christian thanking God.

I wasn't aware that Satan had a position on the Patriot Act. I got to brush up on the New Testament.

Quintiliani has Obama and McCain in a three way with Al Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood. That would actually be a gang bang, but let's cut Quintiliani some slack on his math.

Barack Hussein Obama, John McCain, and every other politician who supports war with Syria is guilty of the deaths of all people the Obama/Al Qaeda/Muslim Brotherhood Three-Way Pact kill. And all of these deaths are equivalent to an additional American being killed on 9/11.

Quintiliani is calling McCain the Anti-Christ. The reason is McCain attacked Fox and Friends host Brian Kilmeade for making racially insensitive remarks against Muslims. Quintiliani refers to our President as "Barack Hussein Obama." I seriously doubt someone as xenophobic as Quintiliani is concerned about the welfare of the Syrian people.

Rand Paul's Offensive Syria Remark

Republicans have been allowed to say racist shit for so long. Case in point is Senator Rand Paul on Meet the Press. Paul's reasoning for why the United States should not take military action on Syria is because Paul believes Bashar al-Assad is only killing Muslims.

“I don’t see American interests involved on either side of this Syrian war. I see [Bashar] Assad, who has protected Christians for a number of decades, and Islamic rebels on the other side who have been attacking Christians,” Paul said.

Paul comes from the Glenn Reynolds libertarian school of genocide against all Muslims. Fighting the entire Muslim population on the planet is impossible. The only way this makes sense is when people like Paul and Reynolds view national security through their racist beliefs. This other quote from MTP tips Paul's hand.

"I think the Islamic rebels winning is a bad ide for the Christians, and all of a sudden we'll have another Islamic state where Christians are persecuted," Paul said on NBC's "Meet the Press.

Paul has publicly voiced his opposition to the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, and the Fair Housing Act. Paul hired neo-Confederate Jack Hunter to write his biography. It is certainly fair to question Paul's bizarre racial views.

Steve King's Lame Anti-immigration Rally

Iowa Republican Congressman Steve King traveled from Washington D.C. to Virginia for a highly-billed anti-immigration rally. There was just one problem. According to Politico, only 60 attended.

“Now think what that is,” King said to the 60 or so attendees at the rally. “If you bring people from a violent civilization into a less-violent civilization, you’re going to have more violence right? It’s like pouring hot water into cold water, does it raise the temperature or not?”

So now King is calling Mexicans violent savages. King bases this on no factual evidence.

Speaking of hot water, King got into some when he made the bizarre claim that Mexican children were drug mules and had "hands the size of cantaloupes."

He cites those illegals who were brought to the United States by their parents as young children, for instance. "Some of them are valedictorians —and their parents brought them in. It wasn't their fault. It's true in some cases, but they aren't all valedictorians. They weren't all brought in by their parents. "For everyone who's a valedictorian, there's another 100 out there who weigh 130 pounds —and they’ve got hands the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert,” King tells Newsmax. “Those people would be legalized with the same act."

Housr Speaker John Boehner is going out of his way to distance himself from King. The xenophobia of tea party politicians like King have np true grassroots support. That doesn't stop the media from covering King and helping him spread his hateful rhetoric.

Wingnut of the Day: Rep. Steve King

Republican Rep. Steve King can't help but say racist things about Hispanics. King told Newsmax that the children of illegal immigrant are actually drug mules.

He cites those illegals who were brought to the United States by their parents as young children, for instance.

How does King know that these children have "hands the size of cantaloupes"? Has King personally examined children of illegal immigrants. King says these crazy things without any facts. King doubled down and told Breitbart News that what he said was the gospel truth.

In an interview with Breitbart News on Wednesday, King pushed back against the Republican backlash by calling on people to review his remarks. He said, “they will understand that what I said is objective, it’s true and it cannot be logically challenged.”

Even fellow Republicans aren't buying it and are distancing themselves from King.

House Speaker John Boehner

“There can be honest disagreements about policy without using hateful language,” Boehner said in his statement. “Everyone needs to remember that.”

"Hateful language" is a polite way of Boehner admitting that King sounds like a racist.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor

”I strongly disagree with his characterization of the children of immigrants and find the comments inexcusable.”

Let's make things clear. Steve King is never going to march in a civil rights rally. King's has shown public disdain for gays and lesbians. King is against ENDA and made these bizarre remarks to Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council.

KING: And he said, “let me ask you a question.” “Am I heterosexual or am I homosexual?” And they looked him up and down, actually they should have known, but they said, “We don’t know.” And he said, “Exactly, my point. If you don’t project it, if you don’t advertise it, how would anyone know to discriminate against you?” And that’s at the basis of this. So if people wear their sexuality on their sleeve and then they want to bring litigation against someone that they would point their finger at and say, “You discriminate.” …This is the homosexual lobby taking it out on the rest of society and they are demanding affirmation for their lifestyle, that’s at the bottom of this.

King went as far as to accuse Attorney Eric Holder and President Barack Obama of racism. I love how racists project their faults on others.

When you look at this administration, I'm offended by Eric Holder and the President also, their posture. It looks like Eric Holder said that white people in America are cowards when it comes to race. And I don't know what the basis of that is but I'm not a coward when it comes to that and I'm happy to talk about these things and I think we should. But the President has demonstrated that he has a default mechanism in him that breaks down the side of race - on the side that favors the black person.

I hope the people in King's district are proud of their elected representative.

Robert Zimmerman Jr. Promotes Racism on CNN

“We have to grow from this. I want to know what makes people angry enough to attack someone the way that Trayvon Martin did. I want to know, if it is true, and I don’t know that it was true, that Trayvon Martin was looking to procure firearms, was growing marijuana plants, or was making lean, or whatever he was doing. I want to know that every minor, high schooler, that would be reaching out in some way for help—and they may feel it’s by procuring firearms or whatever they may be doing—that they have some kind of help."

Robert Zimmerman Jr., on CNN

Robert Zimmerman Jr. was asked on CNN how he could help heal the racial rift in America. Zimmerman responded by accusing Trayvon Martin of attempting to acquire a gun and grow marijuana. Zimmerman racially played-up Trayvon Martin as an angry thug. Zimmerman has no interest in racially healing America. Zimmerman used an opportunity to racial understanding to racially stereotype Trayvon Martin.

Jim Allen's Racist Rant Against Erika Harold

Erika Harold is a former Miss America and Harvard law graduate. You would think people would have respect for Harold's accomplishment. Apparently, Jim Allen, Republican chairman of Montgomery County, Illinois, makes up a total racist fiction in his mind about Harold's background. This was the blog comment Allen originally posted at Republican News Watch. The comment has been deleted.

“Rodney Davis will win and the love child of the D.N.C. will be back in S---cago [Expletive deleted] by May of 2014 working for some law firm that needs to meet their quota for minority hires,” Allen wrote in the email. “ . . . Miss queen is being used like a street walker and her pimps are the DEMOCRAT PARTY and RINO REPUBLICANS.”

I have blogged about so many racist Republican emails, flyers and blog comments that it is now old hat. Republicans can't just say it is just a few bad apples. THere is a racism problem in the GOP.

Florida Democratic Party Goes After Scott's Driver's License Veto.

For once the Florida Democratic Party is doing something smart by hammering Gov. Rick Scott for vetoing the right for immigrants with Deferred Action status from obtaining driver licences is stupid politics. Scott still thinks the tea party is a driving force. The Pew Research Center showed how President Obama beat Mitt Romney with Hispanics.

The state’s growing non-Cuban population—especially growth in the Puerto Rican population in central Florida—contributed to the president’s improved showing among Hispanic voters. This year, according to the Florida exit poll, 34% of Hispanic voters were Cuban while 57% were non-Cuban. Among Cuban voters, the vote was split—49% supported Obama while 47% supported Romney. Among the state’s non-Cuban voters, Obama won 66% versus 34% for Romney.

Of course, Scott's veto doesn't surprise me. Scott ran an xenophobic campaign against Muslims. A Salon investigative article found that Scott's company had to settle many discrimination cases.

Yet even before it was fully operational Solantic executives were accused of a pattern of serial discrimination in hiring, a pattern supposedly initiated by Scott himself. The suits alleged a standing policy not to hire overweight women, Hispanics with strong accents, older women and black women.

The company settled the suits, and never admitted any wrongdoing. Today, the company’s CEO, Karen Bowling, adamantly denies there was ever such a policy. But as Scott exerts influence on the national healthcare debate, and holds up his own company as a model of the virtues of the for-profit system, the chronology of the accusations is compelling. It starts with one of the very first people Solantic hired.

Scott can't help but come off as xenophobic anymore than a tiger can change its strips.
