Obama & Bill Nye Diss Republican Science Deniers

President Barack Obama and Bill Nye recently visited the Everglades in Florida. Obama and Nye discussed the Republican Party's denying climate change. Despite the scientific evidence saying mankind is contributing to climate change.

When I see members of Congress being part of the climate-denier clubs and basically stiff-arming what we know are facts — and not rebutting them with other facts but rebutting them with anecdote or just being dismissive,” Obama said before Nye interjected.

“‘Oh, I’m not a scientist,'” Nye said, sarcastically repeating a common conservative argument against the phenomenon.

“I’m not a scientist, either, but I know a lot of scientists,” Obama replied. “I have the capacity to understand science. The capacity to look at facts and base my conclusions on evidence. Part of shifting our political culture I think, is we’ve gotta model for our kids that facts matter.”

If these Republicans say they aren't scientists then they shouldn't go around making false claims about science.

Reminder of How Bad the Bush Years Were

The George W. Bush presidency had a net LOSS in private sector jobs (about -500k). The jobs that were created during his 2 terms came from the public sector. Most of these jobs went to the formation of the giant opaque Homeland Security apparatus. Government jobs. DHS, a Republican idea, is proof that if you take a bunch of failed organizations and put them all together, they will metastasize. Aren't Republicans supposed to be against those kind of things? President Obama on the other hand has CUT government jobs since taking office by 700k, reduced the deficit by 2/3, & is on pace to create a net total of 13 million private sector jobs by the end of his 2nd term. And he's done it all in the aftermath of the greatest economic collapse since the Great Depression. #georgebush #jebbush #fuckbush #barackobama #obama #privatesector #publicsector #conservative #conservatives #republican #republicans #GOP #liberal #liberals #progressive #democrat #democrats #libertarian #libertarians #teaparty #politics #capitalism #occupy #taxtherich #socialism #workingclass #middleclass #uniteblue #thenewdeal

These numbers should remind you of what a disaster the presidency of George W. Bush was for America. Bush had 9/11, the poor response to Hurricane Katrina , and the econimic crash all happen on his watch. Yet Republicans would have you believe that the Obama years are somehow worse.

Pearl Jam - Breath

I have mixed feelings about Pearl Jam. I hate Jeff Ament's and Stone Gossard's previous band Mother Love Bone with a burning passion. That said, Breath is an irresistible song and should have been on Pearl Jam's debut album.

Quote of the Day

“I spit on the Christian God. When the White God arrived with the Spaniards, the Indians brought down fruit and corncakes and chocolate. The White Christian God proceeded to cut their hands off. He was not responsible for the Christian conquistadors? Yes, he was. Any God is responsible for his worshippers.”

William S. Burroughs, The Western Lands

If you are going to give credit to God for to good things than how can you not hold Him accountable for the evil in the world?

Happy Earth Day: Scott Walker Edition

Gov. Scott Walker's environmental record leaves a lot to be desired. Walker signed a pledge to never have a carbon tax. Walker Public Service Commission appointee Mike Huebsch falsely claimed that volcanoes are a greater cause of climate change than automobiles.

"You know, the elimination of essentially every automobile would be offset by one volcano exploding. You have to recognize the multiple factors that go into climate change."

This past week, Walker has laid off 57 state employees Department of Natural Resources. 27 of those employees come from the Bureau of Science Services. The BSS study such things as (you guessed it) climate change.

Happy Earth Day.

The Rand Paul Train Wreck Continues

Sen. Rand Paul's blow-ups with the media have shown he is not ready for prime-time. Paul is now begging the internet to do his opposition research for him. This is fucking hysterical.

Paul might want to focus on winning the nomination first. Paul's chances of getting to the general election are getting worse by the day.

Sexist Tweet of the Day: Donald Trump Edition

Via Addicting Info: Comedian Lenny Jacobson did a screen capture of this sexist retweeted fired off by Donald Trump.

I wonder if Trump is clueless or just works hard at being a douche. Trump's own children have begged him to stop talking about politics. Trump's kids know that he is hurting the family's brand name.

Write A Caption: Rand Paul Flip Flops

Rand Paul has been running away from many of his previous positions. It is only natural he should sell flip flops at his online store.

Samatha Guthrie called Paul out on his flip flops on The Today Show. Paul got extremely testy.

Blind People Open Carrying in Iowa

This is not from The Onion. USA Today reports that Iowa will allow people who are legally blind to acquire gun public carrying permits. Jane Hudson, executive director of Disability Rights Iowa, made this rather laughable comment.

"The fact that you can't drive a car doesn't mean you can't go to a shooting range and see a target," Hudson said.

Iowa is going to give permits to people that are legally blind. The fact that these people can't see a target is a good reason not to let them carry a firearm in public. It is sad and unfortunate that these people are blind. Their unfortunate disability doesn't make allowing blind people open carrying a good idea.

You can thank the NRA for blind people carrying a gun in public. Dom Raso posted video advocating open carry for blind people. The NRA took down the video after it was mocked on the internet. The Young Turks has part of the video.
