Mike Pence Has Always Been Anti-Gay

The New Civil Rights Movement did some digging and found web archive of Mike Pence's 2000 Congressional campaign website. It turns out that even back then Pence was staunchly anti-gay.

The thing about bigots is they are cowards and will never have the conviction to stand by their principles. Pence may try to run away from his anti-gay positions but the internet will archive everything.

Wilco Cancels Indiana Show

Wilco announced on Facebook that they are cancelling their Indiana show because of the anti-gay "Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act."

We are canceling our May 7 show at the Murat in Indianapolis. The “Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration Act” feels like thinly disguised legal discrimination to us. Hope to get back to the Hoosier State someday soon, when this odious measure is repealed. Refunds available at point of purchase.

Indiana is going to experience more boycotts because of this stupid piece of legislation.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin Supports Gay Marriage

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin gives an awesome profanity-laced tirade on the hypocrisy of churches being against gay marriage.

I don't give a shit if two guys, two gals, guy-gal, whatever it is, I believe that any human being in America, or any human being in the goddamn world, that wants to be married, and if it's same-sex, more power to 'em. What also chaps my ass, some of these churches, have the high horse that they get on and say, 'We as a church do not believe in that.' Which one of these motherfuckers talked to God, and God said that same-sex marriage was a no-can-do? Okay, so two cats can't get married if they want to get married, but then a guy can go murder 14 people, molest five kids, then go to fucking prison, and accept God and He's going to let him into heaven? After the fact that he did all that shit? See that's all horseshit to me, that don't jive with me.

The Hysterical Levels of Rick Scott's Climate Change Ban

If Gov. Rick Scott wants people to believe that he didn't issue a ban on the term "climate change" than he should allow Bryan Koon, Florida Division of Emergency director, to be able to say the words. Join testified before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee. Hilarity ensues.

As soon as Koon was done with his comments, state Sen. Jack Latvala, the Clearwater Republican who chairs the committee, playfully chimed in: “What were those words?

Clemens then suggested the state use a term for climate change more in line with Scott’s goal of creating jobs.

“I’m suggesting we, as a state, use atmospheric reemployment,” he said.

When pressed on the issue one final time by Clemens, Koon said “the issue you mentioned earlier,” again refusing to use the reportedly banned term.

That comment prompted the committee room to break out in laughter. At one point, Latvala was laughing so hard he had to turn off his microphone. (91:08 on the video)

Even a staunch Republican like Latvala finds the ban on the use of climate change hysterical. Watch the video on the Senate website. It is must see TV.

Ted Cruz Scares Children

Ted Cruz has been taking pointers from Rick Scott on how to scare the Hell out of children. Cruz gave his usual doom and gloom speech about President Barack Obama. Cruz made an analogy about the world being on fire. A scared 3 years-old child asked if the world was really on fire. Cruz said that it was. The man has no shame.

On his own New Hampshire trip, Texas Senator Ted Cruz went on a similar rhetorical journey. "The Obama economy is a disaster. Obamacare is a train wreck. And the Obama-Clinton foreign policy of leading from behind—the whole world's on fire!"

Julie Trant, a child in the audience, took this literally. "The world's on fire?" she asked.

"The world is on fire, yes," said Cruz, not missing a beat as the crowd chuckled. "Your world is on fire. But you know what? Your mommy's here, and everyone's here to make sure that the world you grow up in is even better."

Cruz will never be President because he always comes off as completely reptilian.

Why Lindsey Graham Should Never Be President

Anyone who says he would use the military against Congress is fucking insane.

And here's the first thing I would do if I were president of the United States. I wouldn't let Congress leave town until we fix this. I would literally use the military to keep them in if I had to. We're not leaving town until we restore these defense cuts. We are not leaving town until we restore the intel cuts.

Graham made this comment in New Hampshire. Either give President Graham the budget he wants or he will use military force against Congress. This man is a disgrace.

Wingnut of the Day: Jonathan Stickland

Texas State Representative Jonathan Stickland (R) identifies himself as a former fetus. Stickland's bio states his anti-choice beliefs.

Jonathan is adamantly pro-life and believes it is part of the government’s role to protect the unborn lives of children. He was honored to help author House Bill 2, which restricted abortions after 20 weeks, and made abortion clinics adhere to stricter rules that protect Texas women. This was a huge victory for the pro-life movement and Jonathan was proud to be a part of it.

Stickland took to Twitter when his sign was taken down.

What Stickland failed to understand was that his sign broke the rules of the Texas legislature.

What is a former fetus to do when he can't hang his sign?

Iran Letter Shows Mitch McConnell's Weakness

Republicans are backtracking from the letter signed by 47 GOP Senators and drafted by freshman Tom Cotton. Republican aides is hysterically telling The Daily Beast was all a joke.

Republican aides were taken aback by the response to what what they thought was a lighthearted attempt to signal to Iran and the public that Congress should have a role in the ongoing nuclear discussions. Two GOP aides separately described their letter as a “cheeky” reminder of the congressional branch’s prerogatives.

Megyn Kelly mocked Cotton on her show.

"You've offended the Obama administration and you may have offended some of the Democrats who would have come over with the Republicans depending on what happens with this deal, to have a stronger say in the Senate,” Kelly said.

The real question is why is the Republican caucus continuing to allow freshmen senators to drive the agenda. Republican Senate members can't stand Ted Cruz but they let him shutdown the government. Republican asllowed Cotton to not only write an open letter to Iran - the majority of the membership signed it. The Republican Senators are now being accused of treason. The frontpage of The New York Daily News was brutal.

This is what happens when Mitch McConnell doesn't tell the freshmen Senators to sit down and shut the fuck up.

Wingnut of the Day: Michael Willette

Maine state Republican Senator Michael Willette thought it was a good idea to post this anti-Obama status on Facebook.

Willette is now backtracking from his less than brilliant Facebook post.

“I apologize for posting this on Facebook. Like too many people these days, I fell into the trap of posting something first and then thinking later. It was an error in judgment,” he said.

It is bad enough to post a racist post. It is quite another thing for Willette to not have the courage to stand by his racist rant.

Side note: I continue to be amazed at how Republicans think the President that ordered the attack on Osama bin Laden somehow loves terrorists.

Racist of the Day

Jim Boggess is the owner of Jimbo’s Deli in Flemington, New Jersey. Boggess had the idea to hang a "White History Month" sign in the window of his restaurant.

In case you doubt that Boggess is a racist - keep in mind that he also hung a Klu Klux Klan T cross in his window.

“The ‘white’ had a cross. It was a cross ‘t,’ which is used by the Ku Klux Klan as a symbol, right,” resident Bhakti Curtis tells CBS New York. The 't' in question has since been changed.

The sign has since been removed. Apparently, Boggess learned that being a blatant racist isn't the greatest marketing strategy.

Mike Huckabee: Lightweight

Think Progress asked Mike Huckabee to cite an example of how gay marriage is negatively impacting Iowa. Huckabee couldn't cite a specific example. He just went into talking points mode.

“Iowans voted differently than the judges ruled, so you’ve got a conflict between the people and the judges,” he told ThinkProgress. “Ultimately, most states have made clear their position on it. The battle hasn’t been with the people. The battle has been with a handful of people in black robes.”

What is interesting is Republicans are no longer trying to make bogus science arguments. Conservatives used to trot out fake anti-gay experts like George "Rent Boy" Rekers. Now they dodge the prior bogus science on how homosexuality is a lifestyle choice. Ben Carson's comments on men deciding to become homosexual entering prison was so laughable that it was mocked by Glenn Beck.

Republicans have lost the public argument on gay marriage. Part of the reason is the GOP has politicians as dumb as Huckabee. How could Huckabee not see the question of the impact of gay marriage? Lightweight.
