Jeb Bush Doesn't Love Anal Sex

A man on a mission like Jeb Bush probably sticks to the missionary position. In a 1994 Miami Herald op-ed, the Jebster went full Rick Santorum on the issue of sodomy.

In the editorial, published in the Miami Herald that summer, Bush drew a parallel between legal protection for gays and the question, "[Should] sodomy be elevated to the same constitutional status as race and religion? My answer is No."

"The statement that the governor must stand up for all people on all matters is just silly," Bush wrote, arguing that government does not defend every Floridian "with equal verve and enthusiasm." He listed a string of examples: "Polluters, pedophiles, pornographers, drunk drivers, and developers without proper permits."

Jeb went on to be a governor that doesn't represent all people equally. That isn't surprising. Bush is attempting to rebrand himself as less homophobic. So far his efforts have been less than stellar.

I'm curious. Does Jeb Bush feel that heterosexual couples should not allowed to legally practice anal sex in their bedrooms? These heterosexual couple are in what Bush and other Republicans would call a traditional marriage. Bush wrote that sodomy doesn't require legal protection.

For the record: the Supreme Court made it clear that anal sex is protected.

The Lawrence v. Texas ruling found that the Texas anti-sodomy law violated the equal protection clause of the 14th Amendment. Short answer: you can't prosecute gay couple for engaging in anal sex and allow straight couple to engage in the same sexual activity.

Laws like this happen when elected leaders feel they can pick and choose what laws they will enforce. Jeb Bush is such an elected official. Bush would later sign Terri's Law. The Florida Supreme Court found it unconstitutional on the ground that Bush and the Florida legislature illegally overruled the judicial branch.

Bush's 1994 op-ed revealed a man who will only enforce the laws that agree with his worldview.

Get Educated on HIV/AIDS

Planned Parenthood will have a town hall on Twitter tomorrow with Dr. Cullins. Too many teenagers live in red states that do not educate them on the spread of sexually transmitted deseases. If you miss the town hall, you can check out to Planned Parenthood page on HIV. The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention also has information.

Allen West Flies His Freak Flag

To say that Rep. Allen West is a walking soap opera is a vast understatement. West gets attention for incendiary. I guarantee that if you ask West's supporters what legislation West is sponsoring they would draw a blank. Like many tea party freshmen, West has been a benchwarmer in the unproductive 112th Do Nothing Congress. The current tea party crowd prefers anger and flash over substance.

West is getting attention that he would rather avoid. Gossip Extra published an extremely creepy letter West wrote to his wife.

He tells her: "From now on, you will wear two-piece swim suits when on vacations."

Then: "Angelia, I need to know, are you committed to being my porn star."

West and his wife are perfectly entitled to get a little freaky in their personal lives. What his disturbing is the letter matches previous sexist rhetoric West has aimed at women.

Ross Douthat's Performance Problem

Ladies, you can read about a nookie session New York Times conservative columnist Ross Douthat had during his college years. The passage comes from Douthat's book "Privilege."

One successful foray ended on the guest bed of a high school friend's parents, with a girl who resembled a chunkier Reese Witherspoon drunkenly masticating my neck and cheeks. It had taken some time to reach this point--"Do most Harvard guys take so long to get what they want?" she had asked, pushing her tongue into my mouth. I wasn't sure what to say, but then I wasn't sure this was what I wanted. My throat was dry from too much vodka, and her breasts, spilling out of pink pajamas, threatened my ability to. I was supposed to be excited, but I was bored and somewhat disgusted with myself, with her, with the whole business... and then whatever residual enthusiasm I felt for the venture dissipated, with shocking speed, as she nibbled at my ear and whispered--"You know, I'm on the pill..."

A lot people saw hypocrisy in Douthat having no problem getting a girl in bed and then passing judgment on her for being on the pill. I have no disagreement with this assessment. What struck me is Douthat had performance problems making out with a Reese Witherspoon lookalike. I would be thanking my lucky stars to be making out with someone that looked like Reese Witherspoon when I was 20. Douthat's well-known Christian conservatism not with-standing; I don't buy for a second that Douthat's lack of enthusiasm was because of the pill.

The Ayn Rand Dating Site

Ayn Rand fans now have their own dating site. Atlasphere is for Ayn Rand dating and networking. All you objectivists looking for love now have a place to go to. Megan McArdle must be asking yourself where was this web site when she was single.

Atlasphere is news to me. It has been around since 2003. Time has a composite of answers on that special someone Randians are looking to meet.

A libertarian gal who has a good attitude.

An egoist bastard with a loving heart.

A man who can stand alone against a tide of opposition.

An independent, rational, logical, ambitious, selfish, productive [woman who is] proud of her moral character [and] values maintaining physical attractiveness.

Guys, if you want to be successful in love you need to be an egoist bastard and able to stand against the tide of oppression. And inflict oppression on those people too lazy to get out of their wheelchairs and stop collecting Medicaid.

Video on Christine O'Donnell's Anti-Masturbation Position

Hysterical video of Christine O'Donnell proclaiming masturbation is wrong because it is lustful. I agree with Cenk Uygur I seriously doubt God is watching from above and deeming what sexual acts are right. Can you imagine God in heaven telepathically telling Christine O'Donnell that masturbation is wrong, but spooning is okay? Didn't think so.

Christine O'Donnell Against Spanking the Monkey

Delaware Tea Party darling Christine O'Donnell is anti-masturbation.

The Huffington Post reports that O'Donnell was on a Sex In The 90s special on MTV. (Remember those?) "The Bible says that lust in your heart is committing adultery. So you can't masturbate without lust," she said, adding. "The reason that you don't tell [people] that masturbation is the answer to AIDS and all these other problems that come with sex outside of marriage is because again it is not addressing the issue. You're just gonna create somebody who is, I was gonna say, toying with his sexuality. Pardon the pun."

There goes the videogamer vote.

In rated news: Redstate.com founder Erick Erickson is pulling support fro O'Donnell because of anti-gay against Republican opponent Mike Castle.

Subsequently, a number of the affiliated individuals went and worked directly for Christine O’Donnell’s campaign. A few weeks ago they left. Around that time I began hearing rumors the O’Donnell campaign was imploding.

The gang that left resurfaced at Liberty.com. The launch day spectacular at Liberty.com was to announce that Mike Castle is having a gay affair on his wife with no proof whatsoever.

When it was pointed out that all the people behind the accusation were O’Donnell campaign staffers, the response was “not any more.”

After a year of direct and indirect advocacy for Christine O’Donnell, it is pretty doggone hard to now stand apart and say “Nope, not campaign related.”

Baloney

I disagree with Erickson's statement that there is "no evidence" that Tea Party is filled with bigoted and dangerous people. You check check posts here, here, here, here, here, here and here. I am glad Erickson went after Team O'Donnell for the homophobic attacks on Castle.

Regulating Condom Use in the Porn Industry

Lindsay Beyerstein argues the porn industry should mandate condom use.

Porn performers have legal jobs producing legal products in a multibillion-dollar industry. Yet in practice, they lack basic health and safety protections that other workers take for granted. Less than 20 percent of hardcore straight porn features condoms, even though condoms or equivalent protection are required by law.

Male porn star Marc Wallice may have knowingly performed after testing positive for the AIDS virus. It is believed Wallice transmitted the viurus to female porn stars Brooke Ashley, Tricia Devereaux and Barbara Doll. Wallice may have also given the virus to Caroline Delfin and Jordan McKnight. The porn industry made Wallice to take the PCR-DNA April 30, 1998. Test results found Wallice was HIV positive for a year.

The Wallice fiasco serves as a good reason for condom use in the porn industry. I seriously doubt the federal government will step in. Hopefully, California's government is progressive enough to regulate condem use.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation has filed a complaint with California's the Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Occupational Safety and Health. The AHF want to mandate porn producer Larry Flynt require all male performers to use condoms. The courts have sided with the porn industry in past legal battles over condom use. It is time for the California legislature and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to step in.

Virginity Test

File this under you got to be fucking kidding me: acupuncturist Pham Thi Hong helped free three rapists. The evidence she gave the court was she checked their ears and pulse. Hong declared that the men were virgins.

"They all had small red spots on the back of their ears," said Hong, 54. "The spots should have disappeared if they had had sex. My many years of experience told me that these men did not have sex before."

The horror of the story is the Vietnamese took Hong seriously. President Nguyen Minh Triet order the release of the men. It is scary that there are parts of the world still living in the Dark Ages.

Porn Bailout

In a moment that defies the laws of stupidity, pornographers Larry Flynt and Joe Frances are asking the federal government for a $5 billion bailout.

Flynt (the "Hustler" guy) and Francis (the "Girls Gone Wild" dude) are asking the government for a $5 billion bailout, claiming the adult entertainment industry has taken a huge shot to the face because of the downturn -- citing the fact that XXX DVD sales are down 22% from a year ago.

"With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind," Flynt says. "It's time for Congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America."

The adult industry is hurting. Mons Venus is one of the most profitable strip clubs in America. Last summer Mons Venus's business was down by 25 percent. I have a begrudging respect for Flynt's work as a first amendment advocate. Frances a very creepy guy and possibly guilty of sexual assault.

When I talk to Szyszka seven days later, she says she “didn’t quite realize” she was being filmed. “But I didn’t care because I was drunk and who cares?” Then she adds: “It didn’t feel good to me at all, but I was totally faking it because I was on ‘Girls Gone Wild.’”Eventually, Szyszka says, Francis told the cameraman to leave and pushed her back on the bed, undid his jeans and climbed on top of her. “I told him it hurt, and he kept doing it. And I keep telling him it hurts. I said, ‘No’ twice in the beginning, and during I started saying, ‘Oh, my god, it hurts.’ I kept telling him it hurt, but he kept going, and he said he was sorry but kissed me so I wouldn’t keep talking.”

Afterward, she says, Francis cleaned them both off with a paper towel and told her to get dressed. Then, she says, he opened the door and told the cameraman to come back, saying, “She’s not a virgin anymore.”

Nothing would make me happier than to see Frances go out of bussiness. That would be the one upside of the recession.

Planned Parenthood Fights Against False McCain Ad

PolitiFact.com fact-checked John McCain's ad stating Barack Obama voted to teach sex education to kindergartners as a "pants on fire" lie. "Barack never had anything to do with it," said former Illinois State Senate and bill sponsor Carol Ronen. "This is a lot of hoopla." Furthermore, the bill died in the Senate. It never became law.

Wayne Garcia published the text of the bill. The bill requires the teaching of abstinence and children not to abuse alcohol and drugs. All lesson material must be "age appropriate." The bill is hardly some radical manifesto.

Sec. 3. Comprehensive Health Education Program.
23 (a) The program established under this Act shall
24 include, but not be limited to, the following major
25 educational areas as a basis for curricula in all elementary
26 and secondary schools in this State: human ecology and
27 health, human growth and development, the emotional,
28 psychological, physiological, hygienic and social
29 responsibilities of family life, including sexual abstinence
30 and prevention of unintended pregnancy until marriage,
31 prevention and control of disease, including age appropriate
32 instruction in grades K 6 through 12 on the prevention of
33 sexually transmitted infections, including the prevention,

-10- LRB093 05269 NHT 05359 b
1 transmission and spread of HIV AIDS, public and environmental
2 health, consumer health, safety education and disaster
3 survival, mental health and illness, personal health habits,
4 alcohol, drug use, and abuse including the medical and legal
5 ramifications of alcohol, drug, and tobacco use, abuse during
6 pregnancy, sexual abstinence until marriage, tobacco,
7 nutrition, and dental health.
8 (b) All comprehensive health education programs
9 established under this Act shall satisfy the following
10 criteria:
11 (1) Factual information presented in course
12 material and instruction shall be medically accurate and
13 objective.
14 (2) All course material and instruction in classes
15 that teach sex education and discuss sexual activity or
16 behavior shall be age and developmentally appropriate.
17 (3) Course material and instruction shall include a
18 discussion of sexual abstinence as a method to prevent
19 unintended pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections,
20 including HIV.
21 (4) Course material and instruction shall present
22 the latest medically factual information regarding both
23 the possible side effects and health benefits of all
24 forms of contraception, including the success and failure
25 rates for the prevention of pregnancy and sexually
26 transmitted infections, including HIV.
27 (5) Course material and instruction shall stress
28 that sexually transmitted infections are serious possible
29 hazards of sexual activity or behavior. Pupils shall be
30 provided with statistics based on the latest medical
31 information citing the failure and success rates of all
32 methods of contraception in preventing HIV and other
33 sexually transmitted infections.
34 (6) Course material and instruction shall advise

-11- LRB093 05269 NHT 05359 b
1 pupils that it is unlawful for males or females of any
2 age to engage in sexual conduct or have sexual relations
3 with a minor as specified in Article 12 of the Criminal
4 Code of 1961.

The bill would have required to teach students to ward off unwanted sexual advances. Planned Parenthood is hitting McCain hard on his misleading ad. I'm curious if a journalist will ask McCain if he is against teaching students to "just say no" to sexual harassment.

...not make unwanted physical and verbal sexual advances and how to say no to unwanted sexual advances.

:: Oh, save me from the puritanical and provincial mind ::

Okay, I know Valentine’s Day has come and gone, per se. But, I really haven’t had the time to give all you good people the exiting news!!!! (I’ve been wanting to post this for over two weeks!)

No, I’m not getting married. (shudder)

tupperparty.jpg

In 2004, the State of Texas, in it’s infinite lack of wisdom, as usual, decided to prosecute a Baptist, mother of 3, former school teacher for selling sex widgets in Texas. That’s right, sexual gratification devices. This North Texas Bible-belt mama, was prosecuted by the State for selling whips, chains, erotic oils and dildo’s to people like me. She had sex parties - to sell sex toys to you and your friends at her customers homes. Just like a Pampered Chef party. (The morons in North Texas later dropped the charges against the Burleson resident.)

Who Knew??? Criminy. I must be a criminal, too. Freaking provincial idiots.

Wait! Actually, a higher court has overturned Texas law regarding the sale of sexual devices!!! WOOHOO!

Court overturns Texas ban on sex toys

Federal appeals court says law violates constitutional right to privacy.

AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF
Thursday, February 14, 2008

A federal appeals court has struck down a Texas law that makes it a crime to promote or sell sex toys.

“Whatever one might think or believe about the use of these devices,” said an opinion written by Justice Thomas M. Reavley of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, “government interference with their personal and private use violates the Constitution.”

Under Texas law it is illegal to sell, advertise, give or lend obscene devices, defined as a device used primarily for sexual stimulation. Anyone in possession of six or more sexual devices is considered to be promoting them.

The Texas law dates back to the 1970s and is seldom enforced. Travis County prosecutors say that they haven’t charged anyone with a sexual device-related crime in at least the past seven years, and probably much longer.

In 2003, a woman in the Fort Worth suburb of Burleson drew nationwide attention when she was arrested for selling erotic toys at a Tupperware-type party. The charges against Joanne Webb were later dropped.

In addition to Texas, whose law has survived previous state court challenges, three other states have a similar sex toys statute: Mississippi, Alabama and Virginia. Laws in Louisiana, Kansas, Colorado and Georgia have been thrown out by courts in recent years.

The 2-1 opinion by a panel of the 5th Circuit was based heavily on the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2003 decision in Lawrence and Garner v. Texas, which struck down a Texas law prohibiting private consensual sex among people of the same sex.

That case established a broad constitutional right to sexual privacy.

On the heels of that landmark ruling, Reliable Consultants Inc. sued Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott in 2004 in U.S. District Court in Austin.

They sought a declaratory judgment prohibiting the enforcement of the statute. Reliable Consultants at the time operated adult-oriented stores in Texas including two Dreamers stores and Le Rouge Boutique in Austin. The plaintiffs were later joined by PHE Inc., which operates an online and mail order adult store called Adam and Eve. The plaintiffs were never prosecuted but argued that because of the law their business was hindered and their customers were deprived of buying sex toys.

U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel in Austin dismissed the lawsuit after finding that there is no constitutionally protected right to publicly promote obscene devices.

On appeal, lawyers for the State of Texas, which had replaced Abbott as a defendant, argued that the Lawrence case invalidates laws that target private conduct but not laws prohibiting any commercial conduct. Justice Rhesa H. Barksdale agreed with that logic in his dissent.

The state also argued in a brief that Texas has legitimate “morality based” reasons for the laws, which include “discouraging prurient interests in autonomous sex and the pursuit of sexual gratification unrelated to procreation.”

A spokesman for Abbott, who filed the brief for the state and for Earle in court, declined to comment. They can ask for review of the case by the entire court, appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court or allow the case to return to Austin, where Yeakel would likely enter an order that would end enforcement of the law.

Jennifer Kinsley, a Cincinnati-based lawyer for Reliable Consultants, whose firm represents adult businesses nationwide, applauded the court’s ruling and said it would aid her clients and their customers.

“We believe that the rights of ordinary people are being violated by this law, and we are very happy this no longer is valid,” Kinsley said.

And, this from Mathew Harwood, Deadline USA of the Guardian Unlimited:

Hands off my pocket punanni!

Texans can finally do unto themselves and others what they feel like in their own bedrooms

We Americans are known for our prudence, and by that I mean our puritanism in regards to all matters sex, especially when things get weird. For instance, four states ban sex toys: Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, and the state I blog from, Virginia. Notice the geography: all four reside in the apparently not so dirty South. But fear not “sexual deviants” in Texas, sex toys can now be legally purchased, reports Slate.com:

According to the Texas (ahem) penal code, it is forbidden to sell or to advertise an artificial penis or vagina “primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs.” The statute makes an exception for instances in which the purchase meets a “medical, psychiatric, judicial, legislative, or law enforcement” need. Even so, in Reliable Consultants v. Ronnie Earle, the normally conservative 5th Circuit Court of Appeals struck down the ban on the grounds that it violated the right of ordinary citizens “to engage in private intimate conduct in the home without government intrusion.”

The exceptions to the ban are unintentionally hilarious. I beg someone to give me an example where a dildo could satisfy a legitimate law enforcement need. Although I guess a dildo could double as a night stick and a plastic vagina, handcuffs, if a situation out of the Naked Gun arose.

And for you journalists out there deep in the heart of Texas, want to make Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama squirm? Ask them if they support the circuit court’s ruling and then very coyly with a wink and a nod ask the follow-up question: Is it true that everything is bigger in Texas?

So, does making sex toys legal take the vicarious thrill away? Ummm, no! Someone from Austin was suggesting they could use their ‘fleshlight’ again without fear of imprisonment. Oh, MY! I do believe THAT is for men.

How about that Eliot Spitzer?

On another topic altogether…

Explain to me how Hillary managed to tie delegate votes with Obama in Texas when Hill and the x-Pres have been so heavily hated in the state, especially by men and provincial women. I still find it difficult to believe. I think the Republicans did what many advocated in across the State - Republicans vote in the Democratic Primary for Hillary. That just ain’t right.

I also find it a travesty that Florida and Michigan may be allowed to redo their primaries. If they wanted to be counted the first time, they should have followed the rules to agreed to for the primary.

My family is aghast and perturbed that I’m not a Hillary fanatic. The silly Republican bro’s. The idjuts probably voted for Huckitup. Sheesh. The parents just LOVE the Clintons. Me, I prefer checking what they do and not necessarily believing what they say.

Real Clear Politics is doing a fab job keeping up with the primary results. Previous link is popular vote and this one is Delegates.

Personally speaking:

I am one whipped puppy. Seriously. I finished up a project that started during my vacation in December and concluded last night … very successfully. But, I’m so tired, I could sleep for a month. 12-18 hour days non-stop.

So, hopefully, my work schedule will normalize a bit … except I have to catch up on everything I neglected to do that didn’t get accomplished due to the planning and implementation of the event I just concluded here. Damn.

My niece has a short film she produced last year with Laslo Rain at SXSW in Austin entitled “SHOT.” Damned Cool! It is screening 3 times, so try to catch it if you go to the festival. See link above for more info.

My friend Rob Dowling has some awesome paintings for sale. Must See!!!

Rob: I think you should consider the word “Serendipity.”

Taking Sex Back

Nina Hartley gives a fantastic spiel about the moral values crowd wishing to control women's bodies.

"As someone who has achieved the ages of 18 years, plus one minute. That is the age of consent," Hartley told an Ohio State University audience. "Consent to join the army, consent to vote, consent to go get killed in Iraq for our stupid war."

The audience roared when Hartley empressed her displeasure about the current war. The Iraq war isn't promoting democracy or the next generation of young Republicans.

"And somehow, we can consent to marry. We can consent to have an abortion. We can consent to become mothers. But somehow, I have a right to my uterus and what happens to it, but they get a say about what I do with my vagina. What is wrong with this picture?"

Hartley is looking at the issue from the standpoint of a porn star and free speech advocate. Christian fundamentalists want to legislate what women can do with their uteruses. The core issue is sexuality. Christian conservatives would rather have the federal government teach children that the AIDS virus can be spread through tears than discuss safe sex. 16 states have rejected federal money for abstinence-only sex(less) education. The policy has become an official failure. Getting James Dobson or the the late Jerry Falwell to admit the obvious would never happen. Men whom obsessively looked for the non-existent homosexual agenda in children television characters lack the maturity to discuss condoms and birth control.

"What's wrong with this picture, is the ultimate in patriarchal belief system thinks they can tell us what to do with our bodies," Hartley said. "I don't agree with that."

Hartley told the audience she was a feminist before most of them were born. She went into the porn because she is an exhibitionist and bisexual. As a porn star, she grew weary of listening to moral crusaders telling her how to express her sexuality. It was her body and her choice. It's creepy that religious conservatives tremble in fear about Hartley experiencing orgasms.

Mike Huckabee News

The wingnut organization Common Sense Issues is running a pro-Mike Huckabee push poll in South Carolina. (Check out the racist anti-Cuban video on their web site.)

Fred Thompson addressed the push poll in front of an audience.

“I'm obviously familiar with the push poll concept. Same folks did that in Iowa, and you know, it seems to be coming from one direction, but I won't call any names, but Gov. Huckabee says he doesn't know anything about it. So....”

Huckabee is busy equating gay sex to bestiality. The Huckster wants to party likes it's 2004.

QUESTIONER: Is it your goal to bring the Constitution into strict conformity with the Bible? Some people would consider that a kind of dangerous undertaking, particularly given the variety of biblical interpretations.

HUCKABEE: Well, I don't think that's a radical view to say we're going to affirm marriage. I think the radical view is to say that we're going to change the definition of marriage so that it can mean two men, two women, a man and three women, a man and a child, a man and animal. Again, once we change the definition, the door is open to change it again. I think the radical position is to make a change in what's been historic.

Huckabee can get away with homophobic comments because Democrats are fearful of addressing gay marriage. Democrats make the bizarre statement that they are for civil unions, but not gay marriage. During the 2004 campaign, John Edwards exploded on the press when he couldn't articulate why he favored the former. The difference for Democrats is the wording. Gay couples should have the same rights as married couples. Gay and lesbian unions must never be called marriage. The reason is...

Huckabee will run on homophobia until a Democrat calls him out. Ron Paul has become silent after his racist and homophobic newsletters became a campaign issue. Are Democrats afraid Chuck Norris is going to open a can of whoop ass if they point out their views? Show some spine, people.

Must Have Christmas Present

Order your Lovely Mistresses of George W. Bush calendar now. Boing Boing has a description of this calendar by creator Veronica.

"I'm a burlesque performer in NYC and me and a bunch of the girls and NYC photographer Burke Heffner created the calendar 'The Lovely Mistresses of George W. Bush.' It's a beautiful, vintage styled pinup calendar. Each girl represents a special interest group or corporation that has profited from Bush being in power. The calendar is topical, environmentally friendly, and 25% of the profits are going to watchdog organizations that monitor corporate influence over our government."

Nothing say sexy like the words "Bush" and "special interest group."

Quote of the Day 2

"Parker says there is a "mental health crisis on American campuses." Disease, thy name is fucking. To prove that young women are all going crazy with the cock, Parker quotes Miriam Grossman, yet another hack, I mean "expert," on the supposed hook-up culture on campuses."

Jessica Valenti, on the silly op-ed by Kathleen Parker. The latter quotes a study by the Ethics and Policy Center. The group is a Christian Right group disguised as a think tank.

Founded in 1976, the Ethics and Public Policy Center is Washington, D.C.'s premier institute dedicated to applying the Judeo-Christian moral tradition to critical issues of public policy.

Conservative columnists are predictible with their use of sources. I would for once like to see them quote a real scientific study.
