Naked Brunch: Of puppies, their naming, consequences, and other unrelated matters

I worked for  a whopping two days last week, between my Xmas vacation and New Year's vacation.  I accomplished next to nothing at work, except for one tiny little licking, squirming, cuter-than-hell thing (see left below with Oz in the background thru the glass door).

I brought home a little girl puppy this past Monday who had been on her own enough time to be a mess and near starving.  She was dropped off at our office by a woman who found her and couldn't find a no kill shelter for her and begged us to place her.  She had found her three days previous, but had made no attempt to clean her up, but did feed her.

I went immediately to the groomer for cleansing and de-lousing.  Then the vet for a checkup and shots.  Along the way, during her time in the wilds, she picked up an intestinal amoeba and worms, all of which have been taken care of.  Poor little mite.

As some of you may know, I live at the parents house.  This was NOT a pleasant surprise to my father, who started yelling at me, at the top of his lungs, red-faced and fuckin' furious.  He's managed to settle down a bit since, like 6 days later, he is actually conversing with me again.  He'll end up loving this pup as much as I have begun to do.

My dogs are furious as well, although not until after the first greeting of the pup and their own natural curiousity.  It went downhill shortly thereafter, when they figured out she was going to stay as well as their jealousy for my attention, which I have yet to stint them.  The puppy's unwavering cuteness and showing off, rolling over, and antics, have hard pressed them to be mean to her, although they continue to growl on occassion.  This little girl will go to the bathroom on demand, sleeps through the night (in bed with me) or as long as I do, and takes a bunch of naps beside, allowing me to type right at the moment.  She is a vigorous little vocal bundle, who has seemingly doubled in size within a week!

Here's the thing, I can not decide on a name.  My other dogs have been named, Nike (after the Greek Goddess of strength, speed and victory), Sadie (as in "sexy Sadie" after the Beatle's tune), Cleo (after Cleopatra), Oz (after Ozymandias who was Ramses II of Egypt), and Luna (The Moon, since it was my very first view of her at a bare 4 weeks old, mooning me).  All but Oz and Luna are deceased now, and every one of them were amazing companions and friends in their own unique way and each with a very special personality.  I have loved them all dearly.  Most recently, I lost my Cleo in February 2008.  Oz will be 14 this year and Luna 11.  It's a little late to introduce a puppy to them, but they will eventually find an accommodation with each other, as dogs always will.

I always allow a dog to name themselves, but this dog, doesn't perk up on any name.  She responds very well to Potty, but I'll not name her that!  She'll think I am constantly asking her to go to the bathroom.  So, I need help.  With other names, or to pear down this list.  I have already peared it down from 75 or so.

Here are my and the pups (I think) favorites so far, in no particular order:

  • Juno (Roman Goddess, special counselor and protector of state)
  • Abbey (after the Beatle's Abbey Road)
  • Poppy (too close to Potty)
  • Bella (cuz I like it)
  • Ariel (from The Little Mermaid)
  • Cira (after the star)
  • India (guess)
  • Zoe (from a character in an old TV show)
  • Lela (song by Derek and the Dominoes, aka Eric Clapton)
  • Maia (greek name meaning great or mother)
  • Serefina (Sera for short) (character from the Golden Compass)
  • Synne (from Geoffery Chaucer, "Goddes synne of worldly sorwe...")
  • Zaida (Zaida of Seville, an 11th Century exile Muslim princess who was the mistress (or, by some theories, the wife and queen) of King Alfonso VI of Castile)

I'm sick of calling her pup and hey!  So, give me some consensus here or suggest something else.  I need some help!

From my friends on the web:

My friend, the psychotic painter, Robert Dowling has been in hospital for 10-days for a physical ailment that has been plaguing him and is not in good shape.  Please send him your well wishes for a speedy recovery - he needs it.  You can also help him out by buying a lovely print of one of his Dowling originals.  I"ll be buying an original, hopefully soon.  Be well my friend and check your e-mail.

Ruins of Empire has the best interview ever:  Dr. Who!!!! ( I am addicted - all over again!)

Sunday, and the winner is: Martini Revolution

So, did anyone see that video of Palin being interviewed in front of some moron slaughtering Turkeys?  It's pretty damned awful.  What was she thinking?  Oh, I know, ... she wasn't.

Acephalous' students, channel, Shatner.

Ya know, I got every pick Obama made for his cabinet correct.  And now I am right about this:  Infrastructure

This year for the holiday gift giving extravaganza - there won't be one.  My brother lost his job last month.  My other brother just bought a cool house he can't afford.  My neice just bought a 5,000 SF house and found out she was pregnant - unexpectedly.  My nephew quit his job at IBM to go to law school at University of Houston and they are living off his wife's teaching salary.  My other niece just started a new job in sales and is on commissioned pay.  So, about the only one with money right now is me and my parents.  So, we usually do a gift exchange each year, but that is out.  So, we are going to give our selected person a favor, something we will do for them, a craft or artwork we do ourself, a poem - basically whatever invests the giver into that person being gifted.  Problem is I already bought my usual cool group gifts, which I do every year.  They are getting the carbon offsets anyway.  I bought the parents a group gift which is so cool I want one for myself.  All I really want is their company and some chocolate martinis.  Oh,yeah, the little ones still get gifts.

This is hilarious, (and a testimony of too many kids & parents today which is decidedly sad):  (bear with me here, and watch the whole thing)

Bush reflects?  I didn't know he was capable of such a thing.  I'm pretty sure I don;t believe it.

This greed and administration absolutely are to blame for this mess we are in.  Absolutely to blame.

Obama himself has become a merchandisers heaven.  I know, I've bought my fifth Obama t-shirt from Rolling Stone, no less. (The one with red foil.)  I'm even getting one from Obama's campaign based on their last pre-election donation drive.

Cool.  The Columbus Crew wins the 2008 MLS Cup

Go listen to this video of Shearwater (an Austin band I like).  It is beautiful.  I particularly like the third song.

Check out Austin Cline's Mike Huckabee: The Smiling Happy Face of Theocratic Fascism over at Jesus' General.

Martini Revolution is a must read.  You won't believe it!  Hinderaker hard on for semi-literate Bush unabated

Straight White Guy Eric is a serial Christopher Lee fan as well as the movie, The Hounds of the Baskervilles

What a great way to end Sunday.  I think I'll go have some dessert and see if I can find it on the tube.

We did good America

Thank You. (Your Prize: the coolest thing I could find)

Each and every one of you. You thinking individuals, with a mind and soul that understands deeper than looks and shallow words, and denies the hatefulness and treachery, deceit and bigotry in the world. Thank You. Thank you to each and everyone one of you that voted with an open heart, using their conscience and sensibilities to guide them and with a wider understanding of who we need to reunify, accomplish and overturn the horridness of these past eight years of shame. Thank You.

Maybe I can actually get a full 8-hours of sleep for the first time in 9 years.

And I'll be there is spirit if not in person at the inaguration of our 44th President of the United States.

President Barack Obama.

I can't quite believe it....

Let's move on to the real work that needs to be done. And, let me know if you need any help. I'm here for you, America.

I love this place.

But, I haven't liked it much for the past 8 years.

Change. It's a good thing.
The universe is change; our life is what our thoughts make it.

Pissed Off Again Naked Brunch

Woke up this lovely Sunday morning to the attached Republican Doctrine accusing us of a lack of patriotism, stupidity, and more in a love letter from a resigning Bush.  Well, Rethuglicans, it's a shame it's come to this.  Really LOW tactics.  From my neighbors no less.  I am surrounded by you maniacs.  To bad, so sad you are losing and WILL lose this Presidential election.  And, God Bless America on a fuckin' Sunday back at 'cha.

Click on the image to read page 1 of the diatribe.

Or you can click on these links to read each page; there are 5 of them.

Be sure to pass this around and to your local Democratic Headquarters.  I am.

According to Polltracker '08 which averages all polls by state and then nationslly, Obama is kicking McCains butt.

Nationally  51.2% to 42.4% on average

Electoral Votes  Obama 306   McCain 157

Oh, Happy Day!

By the way, I printed a huge fuckin poster of Obama yesterday and I'm sticking it in my yard with the other three Obama signs already out there.  A better fuck you I couldn't have come up with.

:: Oh, save me from the puritanical and provincial mind ::

Okay, I know Valentine’s Day has come and gone, per se. But, I really haven’t had the time to give all you good people the exiting news!!!! (I’ve been wanting to post this for over two weeks!)

No, I’m not getting married. (shudder)

tupperparty.jpg

In 2004, the State of Texas, in it’s infinite lack of wisdom, as usual, decided to prosecute a Baptist, mother of 3, former school teacher for selling sex widgets in Texas. That’s right, sexual gratification devices. This North Texas Bible-belt mama, was prosecuted by the State for selling whips, chains, erotic oils and dildo’s to people like me. She had sex parties - to sell sex toys to you and your friends at her customers homes. Just like a Pampered Chef party. (The morons in North Texas later dropped the charges against the Burleson resident.)

Who Knew??? Criminy. I must be a criminal, too. Freaking provincial idiots.

Wait! Actually, a higher court has overturned Texas law regarding the sale of sexual devices!!! WOOHOO!

Court overturns Texas ban on sex toys

Federal appeals court says law violates constitutional right to privacy.

AMERICAN-STATESMAN STAFF
Thursday, February 14, 2008

A federal appeals court has struck down a Texas law that makes it a crime to promote or sell sex toys.

“Whatever one might think or believe about the use of these devices,” said an opinion written by Justice Thomas M. Reavley of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, “government interference with their personal and private use violates the Constitution.”

Under Texas law it is illegal to sell, advertise, give or lend obscene devices, defined as a device used primarily for sexual stimulation. Anyone in possession of six or more sexual devices is considered to be promoting them.

The Texas law dates back to the 1970s and is seldom enforced. Travis County prosecutors say that they haven’t charged anyone with a sexual device-related crime in at least the past seven years, and probably much longer.

In 2003, a woman in the Fort Worth suburb of Burleson drew nationwide attention when she was arrested for selling erotic toys at a Tupperware-type party. The charges against Joanne Webb were later dropped.

In addition to Texas, whose law has survived previous state court challenges, three other states have a similar sex toys statute: Mississippi, Alabama and Virginia. Laws in Louisiana, Kansas, Colorado and Georgia have been thrown out by courts in recent years.

The 2-1 opinion by a panel of the 5th Circuit was based heavily on the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2003 decision in Lawrence and Garner v. Texas, which struck down a Texas law prohibiting private consensual sex among people of the same sex.

That case established a broad constitutional right to sexual privacy.

On the heels of that landmark ruling, Reliable Consultants Inc. sued Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earle and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott in 2004 in U.S. District Court in Austin.

They sought a declaratory judgment prohibiting the enforcement of the statute. Reliable Consultants at the time operated adult-oriented stores in Texas including two Dreamers stores and Le Rouge Boutique in Austin. The plaintiffs were later joined by PHE Inc., which operates an online and mail order adult store called Adam and Eve. The plaintiffs were never prosecuted but argued that because of the law their business was hindered and their customers were deprived of buying sex toys.

U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel in Austin dismissed the lawsuit after finding that there is no constitutionally protected right to publicly promote obscene devices.

On appeal, lawyers for the State of Texas, which had replaced Abbott as a defendant, argued that the Lawrence case invalidates laws that target private conduct but not laws prohibiting any commercial conduct. Justice Rhesa H. Barksdale agreed with that logic in his dissent.

The state also argued in a brief that Texas has legitimate “morality based” reasons for the laws, which include “discouraging prurient interests in autonomous sex and the pursuit of sexual gratification unrelated to procreation.”

A spokesman for Abbott, who filed the brief for the state and for Earle in court, declined to comment. They can ask for review of the case by the entire court, appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court or allow the case to return to Austin, where Yeakel would likely enter an order that would end enforcement of the law.

Jennifer Kinsley, a Cincinnati-based lawyer for Reliable Consultants, whose firm represents adult businesses nationwide, applauded the court’s ruling and said it would aid her clients and their customers.

“We believe that the rights of ordinary people are being violated by this law, and we are very happy this no longer is valid,” Kinsley said.

And, this from Mathew Harwood, Deadline USA of the Guardian Unlimited:

Hands off my pocket punanni!

Texans can finally do unto themselves and others what they feel like in their own bedrooms

We Americans are known for our prudence, and by that I mean our puritanism in regards to all matters sex, especially when things get weird. For instance, four states ban sex toys: Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, and the state I blog from, Virginia. Notice the geography: all four reside in the apparently not so dirty South. But fear not “sexual deviants” in Texas, sex toys can now be legally purchased, reports Slate.com:

According to the Texas (ahem) penal code, it is forbidden to sell or to advertise an artificial penis or vagina “primarily for the stimulation of human genital organs.” The statute makes an exception for instances in which the purchase meets a “medical, psychiatric, judicial, legislative, or law enforcement” need. Even so, in Reliable Consultants v. Ronnie Earle, the normally conservative 5th Circuit Court of Appeals struck down the ban on the grounds that it violated the right of ordinary citizens “to engage in private intimate conduct in the home without government intrusion.”

The exceptions to the ban are unintentionally hilarious. I beg someone to give me an example where a dildo could satisfy a legitimate law enforcement need. Although I guess a dildo could double as a night stick and a plastic vagina, handcuffs, if a situation out of the Naked Gun arose.

And for you journalists out there deep in the heart of Texas, want to make Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama squirm? Ask them if they support the circuit court’s ruling and then very coyly with a wink and a nod ask the follow-up question: Is it true that everything is bigger in Texas?

So, does making sex toys legal take the vicarious thrill away? Ummm, no! Someone from Austin was suggesting they could use their ‘fleshlight’ again without fear of imprisonment. Oh, MY! I do believe THAT is for men.

How about that Eliot Spitzer?

On another topic altogether…

Explain to me how Hillary managed to tie delegate votes with Obama in Texas when Hill and the x-Pres have been so heavily hated in the state, especially by men and provincial women. I still find it difficult to believe. I think the Republicans did what many advocated in across the State - Republicans vote in the Democratic Primary for Hillary. That just ain’t right.

I also find it a travesty that Florida and Michigan may be allowed to redo their primaries. If they wanted to be counted the first time, they should have followed the rules to agreed to for the primary.

My family is aghast and perturbed that I’m not a Hillary fanatic. The silly Republican bro’s. The idjuts probably voted for Huckitup. Sheesh. The parents just LOVE the Clintons. Me, I prefer checking what they do and not necessarily believing what they say.

Real Clear Politics is doing a fab job keeping up with the primary results. Previous link is popular vote and this one is Delegates.

Personally speaking:

I am one whipped puppy. Seriously. I finished up a project that started during my vacation in December and concluded last night … very successfully. But, I’m so tired, I could sleep for a month. 12-18 hour days non-stop.

So, hopefully, my work schedule will normalize a bit … except I have to catch up on everything I neglected to do that didn’t get accomplished due to the planning and implementation of the event I just concluded here. Damn.

My niece has a short film she produced last year with Laslo Rain at SXSW in Austin entitled “SHOT.” Damned Cool! It is screening 3 times, so try to catch it if you go to the festival. See link above for more info.

My friend Rob Dowling has some awesome paintings for sale. Must See!!!

Rob: I think you should consider the word “Serendipity.”

:: Australia elections go the way of Great Britain, Italy and Spain: defeated by Bush's war, Al Gore, and Climate Change ::

In the greatest defeat in Australian history (well damned close), “the man of steel” and one of Bush’s greatest allies in his war farce, John Howard turns over the reins to Labor Progressive Kevin Rudd. I bet my friend Kryten is happy!

This weekend, Australians went to the polls and delivered an emphatic victory for Labor leader Kevin Rudd, while handing the party of conservative Bush ally John Howard its “worst election defeat in its 63-year history.” Howard “suffered the additional ignominy of losing his own constituency seat” in addition to the prime minister’s seat, the first time since 1929 that an Australian prime minister has been voted out of parliament. Rudd, a Chinese-speaking former diplomat who made combating global warming, strengthening workers’ rights, and redeploying from Iraq key priorities in his campaign, ”swings Australia toward the political left after almost 12 years of conservative rule.” The incoming prime minister has wasted no time implementing his new vision for Australia. Yesterday, he convened a meeting with government officials to discuss the mechanics of signing onto the Kyoto pact on global warming, and he announced that he will attend a U.N. climate change conference in Bali next month. Rudd soon plans to begin negotiations with the Bush administration over the withdrawal of Australia’s 500 troops from Iraq. “Today Australia looks to the future,” Rudd said. “Today the Australian people have decided that we as a nation will move forward.”

… More than 60 percent of Australians want forces out of Iraq within a year, and Rudd pledged that Australian troops would leave by mid-2008 after consultations with the United States and the United Kingdom. Analysts noted that Bush “was a little more isolated in the world Sunday” after the loss of his close Australian ally.

I love this guy and know zero about him, other than the above. Interestingly enough, a magnificent Al Gore went to the White House as the Nobel Peace Prize winner (a hell of a rematch) for An Inconvenient Truth and chatted with Bush regarding, wait for it…… Climate Change! I suspect it went in one ear and out the other. With his other, powerful, naysayer pal Howard out of the way and Rudd’s intent to sign the Kyoto Accord, I hope this will now put more pressure on the U.S. to buck up and get on the train or get left behind.

CLIMATE CHANGE DENIAL LOSING STEAM: For many years, Howard was one of the world’s foremost climate deniers, tag-teaming with the Bush administration to remain the only major industrialized nations to stay out of the international agreement to cut greenhouse gas emissions. Until a few months ago when Howard moderated his climate change rhetoric for political reason, he and his ministers frequently “pooh-poohed the climate-change doomsayers.” When former vice president Al Gore traveled to Australia in September to deliver a speech on the climate crisis, Howard prohibited his party members from attending the event. With Australia mired in the midst of the worst drought the country has faced in a thousand years, Howard’s climate change denial put him in a political position isolated from his countrymen. The majority of Australians viewed climate change as the number one external threat to the country, and Rudd delivered what Australia wanted to hear. “I am determined to make Australia part of the global climate change solution — not just part of the global climate change problem,” Rudd said during his campaign.

Life is grand when it backfires on nasty people and gives the good people their due.

:: Naked Brunch: Of Impeachment & Snowmen ::

When Snowmen Go Bad by R. Dowling
Rob Dowling
has begun the second year of his snowman series, entitled "The Snowman Chronicles." The first is simply a hoot! I have several of these from last year and I love them. In fact, I am bidding on #1 in the series right now named, "When Snowmen Go Bad." The bidding is open on the first in this series until November 16th. Keep an eye out for more in the series by checking my sidebar under Robert Dowling. The bidding was wild on these paintings last year, so bid soon, bid often and bid to win. I plan to.

Tori Amos will be in town at the Majestic on Monday, November 26th.
I wish I could find a decent ticket. Until then, here are some of my favorite renditions of "Leather," "Crucify" (live from Paris), and "Smells Like Teen Spirit." Amos is a powerful performer. Which is why I won't reduce myself to rotten tickets. I want in the first 5 rows. Maybe, I'll just go to Paris. I've been considering flying to Scotland to see Ray LaMontagne (Abbey Road: go to Footage, select LaMontagne), anyway. BTW, don't forget, you can check out some of my all time favorite music videos and cool movies at Live Digital.

The battle waged in the House over the impeachment of Dicklesshead Cheney, as pressed by Dennis Kucinich is impressive. Go Dennis! And, those so-called leadership Dems that don't agree....go fuck yourselves, you weakminded assholes. Not the time? When is the time? When we go to war with Iran based on fabricated BS again? The Raw Story has the letter Kucinich wrote to the Judiciary Committee Chair, John Conyers regarding H. Res. 799, the Articles of Impeachment against VP Cheney.

Who the hell is Hannah Montana and why the hell should anyone give a shit? Absurd!

Mukasey doesn't know that Kings and Waterboarding are bad for Democracy:

"Are we just going to have another attorney general that's just going to kowtow to the king -- the president. I'm sorry I get those terms kinda confused here when I'm talking about Bush; I don't know if he's king or president," Harkin told his colleagues from the Senate floor Thursday.

Port-a-John

I've been out of town again for the past week and returned Friday night. The whole week was basically a mini-nightmare travel misadventure. That should be it for a while anyway for my traveling, workwise. Whew. At least I came back to good news that the little town I live in of a whopping 6,000 people were smart enough to pass the charter granting the City Home Rule Authority rather than General Law City.

WHY???? (Stupid)

Gossip
Title: Insanity
Its been quite amazing to see people get worked up about these books in recent weeks. Before I read them, I had never once heard of them, but no a lot of people are in a stir. Truth be told, my thoughts about the "anti-religion" theme to the series is that it is only secondary, and really the books are just about an amazing adventure. If parents are so concerned with their kids becoming atheist after reading or watching the movie, then maybe they should be more apt to discuss the difference between their reality and fiction with their kids.

I agree. Here's the teaser:

Weird Plant Growth

On Vibrator Smuggling....and more!

Little known Vibrator facts:

The treatment wasn't generally thought of as sexual, but rather as ho-hum therapy. Not surprisingly, it was a cash cow for the medical profession. Women had to return week after week, year after year. But doing it by hand was exhausting, tedious work; some women had to be massaged for an hour before they reached paroxysm.

The use of vulvular massage as a therapy for "hysterical" patients dates back to Hippocrates. During the 19th century, it caught on as a treatment for the rampantly diagnosed afflictions hysteria and neurasthenia. The doctor of Alice James, the sickly sister of the famous Henry and William, probably brought her routinely to "hysterical paroxysm."

Thus, entrepreneurial doctors experimented with mechanizing the process. Hydrotherapy—the shooting of water directly at the patient's reproductive region—proved effective and became quite fashionable. It had its drawbacks, though: It was messy, expensive, and not easily portable.

Wow. My doctor never did this for me before...
I'm gonna go have me some hydrotherapy now. Good day.

:: Holy Shiite: Bush Administration betrays us all ::

This is a followup from a post I wrote on Sunday regarding Seymour Hershs' article in the New Yorker. After a deeper read and understanding of the implications of what he wrote, well, I was appalled then, now I'm absolutely sickened. It's Iran Contra all over again.  Surprising?  No. THE REDIRECTION: Is the Administration’s new policy benefitting our enemies in the war on terrorism?

Check out the reaction on AlterNet

Our own government is supporting Al Qaida and others. Additionally, is Negraponte's change in position including supposition he moved for this very reason.

Bush supports betrays the troops.

Is it any wonder that more Americans trust Congress more than Bush? Or, that 2 out of 3 disagree with Bush's surge sending more troops to Iraq? And, this is a new low:

The poll also registered a new low on the question of whether the Iraq war was worth fighting. Thirty-four percent responded that it was, while 64 percent said it was not -- 51 percent strongly. On this question, 51 percent of military veterans and 53 percent of veteran households said they strongly believe that the war was not worth fighting.

It's great people are finally figuring this out. But, it should never have taken this long. Such waste. I'm going to be sick now.

:: Naked Brunch: Out of Control ::

People in prison for 5-10 years for possession of an ounce or even two of Marijuana, at it's root level Hemp (Cannabis sativa), a plant species used to make rope and now clothing.  The bud of which is smoked, like tobacco, for it's calming effect on the nervous system.  I know quite a few people who would be better for it if they smoked the stuff.  And, people are thrown in jail for it on a felony charge.  When I can go into any health food store and combine herbal supplements and get a similar effect legally.  The fact that Hemp was banned in the U.S. due to stupidity rather than the reality of it's "drug" effect seems to matter not 75 years later.  The fact that the drug is now used by health professional in many states as the only thing that readily helps glaucoma and cancer patients, among others, is proof and evident that it can serve a real purpose other than "getting high."  (Personally, I don't see how you can get high on a depressant.  It's absurd.)  It is legal in the U.S. to subscribe Cocaine, Methadone, Barbiturates, Amphetamines, among other controlled substances.  What the hell is wrong with Marijuana, a drug that is non-addictive and harms no one.  The absurdity stuns me.

This leads me to this story in the Washington Post about Jessica Hall.  Our laws are out of control, when someone is put in jail for tossing a cup of ice into a passing car window.  The situation is more complicated than that, but, the crime doesn't come close to meting out the ultimate punishment.  This is absolutely fucking insane.  It's like being sued by your Homeowners Association and being thrown out of your subdivision and fined for leaving your garage door open once during the day. The Crime doesn't equal the punishment.  I'd like to see people petition the Tim Kaine, Governor of Virginia to pardon this woman immediately.  She has clearly learned her lesson already without more of this crap and her record should be cleared of the Felony charge.  A fucking missile.  For fucks sake people.  The judge, jury and especially the prosecutor must feel really proud of this moment.  Implementation of this stupid law needs serious refinement.  I doubt anyone who created the legislation meant anything like this.  And, if they did, they are seriously wrongheaded.  A McDonald's waxed paper cup filled with ice.  Cripes.  Even the people it was aimed at think this is stupid and all she should have faced was a day of community service.

This is the enemy, make no mistake:  Mitch McConnell of Ky., Sen Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., John Boehner, R-Ohio, Rep. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., and Rep. Adam Putnam, R-Fla.   Total clusterfucks, each and every one of them.  Those that voted against the resolution in the Senate yesterday include Lieberman, the gigantic idiot, as well as these Republics

Alexander (Tenn.), Allard (Colo.), Brownback (Kan.), Bunning (Ky.), Burr (N.C.), Chambliss (Ga.), Coburn (Okla.), Cornyn (Tex.), Craig (Idaho), Crapo (Idaho), DeMint (S.C.), Dole (N.C.), Domenici (N.M.), Enzi (Wyo.), Graham (S.C.), Grassley (Iowa), Gregg (N.H.), Hutchison (Tex.), Inhofe (Okla.), Isakson (Ga.), Lott (Miss.), Lugar (Ind.), Martinez (Fla.), McConnell (Ky.), Roberts (Kan.), Sessions (Ala.), Shelby (Ala.), Stevens (Alaska), Sununu (N.H.), Thomas (Wyo.), Thune (S.D.), Vitter (La.), Voinovich (Ohio).
