Fair And Balanced: Fox News Orlando Edition

Fox News Orlando ran the headline, "Civil rights group patrolling Sanford." This maybe the first and only time the National Socialist Movement has ever been called a civil rights organization. The NSM was founded by former American Nazi Party member Robert Brannen. The Southern Poverty Law Center has listed the NSM as a hate group. The NSM didn't lose the Nazi uniforms until 2007.

This is what Fox News Orlando calls a civil rights group.

Update: I should note that the National Socialist Movement claims they came to Sanford because they received calls from local citizens concerned for their safety. Don't people usually call the police before an out of state neo nazi group on matters of public safety? The NSM is just exploiting Trayvon Martin's death for publicity.

Another thing that always bothered me about neo nazis is they don't seem to realize Germany lost during WWII. The neo nazi movement didn't work out well for the German people.

Derek Black is Back (Unfortunately)

Derek Black is the son of former Klu Klux Klan grand wizard Don Black. In 2007, The younger Black attempted to get himself elected to the Palm Beach County's Republican Executive Committee. David Duke is a supporter of Black attempting to gain access into the Florida GOP. Chair Sid Dinerstein cited Black's failure to sign a loyalty oath pledge and white supremist activities as reasons for being barred from the Committee.

"He participates in white supremacist activities," Dinerstein said. "We're the party of Lincoln. We're the party that says we don't judge anybody by the color of their skin."

Flash forward two years later: Black is legally fighting the decision that kept him from the Republican Executive Committee. Black is still losing.

The Aug. 26 ruling by the 3rd District Court of Appeals upheld a lower court’s order that the Miami-Dade GOP seat 19 people who won elections but were disqualified by the loyalty oath requirement. The appeals court said the Miami-Dade GOP hadn’t given the candidates adequate notice of a new deadline for the loyalty oath.

Black’s attorney, Lee Levenson of Boynton Beach, contends the Palm Beach County GOP failed to tell Black and other candidates of a new Republican Party of Florida requirement that they sign the oath by June 20, 2008 rather than before taking office in December 2008.

Black should just become a Tea Party candidate and give up being accepted by the Republican Party. Tea Party activists, such as Dale Robertson, would probably welcome Black. The picture below is Robertson at a Tea Party rally.

Glenn Beck Is Truly Despicable

To show how unpatriotic Glenn Beck really is: the pundit tells his "nephew" not to re-enlist. Beck falsely claims President Barack Obama and the Democrats in Congress want to portray soldiers as baby killers. Beck is attempting to restart the political culture wars of the Vietnam era.

This is what Obama actually says about America's soldiers.

The Secret Service is investigating who wrote "I," the swastika and Obama onto the grass of a golf course in Lakeville, Mass. Course owner wants whoever is responsible found.

"It's just so insulting to the human race and it just shouldn't be part of our doings by anybody. I just can't understand it. It's unforgivable," course owner Gary Mosca told WBZ.

The web site the Right Perspective serves up serious bullshit by implying the culprit may have actually placed as the Hindu and Buhdist symbol for good luck. I say good luck having people believe that utter nonsense. It amazes me the Right feels the need to defend this kind of hatemongering. Ann Coulter even gave the hysterical suggestion that the Left was bringing Obama/Nazi signs to tea parties.

Offensive Obama Sign In McCain Campaign Office

The John McCain campaign off in Pompano Beach, Florida hung a poster that compared Barack Obama to Karl Marx, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, and Benito Mussolini. The first complaint was issued by a Republican.

The issue was raised by Jeffrey Sanders of Boynton Beach, who said he saw the sign Thursday when he stopped to pick up tickets for today's McCain rally at Florida International University.

"To label someone as the next Hitler is beyond outrageous [and] offensive. And it needs to be addressed. And if Barack Obama does the same thing to McCain I would expect the same reaction," he said. "That was not American."

Sanders, 23, is a registered Republican. The Palm Beach Community College student said he is thinking about voting for Obama.

Young Southern conservatives are much more racially tolerate. College Republicans may be a farm system for future Republican leadership. However, many Twenty-something Republicans have no desire to fight the sixties cultural issues, again. The problem is the elder Republicans are stuck on Vietnam and the civil rights issues. Democrats lost Southern elections (but saved the country) by winning the Vietnam and civil rights debate. Southern Democrats were wrong about Vietnam (Lyndon Johnson) and civil rights (Richard Russell.) Republicans used resentment towards the changes in America to pull Democratic voters into the Republican Party. Guns, religion and abortion were used to pull more Southern voters.

The GOP gained a strangle hold on the South. The side effect is Southern Republican activists viewed Democrats as anti-Christian and anti-American. The last three Democratic presidents were Southerners. The only way Southerners would vote a a Democrat for president is if he was one of them.

There should be no surprise that a sign linking Obama to famous distators hangs in a McCain campaign office. The mainstream Southern Republican activists attitude is any Democratic presidential hates America. The warming signs have been there for those that bothered to pay attention. Fox News and Ann Coulter exist to tell these conservatives what they want to hear. There is no money to be made without an audience. Ask local stage actors and musicians.

The GOP has used racism and faux patriotism to garner votes. A black presidential candidate leading, in the polls, is a testiment to the need for the GOP to become more inclusive. Republicans have pushed to curtain gay rights. In 2008, there is a record number of gay and lesbian candidates. Linda Ketner is running in South Carolina's 1st District.

However, neither Ketner nor her opponent, four-term Republican incumbent Henry Brown, has raised her sexual orientation as an election issue, and Ketner's campaign has turned down requests for interviews that would highlight the topic.

"She happens to be gay -- she's not a gay candidate," said Tony Snell of the South Carolina Gay and Lesbian Pride Movement.

"Throughout the South, there's softening on the gay issue," he said. "It's becoming more of a non-issue as we look at the economy, we look at the war. ... People are going to go beyond their old biases."

What we seeing is blowback to years of negative GOP attacks. Unfortunately, these shameful tactics should have stopped with the disgraced Richard Nixon.

Hatelary

Hate being channeled by Hillary’s rabid supporters is one thing. While reprehensible, the national campaign still can’t be fingered since this invective has been spewed on websites independent of the campaign. But when the Hillary campaign starts promoting hate directly from an author on No Quarter, that’s different — and a lot worse.

And it’s one thing to have a No Quarter author link to and promote another hateful author, but when one of their own author’s is caught calling Michelle Obama a “blowjob queen” and a skank, that’s different — and a lot worse.

Over at Rumproast, Kevin K’s got the goods on No Quarter author Truthteller posting hated filled comments about Michelle Obama on different sites, and having one of his posts promoted by the Hillary campaign. It’s detailed and you should read the whole thing. And I suppose some will say that the particular post by Turthteller that the Hillary campaign linked to doesn’t have any overt hate in it, so what’s the problem? Well, if David Duke said something mundane and I linked to it, wouldn’t — nay, shouldn’t – you have a problem with that? Same thing here. If the source is this hateful then it discredits everything else they’ve said.

And let’s make sure we have “hateful” clearly defined here. Using profane language to express feelings of anger is simply that, but making misogynist comments about Obama’s wife, calling her a “blowjob queen” and a “skank” — that’s just hate, pure and simple.

When the Hillary campaign is promoting an article from an author like this, they’ve stepped over the line. They’ve become connected to No Quarter. And now the campaign has something we deserve an answer for.

Coulter continues to beam with pride over the fact that she called John Edwards a "faggot"

Ann Coulter spammed me with an email a few days ago, telling me her new book is coming out soon. And it'll be great. So great, in fact, Ann belts out this line to compare it with her other work:

For liberals who enjoy exclaiming, "This time, she's gone too far!" the quotes in this book will make that crack about Edwards look like a frosty beer on a hot summer day.

Classy.

I must admit, Coulter knows her target audience. I was there when Coulter uttered her infamous crack about Edwards. And despite all the token repudiation from wingnut bloggers who like to try and make us think that Coulter doesn't espouse the values of the conservative movement, the conservative base spoke for themselves. As I collected my jaw from the floor directly after Coulter's bombshell, everyone around me -- and I mean everyone -- were cheering as loud as they could. And I was surrounded by thousands of conservatives.

Coulter knows that what she said is wrong, but instead of offering an apology or even trying to distance herself from the Edwards crack, she's using it to pimp her new book.

No recantation, no shame. No recognition of any wrongdoing. How so very... Republican.
