No Love For Jeb Bush and Chris Christie At CPAC

Fake journalist Sean Hannity ran off names of potential presidential candidates to the crowd at CPAC. Scott Walker and Rand Paul got the biggest cheers. The crowd booed when the names of Jeb Bush and Chris Christie were mentioned. Christie has avoided talking about immigration reform. Bush has shown an openness to some dorm of immigration reform in the past. The crowd at CPAC is booing because Christie and Bush aren't racist enough for their tastes.

Write A Caption: Morning Joe

Via Daily Kos: the team of Morning Joe are sad because they are forced out of denial on Chris Christie's role in the BridgeGate scandal. Daily Kos blogger Billionaires for Wealthcare notes how painful it is for Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough to come out of their conventional wisdom bubble and face reality.

Reading the headline that Christie never read the statement attacking Wildstein's high school record, Brzezinski asked incredulously, and with dejection in her voice, "how is the possible".

Scarborough jumped in, "there's no way he didn't see it". He went further, saying he didn't believe Christie's claims that he didn't know about the traffic nightmare when it was occurring. He twisted himself into a pretzel saying Christie wasn't behind the traffic jam, but Christie had to know the world's busiest bridge had turned into a parking lot.

Scarborough is still trying to defend Christie but his heart just doesn't seem to be in it. The good news is Christie still has the gang at Fox and Friends backing him.

Rick Scott Uses Back Entrance For Christie Fundraiser

There was this interesting tidbit from The New York Times on Chris Christie's recent political problems. This involves Gov. Rick Scott.

His aides refuse to disclose the location of his fund-raising appearances, and the Republican candidates for whom he is raising money seem reluctant to stand beside him in public. In Florida a few weeks ago, Gov. Rick Scott was driven into the back entrance of an event with Mr. Christie, to avoid gathered reporters and demonstrators.

Scott would rather get a root canal than speak to the media. You can ask Scott about the minimum wage, the technical failures of the state unemployment website or if he supported Congressional Republicans shutting down the government. Scott will avoid giving a straight answer and flee from reporters. Scott certainly doesn't want to face reporters and answer question on the Bridgegate scandal.

Shocking News: Florida Republican Donors Heart Chris Christie

Gov. Chris Christie came to Florida to raise money for Gov. Rick Scott. Are Republican donors bothered by the allegations of the BridgeGate scandal? Hell no. Talking Points Memo reports Christie got a standing ovation during the fundraiser dinner.

But the source, who asked not to be named, said the scandal didn't deter donors. The source said Christie got a standing ovation at the first fundraiser of the day and that hundreds of donors attended the events.

This reminds me of when former Florida House Speaker Ray Samson was forced to resign. Republicans were singing the praises for Samson. For those that don't remember, Samson was indicted and found not guilty. of grand theft. Samson earmarked money for Florida State College to get an airplane hanger. Samson was later hired by the university. Why Republicans would view Samson and Christie as heroes is an interesting question.

Guess Who is Coming to Rick Scott's Dinner?

Talking Points Memo reports that Chris Christie will be the headliner at Gov. Rick Scott's fundraising dinner in Orlando.

The trip will include an event Saturday at the Country Club of Orlando to benefit Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R). Tickets for the fundraiser, where Christie is billed as a "special guest" cost between $1,000 and $2,500.

Christie will also headline fundraisers in West Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale. Wow. This is like the Chris Christie Lollapalooza. Will Radiohead be on the bill?

Did Chris Christie Try to Stop BridgeGate Investigation

Daily Kos posted this piece from the Wall Street Journal (paid subscription) about how Gov. Chris Christie called New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on the week of December 12. The date is very important. Christie said in his press conference that he only found out his staffers plotted to close the lanes to the day before.

Mr. Christie, a Republican, complained in a private phone call to Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat, that Patrick Foye, the executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, was pressing too hard to get to the bottom of why the number of toll lanes onto the bridge from Fort Lee, N.J. was cut from three to one in early September, according to this person. The lane closures occurred without notice to local authorities, officials have said, and snarled traffic for a week in the small borough on the Hudson River bluffs.

The question is if Christie didn't know that his staffers were plotting to create a traffic jam then why did he call Cuomo to get Foye to back off on his investigation?

Quote of the Day

"As a guy who grew up in New Jersey, I'm disappointed, ashamed of the state I grew up in. Political payback through traffic congestion? To see New Jersey sink to such a piss-poor, third-rate quality of corruption....This is New Jersey! A state renowned for its piss-rich, first-rate corruption."

Chris Christie vs Romney Staffers

Gov. Chris Christie lashed out against Mitt Romney campaign staffers. Christie described Romney's team as "know-nothing, disgruntled” people.

"So all this other noise, I think, are coming from know-nothing, disgruntled Romney staffers who, you know, don’t like the fact that I said nice things about the president of the United States,” Christie said at a news conference on Tuesday. “Well, that is too bad for them."

Ouch.

Christie told The Hill that he told Romney he would not attend any campaign events if Hurricane Sandy hit New Jersey. I don't have a dog in this fight. But it is interesting to see how Team Romney is going after Christie.
