Mike Thomas Fan Letter to Rick Scott

Benjamin Kirby wrote that Howard Troxler and Carl Hiaasen should get over the election of Rick Scott.

Was I depressed when hospital grifter Rick Scott and a veto-proof hard-right Republican Legislature got elected in November? Yes. For a couple of weeks. In fact, maybe I'm still a little upset -- but I have also moved past it.

You'd better do the same, if only for your own sanity. I'd say the same thing to Troxler and Hiaasen.

Fortunately, for Kirby, Orlando Sentinel columnist Mike Thomas answers the call with an op-ed about how much he loves Scott.

•There is no Solantic conspiracy. This was one of the loonier theories pushed by Democrats. Scott supposedly invested $70 million on a long-shot gamble to become governor so he somehow could direct enough state business to his Solantic clinics to make it all back, and more. That almost is up there with Obama being born in Kenya. Now that Scott is selling his share in the clinics, we can put this behind us unless Donald Trump runs for governor in 2014.

I wonder how many op-eds like that Kirby can read? I'm sure it won't be the last penned by Thomas.

Thomas offers up his latest column as an apology for his pro-offshore drilling stance. What I find interesting is Thomas admitting he failed to do his job as a journalist and fact-check. Someone explain to me where is this imaginary liberal media conservatives keep talking about.

Kendrick Meek in His Own Words

Kendrick Meek has taken exception with a Mike Thomas op-ed. Meek needed to respond to the allegations that he placed earmarks in the budget, in return for favors developer Dennis Stackhouse did for his mother Carrie Meek and former Chief of Staff Anthony Williams.

Meek does not deny that Stackhouse leased a Cadillac for his mother. Meek said he was unaware.

I am not my mother's accountant. She saved money her entire life, and had leased two Cadillacs previously. Why would I ask her about a third lease?

Meek said he was not aware of Stackhouse helping Williams with his mortgage until recently.

Weeks ago I learned a former member of my staff allowed the same developer to help him get a home loan. He abused the privilege of his position. Had I known about his activities, he would have been fired. He has not worked for me in more than three years.

That is Meek's version of the events.

Is Mike Thomas Hot or Not

Someone please explain to me why Mike Thomas has a cloumn. Thomas has always portrayed a conservative streak. Unsurprising, considering the Orlando Sentinel is a right-leaning newspaper. I never read Thomas because he wasn't that interesting a columnist. I was web surfing and ran into his latest column. Thomas is annoyed that Bill McCollum and Alex Sink do not meet his charisma standard. This is the pot calling the kettle Michael Dukakis. What did strike me has strange is Thomas's sudden man crush on McCollum.

Bill's makeover is amazing. Gone is the geek. He is posed on top of the Web page, no tie, smiling broadly, wearing some seriously stylin' specs, coming darn close to looking sexy in a Republican kind of way.

I never thought the word "sexy" would be used to describe as Bill McCollum. Below is the picture of the newly sexed-up McCollum. You can make your own judgement.



In defense to Thomas, he wrote "darn close" to sexy. Still, it is a real hack piece of writing. It is unfair to McCollum and Sink to turn the gubernatorial race into a hot or not contest. That is why I have a problem with Thomas focused on the candidates looks and charisma. That is why is is only fair to do a poll on Mike Thomas's hotness. Readers, cast your votes.
