Holy S**t, Mickey Kaus Ran For Senate

I wished I knew sooner that Mickey Kaus was running for Senate. To prove my theory that Kaus is an unserious man; he was foolish enough to run against Barbara Boxer. The vote count was not even close.

BOXER - 80.5 percent
KAUS - 5.3 percent

I also love the fact Kause used the amatuerism Site Builder for his Senate canidacy web site. According to OpenSecrets.org, Kaus raised $32,083 and still had $12,104 on hand. What exactly was he saving the money for? Kaus is so out of touch that he thought his vanity campaign would enhance his image. Wow.

Kaus presents his defeat as a moral victory.

And wee still ripped off more than a 100,000 votes from a three because there is a large group of voters who are dissatisfied with the prevailing dogma of the party.

I entered the race because I wanted to start up an argument among Democrats about the party's direction -- about the need to say "no" to the unions and to insist on securing the borders before we even talk about amnesty.

Actually Mickey, you only got 94,298 votes. I don't know where you think you got over a 100,000 votes. I am getting my numbers from the California Sec. of State office.

Kaus thinks the two issues most on Democratic voters minds is contempt for Hispanics and unions. Kaus has been blogging his disdain of unions and immigration for years. He is actually stupid enough to think Mexicans will stop coming over the border if there is some magic security. As long as there is immense poverty, lack of education, corropt and drug wars Mexicans will flee their home country. Canada has universal health care and a staple economy. That is why we don't have a mas exodus of Canadians coming into America.

Contrary to what Kaus believes from his neoliberal training; union are the reason we have safe work places, child labor laws and (increasin) equal pay for genders. I like to hear the economically iliterate Kaus say what has neoliberal ideas done for the job market

Mickey Kaus, going off the deep end by running a National Enquirer article against John Edwards.

It is hard to believe that Kaus used to once be an editor at Newsweek. Even Fox News has the sense to avoid a fantasy piece from a tabloid rag. Someone is always having a love child in the pages of The Enquirer. We might read about Ann Coulter having Kaus's love child. Although, I would rather not think about the possibility.

Great Moments in Conservative Punditry: Mickey Kaus

It is always fun to point out how conservatives are wrong. Case in point is pseudo-Democrat Mickey Kaus. He deemed immigration xenophobia a great issue for Republicans to run on in the 2006 midterms.

Immigration has several characteristics that suggest it's a good locomotive for GOP victory in November: 1) Voters say it's an important issue; 2) A majority wants some sort of border-control action; 3) The GOP base feels intensely about it; 4) Many Congressional Democrats are--by ideology or interest group pressure--locked in to a pro-immigrant, non-tough stance (or if they strike a tough pose it seems just that). In all these respects, immigration resembles welfare reform, a key hot-button base-mobilizing issue for Republicans in the 1994 midterms. ...

Republicans lost the Hispanic vote and the midterm elections. Great call, Mickey.

Kaus doesn't realize that the base isn't the general electorate. He actually believed Republicans could run on did this still court Hispanics. He is delusional.

If the anti-immigration base made their own party and ran Tom Tancredo, we would quickly found out that their general election numbers would be smaller than what Ralph Nader posted in 2004.

Two Neoliberals Meet Facebook

New Republic alumni Robert Wright and Mickey Kaus discuss Facebook. Their discussion reminds me of debates on what blogging is all about. Wright wonders what the big deal is. The fuss is people talking overanalyzing new forms of internet technology. I remember when the media would break down the merits of Friendster like it was a calculus.

I use Facebook to network with other progressive political activists and promote Pushing Rope Facebook Group. I find Facebook easy to use. I have no plans of forming a Pushing Rope Myspace Group. The Myspace layouts are ugly and the software sucks. The only reason the site took off was because of the musical artists posting MP3s. Myspace is great for music. The other services are lackluster.

Kaus and Wright remind me of Patrick Bateman in American Psycho spending hours wazing poetic about Phil Collins lyrics. Facebook isn't meant to start a revolution. It's a social media site that people can either use or not.
