Quote of the Day

Did The Onion write the latest Sarah Palin tweet?

"Refudiate," "misunderestimate," "wee-wee'd up." English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!

What the fuck is "wee-wee'd up." And do I even want to know. Comparing Shakespeare's groundbreaking use of language to the infamous Bushism that is "misunderestimate" is a stretch. Watch Marlon Brando and John Gielgud perform scenes from Julius Caesar and The Tempest and tell me if you ever heard Sarah Palin speak with such eloquence.

Great Acting Moments: Brando & Leigh

A Streetcar Named Desire took a toll on Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh. Brando hated the long Broadway run and never did another play. Brando broke his nose boxing during the run and was happy for the layoff.

Leigh was manic depressive and her stunt doing the West End production and film version of Streetcar wore her down.

"I had nine months in the theatre of Blanche DuBois. Now she's in command of me," Leigh said.

This is the infamous rape scene. It is a credit to Brando and Leigh that they can make such vile people so watchable. Their is nothing redeeming about Stanley Kowalski and Blanche DuBois.
