Michael Smith Running For Largo City Commission

Michael Smith is an openly gay man. He is running for the Largo City Commission. Equality Florida is making an online push to help get Smith elected.

Smith is a member of Friends of Largo and Seminole Libraries. Smith has worked as a librarian and is a lifelong resident of Pinellas County. Smith's issues positions is standard left of center policy. It would be nice if Smith released the kind of detailed policy proposals that Bob Buckhorn did when he was a Mayoral candidate.

It is interesting to see an openly gay candidate running for the Largo City Commission. The commission forced out Susan Stanton (then Steve Stanton.) Smith's candidacy is a positive turn from the xenophobia targeted at Stanton in 2007.
