SAFE WINS ONE FOR VOTERS

The Sarasota Alliance for Fair Elections won a major court victory for voters.

A controversial charter amendment that would resurrect the paper ballot in Sarasota County must be placed on the Nov. 7 ballot, a judge ruled Wednesday.

The amendment, drafted by a group that distrusts the electronic, touch screen machines used by Sarasota and 14 other counties - including Pinellas, Hillsborough and Pasco - is constitutional and has met all ballot requirements, Circuit Judge Robert B. Bennett Jr. said in his ruling.

The Sarasota County Commission were more concerned with ass-covering than fair elections. The commission sued SAFE after they got enough sinatures for the ballot. They stalled by asking Judge Robert B. Bennett Jr on the constitutionality of the ballot. The mind reels from the thought that there are people that argue insuring proper vote counting maybe illegal.

Elections Supervisor Kathy Dent has been doing damage control. She has been telling constituents that everything is fine. If they found out how easy voting machines can be hacked - Dent would have much explaining to do.
