Shocking News: Reps. Blackburn & Rohrabacher Dodge Question on CNN

Reps. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) did not want to answer CNN host Ashleigh Banfield's question on his they would be willing to not be paid during of government shutdown. Don't count on Blackburn or Rohrabacher to sponsor an amendment for suspension of pay in the continuing resolution.

BLACKBURN: We are waiting to see what they send back, and I hope that as you were running the countdown clock that you are I have two grandsons, and their share of the national debt is now over $53,000 each.

BANFIELD: No no no. I’m sorry. I asked a specific question, and there are a lot of the government workers going to stop receiving their paychecks, and a there are a lot of the military service members who are serving overseas who might be stopped being paid and veterans whose benefits will be affected. Would you —

ROHRABACHER: Let me answer that. Members of Congress should not be treated any differently than any other federal employee.

BANFIELD: Is that a yes?

ROHRABACHER: Whatever happens to us when it comes to what we get in benefits and whether it is retirement or health care and whatever happens to the average federal employee should happen to us, and that rule should not be changed.

Republicans are now getting called out on their phony fiscal conservative bullshit by the media. It's about time.

Marsha Blackburn On American Motors

AMC was known for having ugly and unsafe cars. Because of their major stockholder being assassinated and financial problems,AMC went bought out by Chrysler. AMC no longer exists. However, that hasn't stopped Rep. Marsha Blackburn from accusing President Obama for being responsible for AMC jobs being outsourced to China.

CHIRS JENSING (HOST): Let me ask you about some of the things going on on the campaign trail, and there’s a controversy about Mitt Romney telling voters that jeep is going to move production to China. According to the company that’s entirely false. Is he lying about that?

BLACKBURN: Oh, well, I don’t know. I haven’t talked with with the campaign staff about that. I will say this. For workers in the auto industry, across the board, whether it is GM, whether it’s Nissan, whether it’s American Motors, individuals are very concerned about the impact of regulation that the EPA and OSHA and other federal agencies are heaping on our manufacturers.

Everyone misspeaks from time to time. I don't expect Rep. Blackburn to be perfect. What bothers me is that Miss Blackburn seems to have no interest in educating herself on if Mitt Romney's accusation of auto industry jobs moving to China. Blackburn seems more interested in talking points.

Romney has been using constant attacks against China. I don't believe for a minute that Romney is going to stop companies like Wal-Mart from outsourcing jobs to China. Romney has focus group his China attacks and wants to play on Asian xenophobia. Romney doesn't have a policy to deal with China stealing patents or price-fixing the yen. Romney has talking points.

Aren't we suppose to call an emergency during a hurricane or Tsunami? Those acts of nature, that actually kill people, are rather dangerous.

Blackburn vs. Shulter

Marsha Blackburn defends Rush Limbaugh calling Senator Chuck Hagel "Senator Betrayus." Blackburn said the difference is Limburgh didn't buy a New York Times ad. Blackburn was outrage over Moveon.org, but didn't know that the name of the last soldier from her district to have died in Iraq.

Shulter named a soldier, Jeremy Bohannon, who did not die in Blackburn's district.

DAVID SHUSTER: On Monday evening while guest-hosting the 6 p.m. evening hour, I conducted an interview with Tennessee Republican Marsha Blackburn. The congresswoman spoke at length about a newspaper ad that criticized General Petraeus. In what I believed was an effort to examine Representative Blackburn's priorities, I then asked her to name the last soldier from her congressional district killed in Iraq.

She responded "the name of the last soldier killed in Iraq from my district, I do not know." After that response, I identified who I believed to be that fallen soldier, a Tennessean killed in Iraq last month. But according to Pentagon documents, that young man came from a town inside a neighboring congressional district, not from Representative Blackburn's, and for that, I apologize for that mistake.

Whoops.

That's a bad error on Shulter's part. Conservative bloggers are eating it up. Nevermind, that Blackburn was more obsessed with Moveon.org than remembering the fallen.

I hated the Moveon.org ad. They deserve the grief they are getting.

Republicans want to turn attention away from how badly the war is going. General Petraeus's did little to change public opinion. Republicans use patriotism, gun, gays and abortion as wedge issues. When people are discontent with the administration, there is only so much traction the GOP can get from the Moveon.org ad. There always is the option of governing like adults...
