Write A Caption: John Stemberger Edition

Anyone else see the problem with noted gay marriage basher John Stemberger wearing a "God Over Money" T-shirt while standing in front of his Lexus? Stemberger posted this comedy masterpiece on Twitter. Stemberger is a fan of ant-gay rights rapper Bizzle. I never heard the song since I don't hangout with Christian Right hipsters. Joe Jervis explains.

Florida hate group leader and fly champagne Lexus owner John Stemberger is referring to Bizzle, the rapper who was so outraged by the weddings at this year's Grammys that he issued a parody of Macklemore's Same Love in which he compared homosexuality to pedophilia and mental retardation with a bonus reference to Down Syndrome for extra Christian Love™ points. Courageous and godly!

I look forward to Stemberger discovering the Christian lyrics of NWA.

Dubious Rubio Hearts John Stemberger

Orlando social conservative activist John Stemberger is obsessed with the LGBT community. Stemberger has dedicated his life to demonizing gay people. Stemberger thinks a lot about what gay 17 year-olds will do in the Boy Scouts.

In an interview with Tony Perkin, Stemberger continues his obsession with boy on boy sex in the Boy Scouts.

What they’re thinking of is a little boy saying, ‘oh I think I’m attracted to guys, I think I’m gay,’ well that’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the sixteen, seventeen-year-old openly gay activist from the local campus that is there for ill-motives: there as a plaintiff, there as a person to either have interest in the other boys or to promote their agenda. That is going to be the problem, not the boys—we have those boys already, scoutmasters take them in and we deal with them, we talk with them, we work with them. It’s the activists that we’re concerned with and that’s why we think sex and politics have absolutely no place in scouting, it will utterly destroy the program.

I think this has less to do with "what they're thinking" and more to do with what Stemberger is thinking.

Stemberger continues with his strange obsession with male on male teenage sex.

I think the national organization is just kind of winking and nodding, saying, ‘oh yeah, homosexual boys, no big deal, we can influence them for the better, boys are better off in scouting.’ Well wait a second, yeah homosexual boys are better off but what about the other boys who may be preyed upon? You know BSA’s own statistics show, their own youth training program shows that seventy percent of all abuse in scouting takes place by other boys, not by adults. So I’ve been saying from day one that this is going to create a wave of boy-on-boy sexual abuse which is going to contribute future to the scandal that scouting has had in the past and also not to mention the physical, psychological and sexual abuse of countless boys.

Stemberger doesn't believe the word gay should be used in public discourse. It would harm the children. Does Stemberger want gay people to be refered to as very happy guys and gals.

" "You look at anything that has the world 'gay' on it in our culture," Stemberger said, "a gay magazine, a gay blog, a gay website, a gay parade, you name it, it's gonna be guaranteed to be inappropriate for kids. And that's what we're talking about; we talking about injecting hyper-sexuality and a leftist political agenda right into the veins of the Boy Scouts and it will utterly devastate it":

Stemberger also has scorn for women. Stemberger attacked Pam Bondi when she was running for Attorney General. Stemberger's reason was Bondi had no children and was living with a man.

Stemberger is homophobic and sexist. That doesn't stop Sen. Marco Rubio from speaking at Stemberger's Florida Family Policy Council dinner. If you want to know Rubio's position on gay rights issues then just look at the company he keeps.

Wingnut Alert: John Stemberger

John Stemberger is an ambulance chasing lawyer who spends his free legal hours crusading against gay marriage and women's reproductive rights. Stemberger does not feel Pam Bondi is qualified to be Attorney General because she has had no children and lives with her older boyfriend out-of-wedlock. This is the most sexist and unserious reasons to say a person isn't qualified to be an Attorney General.

I am not a Bondi supporter but this is assinine. I woman shouldn't have to make babies in order to hold the position of Attorney General. Being unwed has absolutely nothing to do with one's legal qualifications. Stemberger is mad Bondi didn't court him like other Republican candidates stupidly do. Stemberger response is to lash out and display misogynic tendencies.

As the campaign has progressed, Bondi has clearly emerged as the RINO moderate in the AG’s primary election. Bondi is technically a registered Republican, but has been a Democrat most of her life switching parties in 2000. She did not even bother to vote in the elections of 1984, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1992, 2002 & 2008. This shows her commitment to citizenship. Personally, she has no children and lives with her 60 year old eye doctor boyfriend. She refuses to take a position on the gay adoption ban. Like Rudy Guiliani and Charlie Crist she will claim to be tough on crime (Remember Chain Gang Charlie?) BUT will end up liberal on moral and social issues. The Attorney General is a prime statewide office to run for Governor or U.S. Senate someday. And we do not need another liberal, Charlie Crist Republican In Name Only (RINO) in this or any other office in Florida.

Compassionate Conservatism: Gay Marriage Equals Books

John Stemberger is using the slippery slope argument to scare voters into voting yes for amendment 2. If you don't vote to make gay marriage, in florida, illegal than kids will be forced to read books promoting the gay lifestyle.


A Massachusetts couple, Robb and Robin Wirthlin, appeared with Stemberger and others at a press conference this morning promoting Amendment 2.

The Wirthlins said they were dismayed to learn that their son's second-grade teacher read from a book, King and King, in which a prince falls in love with and marries another prince after rejecting a series of princesses.


Passage of amendment 2 wouldn't prevent children from reading certain material. That is an education issue. Robb and Robin Wirthlin have come forward against Prop 8. The Wirthlins lost their court case against the school. What is little known is the "Wirthlins were members of a political organization pressing for an amendment to the Massachusetts Constitution that would ban same-sex marriage before the teacher read the book King and King to their son."

Why the Withlins lost the lawsuit.


In the suit, the Wirthlins said the school was attempting to indoctrinate their children about an "immoral lifestyle." The suit complained that school officials bypassed their parental rights to raise their children how they wish, and in doing so, violated their civil rights.

The Wirthlins lost their legal battle - the U.S. Supreme Court just declined to hear the case, letting the lower court ruling stand - but they are far from losing the war. They are part of the out-of-state effort by the Mormon Church, whose members have contributed millions of dollars to the Yes on 8 war chest, to pass Prop 8


The Wirthlins think gays and lesbians are immoral. Watch the video and see how the they bend over backwards to appear tolerate.



The school did not have to inform the Wirthlins. The couple did not challenge that in their suit. Contrary to their claims in the video. Robin Withlin proclaims she would rather keep her child ignorant than inform him about homosexuality. Keeping a child uneducated is not good parenting.

Conservatives that believe the King and King should be banned in schools do not support free speech. Reading black lists and book burning has been assiociated with the most dangerous fringes of society. Religious conservatives making laws to control consenting adults' sexuality is pure totalarism. Once people lose the choice of whom to sleep with or what to read, bye, bye freedom.

John Stemberger Against Evolution

John Stemberger takes time out of opposing gay marriage to oppose evolution.


The Florida Family Policy Council, a religious conservative group headed by John Stemberger, says it will oppose new Florida public school science curriculum standards that it says advocate teaching evolution “as fact.”


The organization held a news conference including pastors, a public school parent and others in Orlando today.


Stemberger said evolution should be taught as “a theory with ... strengths and weakneses,” not as established scientific fact.


The Florida Family Policy Council is so insecure about their own religious beliefs that they fear that evolution will disprove Genesis. The members of the FFPC dispute evolution, but firmly believe that the first woman was created from the rib of Adam. It's scientific fact because it is in a book written by superstitious people. Stemberger is entitled to his views. That doesn't change the Bible not being science.

The FFPC is essentially Stemberger. The web site domain registry is owned by him. The actual numbers of Republican Christian activists are very fews. They are able to start one and woman organizations and generate media publicity. Public officials are scared of small Christian organizations that have few followers because they call themselves Jesus lovers.

Stemberger can make a difference by feeding the homeless or helping women victimized by domestic violence. He chooses to be a cultural warrior. It's more publicity and he can intimidate government into making people live by his narrow set of ideals.

Quote of the Day

John Stemberger, on why is was behind a drive to not allow gays and lesbians to marry.

Stemberger's statement is utter dishonest on so many levels. Judges haven't "shut down" hetrosexual couples from the right to marry. Stemberger ambulance-chasing attorney that moonlights for the Florida Family Policy (which has ties to James Dobson.) This isn't about protecting marriage. This is the Christian Right imposing their intolance on others.

In other news: Crist attempts to distance himself from Florida4Marriage.


"I'm just a live and let live kind of guy," the governor said.


That is why the NonDecider is listed as an endorser on Florida4Marriage's web site. Crist was against gay marriage before it became "not an issue that moves me." Charlie, you can't pander to all of the people all of the time.

In Defense of All Marriage

Personal injury lawyer John Stemberger is representing the Florida Family Policy Council. The group is affiliated with James Dobson's Focus For the Family - a man whom has dedicated his to protecting America from SpongeBob SquarePants.



The Florida Family Policy Council nearly has enough petitions to get a ballot amendment to make gay marriage illegal under the Florida Constitution. The law already states that gays and lesbians can not marry or have civil unions. That isn't enough for the FFPC. The group is upset about the Iowa Supreme Court decision to allow civil unions.


"Iowa is Exhibit A for why the marriage amendment needs to be codified in the constitution," said Stemberger, president of the conservative Florida Family Policy Council. "Massachusetts (the only state that allows same-sex marriages) is exhibit B."


An obstacle the group faces is all ballot amendments must pass by 60 percent. The law is undemocratic, but helps Fairness For All Families defeat the ballot. 60 percent is difficult to reach. Conservative groups have been disorganized. They failed to get enough signatures in 2006.
