Wingnut of the Day: Kathy Perkins

Moms With Guns Demand Action founder Kathy Perkins thought it was a good idea to joke about assassinating President Barack Obama on Facebook. Why? Because Perkins believes in liberty and she is a patriot. I wonder if Perkins considers Lee Harvey Oswald and John Wilkes Booth patriots. Oswald defected to Russia and declared himself a communist. Booth wrote that President Lincoln was "making himself a king" by attempting to end slavery. Because Booth thought slavery was so awesome. What is interesting is so-called patriots like Perkins accuse Obama of acting like a king.

Tea Party Nation kicked out the big caps keys with a post titled "“IMPEACH AND ARREST THE TYRANT KING OBAMA!!" Apparently, one exclamation point wasn't enough.

The tea party seems to appreciate Russian President Vladimir Putin's leadership more than Obama's. TeaParty.Org ran a story on failed presidential candidate Rudolph Giuliani saying Putim is a stronger leader than Obama.

Russian President Vladimir “Putin decides what he wants to do, and he does it in half a day,” the former GOP presidential candidate said Monday on Fox News Channel’s ”Your World with Neil Cavuto.”

Putin, Giuliani said, makes a decision and executes it quickly.

“Then everybody reacts. That’s what you call a leader. President Obama, he’s got to think about it. He’s got to go over it again. He’s got to talk to more people about it,” Giuliani said.

Putin's style of leadership is jailing the punk band Pussy Riot for protesting Russian government policies. Putin has also bashed the LGBT community for political gain. Putin's policies towards gays are the tea party's wet dream. Judson Phillips, of the Tea Party Nation, was upset that Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer vetoed a bill that would allow businesses to not serve gays. The legislation was a Jim Crow styled law against the LGBT community. Phillips was outraged that gays would not be legally discriminated against in Arizona.

The left and the homosexual lobby in America went into overdrive to kill this bill. Conservatives rallied for this bill and Governor Brewer opted for cowardice instead of courage.

Why is this bill so important and what did it mean for not only Arizona but America? The issue can be boiled down to one word: Freedom.

A free man or woman controls their labor. A slave has no control over their labor. A free man or woman decides who they will work for and under what conditions. The slave cannot.

The left and the homosexual lobby are both pushing slavery using the Orwellian concepts of “tolerance” and “inclusiveness.”

Immediately the left and the homosexual lobby went into high dudgeon. Arizona’s SB1062 must be defeated because Americans really are no longer free and must be forced to serve the great liberal state, regardless of their beliefs.

The storm rose against Arizona and Jan Brewer proved she was no Ronald Reagan. She has an honored place in the ranks of the French Republicans.

Kathy Perkins jokes about killing a black president. Judson Phillips has repeatedly hinted that President Obama is not an American citizen. People who have such open disdain for a black president shouldn't talk about how Obama is behaving like a King and enslaving people.

Political assassins like Booth and Oswald were not patriots. They had such disdain for government that they murdered presidents. Cliven Bundy has gotten into an armed standoff with the federal government. The tea party views him as a patriot. The tea party loves America so much that they want to see Bundy's followers spill the blood of people that are employed by the American government. That makes no logical sense.

Perkins, Bundy and Phillips aren't patriots. They are just very pissed off people.

Florida Republicans Plan to Cut Medicaid

The Florida government is running a $3 billion budget deficit going into the new legislative session. The Florida constitution demands that the budget be balanced. Which is why Florida House Speaker Dean Cannon called tax cuts a "top priority."

We also asked Cannon about how the Legislature can afford to approve tax cuts or incentives for businesses this year after news this week that the state's budget shortfall is $3 billion or more.

"It is something that is literally the top priority," Cannon said. "Finding out where to make those cuts and how to make those policy changes to support them is the biggest item, I think, in the windscreen of the Legislature right now."

Incoming Florida Gov. Rick Scott has made the campaign promise of a 19 percent property tax cut. Property taxes have become regressive in Florida. Reform is needed. It is hard to see how Scott can pull off that big of a tax cut when the budget shortfall. It weren't work, but I have no doubt Scott and the Republicans in the Florida legislature will push for tax cuts. Damn the consequences.

Cannon and other Florida Republicans are planning to pay for the tax cuts by cutting Medicaid. There is nothing Democrats in the Florida legislature can do about it. Sen. Joe Negron is planning $2 billion in Medicaid cuts.

Sen. Joe Negron, R-Stuart, who chairs the Senate health budget committee, said he expects to have to trim $1 billion to $2 billion in healthcare costs. He said he is targeting ``soft'' services, such as payments to consultants who don't provide direct care to patients.

Administrative costs do eat up a portion of health care funding. I doubt Negron is going to find $2 billion in savings. Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer cut Medicaid costs by refusing to cover transplant surgery. Brewer has refused to call a special session to address the issue. Brewer's policy has placed the lives of people needing transplants at risk. Brewer dismissed the complaints of patients to Think Progress.

Brewer is incorrect about only bone marrow patients not being able to get transplants. Randy Shepherd is in need of a heart transplant. Tiffany Tate fears that if she doesn't get a transplant she will die.

This is the kind of Medicaid we are going to get in Florida if Republicans have their way. J.D. Alexander makes the debunked argument of trickle down economics.

``It's too early to speak to that, one way or the other,'' said Senate Budget Chairman JD Alexander, R-Lake Wales. ``Clearly, putting more money in people's pockets helps them to grow business and feed their families. But, that said, we are facing a fairly challenging economic situation.''

Florida has a tax system that provides tax cuts for stadium luxury suites and yachts. Yet Floridians will see Medicaid cut by Republicans that have long made their contempt for government health care well known. People should be very worried. I'm sorry, but Rick Scott and Dean Cannon are the last two people I want to be making decisions on health care.

New Attack Ad on Jan Brewer's Beheading Nonsense

The Terry Goddard campaign released this attack ad on Jan Brewer. The ad catches Brewer making false claims of illegal immigrants beheading bodies. The ad then shows Brewer claiming she never made such a statement. Very effective.

Brewer Will Not Debate Again

Conservatives and tea partiers say they don't want to talk to the media because it is too liberal. It actually is because conservative candidates have to explain their previous statements and policy stances. The latest case in point is Gov. Jan Brewer.

Brewer said there was a series of beheadings committed be illegal immigrants coming over the border. The problem with Brewer's statement was that no Arizona law enforcement officer or medical examiner could confirm Brewer's claim. Brewer's general election opponent Terry Goddard asked Brewer to recant to claim. Brewer dodged the question. Brewer also claimed that the state budget was balanced when Arizona is facing a revenue shortfall.

After the debate, Brewer repeatedly avoided answering questions about her claims that headless bodies were found. Brewer abruptly walked out of her own press conference. Brewer has announced she will not paticipate in another debate.

"Why would I want to give Terry a chance to redefine himself?" she said.

How about Brewer giving Arizona voters the chance to judge which candidate will be the better governor.

Politicians such as Brewer and Sarah Palin are circumventing the media so they can make questionable claims that can go unchallenged. The Fourth estate exists to give Americans information about government. The media was more worried about appearing patriotic and gaining White House access than asking hard questions about pre-Iraq war intelligence. 4,287 U.S. military personal have died in Iraq. It is unlikely these men and women would have died if the American public knew there were no weapons of mass destruction and the war was not going to be several years.

Brewer wants to be governor. The Arizona taxpayers are providing her salery. It isn't asking much to expect her to actually answer questions. People whom usually avoid explaining previous statements know they have been busted in a lie. Arizona citizens deserve a governor that is willing to have an open dialogue with constituents. Not a governor with Nixonian behavior traits.

Jan Brewer's Debate Meltdown

Arizona county coroners told the Arizona Guardian they cannot back up Gov. Jan Brewer's claims that there have been a rash of beheaded bodies. Brewer claimed illegal immigrants have come over the border and beheading Arizona citizens. Brewer spokesman Paul Senseman could not say where Brewer got her information on beheadings. The whole beheading story seems to be something Brewer made up to justify signing the ID bill.

In a debate, Democratic opponent Terry Goddard asked her to recant her statement that beheadings took place. Brewer side-stepped the question. After the debate, the media asked Brewer why she didn't recant her statement on the beheadings. She was also asked if she believed that the beheadings occurred. Brewer refused to answer both questions and abruptly walked out of the debate. Brewer had a Sharron Angle-style meltdown.

Almost as bad is Brewer's opening statement from the debate. I truly thin she was ad-libbing and had no idea what to say.

Arizona has a $700 million deficit going into the next budget session. Brewer is being disingenuous by proclaiming the budget balanced. Each new legislative session presents new budget challenge. If Arizona had a surplus then Brewer would have a right to brag.

Update: Brewer will not debate again.
