Gasparilla FUBAR Update
The Gasparilla rape victim is concerned about her physical health.
The woman thanked those who have helped her, including employees at the Hillsborough County jail, but said she remains concerned about her health. The crisis center that examined her has not released her medical records, which she said are necessary to determine if she needs further medical treatment.
''Unfortunately, I am still very much concerned with my physical condition and have been unable to obtain the results of medical testing done at the crisis clinic,'' she said.
Someone tell the New York Times reporter or a Gainsville Sun staffer it's a dumb idea to report who the victim's mother works for. Often local media adds information in wire service stories. There is no telling who put that information in the article. It should have been edited out.
Another issue that people seem to be ignorant about is Plan B is not an abortion pill. It prevents conception. Just like regular birth control pills. Only stronger. It would have been nice for the media to report that fact. That could educate people. Isn't the news suppose to inform?
Update: I received a complaint about Plan B's use. For people's information. Plan B does prevent fertilisation. After fertilisation the chnaces are less likely to stop the pregnancy. Plan B can prevent the implantation of the embryo. The sooner Plan B is taken the higher the chances are of preventing a pregnancy. Plan B is not an abortion.
2 Comments:
plan B doesn't "prevent conception." It prevents implantation of a fertilized embryo in the uterine lining after conception has taken place. Some people consider that a termination of pregnancy (abortion); some people don't. Failure to implant can happen naturally, and usually the woman doesn't even know she was pregnant since the embryo and lining both pass like her normal courses.
Best not to snark about "education" when you're ignorant yourself.
Heather, Plan B can prevent ovulation. That certainly would be before fertilization.
