Feinstein Takes Action On Fair Voting
I'm glad to see Dianne Feinstein is taking action on the District 13 mess.
U.S. Senate Rules Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein called for a congressional investigation Wednesday into voting machines used in the disputed race to fill Florida's 13th Congressional District last year.
The Government Accountability Office, the investigative arm of Congress, will be joined by the National Institute of Standards and Technology in examining the touch-screen machines at the heart of the dispute.
Feinstein want a "top to bottom investigation". She is also working on a bill to set national standards for machines. Feinstein wants all machines to have a paper trail.
"I believe the time has come for Congress to help ensure that we have such a record in all federal elections," Feinstein said at a hearing Wednesday on the security of electronic voting.
I love to see that bill hit Bush's desk. Considering his poll numbers and the 2000 election; arguing against acoountability and a paper trail would put him in an unenviable position.
