Condi's Facts Are Fiction

Bill Clinton's Fox News interview and Bob Woodward's new book "State of Denial" have put Condoleezza Rice under a harsh spotlight. Rice plays the blame game and makes blatantly false statements. Case in point, is her testimony to the 9/11 Commission. Common Dreams has made a long list of Rice's misleading statements to the 9/11 Commission.

The most glaring statement.

CLAIM: There was "nothing about the threat of attack in the U.S." in the Presidential Daily Briefing the President received on August 6th. [responding to Ben Veniste]

FACT: Rice herself confirmed that "the title [of the PDB] was, 'Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States.'" [Source: Condoleezza Rice, 4/8/04]

From the actual CIA PDB memo.

Nevertheless, FBI information since that time indicates patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings or other type of attacks, including recent surveillance of federal buildings in New York.

Rice is either lying or has no reading comprehension skills.
