The State of the Democratic Party

Taz made this comment in the threads of his Netroots post.

I still don't see much of a difference. Now, I'll grant that a Democratic presidential administration wouldn't have as stupid as the Bush administration, but it also doesn't help that the Democrats we do have in power vote for many of the initiatives that the Bush administration wants. Patriot act, bankruptcy bill, the Iraq War, tax cuts, Bush's judicial nominations... Where are the Democrats who take a stand for real progress? Where's voting reform? How come only two Democrats (Feingold and Harken, I believe) stand behind the resolution to censure Bush?

Petebest made this comment in Monkeyfilter thread about Feingold's censure move.

I think they're on to fourth and fifth-guessing the voters by now. I'm pretty damned well sick of it, and before I go trolling on their message boards I just wanted to vent a little. Y'know, a little jumping up and down, screaming "WAKE UP" and perhaps kicking inanimate objects or something. I'd desert them, but the Silly Party hasn't really got much clout in my area.

We ask what it takes for the average American voter to figure out the corrupt, greedy, lying nature of this administration - what does it take the fucking opposing party to start doing something? Bush is not that good and TurdBlossom can't prop him up much longer. Attack, you impotent clowns, for fuck's sake!

Disclosure: I'm helping the Florida Democratic Party get the word out about candidates. My goal is to win. I see the censure move as a win/win situation.. Make Republicans in both Houses defend a President with low approval ratings. The GOP is distancing themselves from Bush and Iraq. Why let them off the hook.

The DNC is backing candidates who have a better chance of winning. I say it's about time. The RNC has been using this strategy effectively for years. It's about time to do the same.

Fes at Monkeyfilter is a moderate conservative. He makes a point I wholeheartly agree with.

Lastly, be realistic in 2008. Hillary Clinton is your front runner?? She may be smart, effective, whatever, but she is far more divisive than her husband could ever hope to be. Ditch her as a candidate. Promise her whatever you have to, but get her to back the hell out. Same goes for Kerry and Gore - the ancient baggage and bad decisions that cost them elections before are still there. And remember that anytime to choose a legislator as a presidential candidate, you hand the opposition a giant bag full of ammo called a "voting record."

No Democrat who went to the right before the primaris as a chance. Harry Truman said, "When voters are given a choice between voting for a Republican, or a Democrat who acts like a Republican, they'll vote for the Republican." Hillary has baggage and none of her husband's speaking skills or political savvy. The woman's two most noteworthy moments is being in denial about her husband's adultry and failing miserably at healthcare reform.

Bah! *I* made the No Hillary Clinton For President point at MoFi many posts before Fes (put very succinctly, "people hate her"). The thing is, MY post had more profanity. ;)
