Sheriff Joe Arpaio represents everything that is wrong with law enforcement. Arpaio's latest bad idea is having an all volunteer posse patrol the outside perimeters of public schools. The details are scarce. That is probably because Sheriff Joe put no thought behind the policy.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio tells KTVK-TV he has the authority to mobilize private citizens to fight crime but hasn't talked to specific districts.
He says he doesn't plan to put posse members inside schools but will have them posted around the perimeters.
It is like Sheriff Joe takes his law enforcement cues from the right-wing blogosphere.
Tea Party Nation Declares Sucession Movement Is About Love & Realism
A member of the Tea Party Nation, with the awful online handle CAP BLACK THE HOOD CONSERVATIVE informs us that the secession movement is based on love and realism.
Far from a hate fest, Secession 2.0 is about love: love of country; love of traditional values; love of an evolving universal identity called American that anyone of any color; class or creed can become.
This identity has been enriched by pilgrims; slaves; confederates; abolitionists and other contributors to the culture. Their common theme was liberty, addressed from diverse perspectives.
Is Secession 2.0 based in racism or realism?
It's based in realism- the reality that government must listen to Americans who didn't vote to trade freedom for oppression in this last presidential election.
If the secessionists really loved America so much they wouldn't want to leave after a Democrat wins the White House.
If the online secessionist movement wasn't racist they wouldn't act so negatively to a black President winning a second term.
There is this passage from the post that I found amusing.
Conservatism is a multi-ethnic community. Lately, Its major public figure is arguably embattled Congressman Allen West, who is Black last time I checked.
I helped cover the Republican National Convention for The Contributor. Vlogger Freedom and I literally only found one black Republican around Channelside drive. We had a better chance of running into Code Pink than a delegate who was a minority. The RNC featured Joe Arpaio as an honored guest. Arpaio has made a career of violating the civil rights of Hispanics. We interviewed Arpaio and he bragged about his civil rights violations. The interview was a disaster. and you can he me very poorly asking Arpaio about the Justice Department investigation into his office.
Romney is wondering why he lost Hispanics. Letting Sheriff Joe Arpaio attend the convention is a good reason why Romney kissed the Hispanic vote goodbye. So I don't buy the argument that the conservative movement is inclusive. Tea Party Nation has backed Arpaio claims that President Obama's birth certificate is a fraud. Racism and being poor sports about losing the election is at the heart of the tea party and sucession nonsense.
I worked for The Contributor today. We ran into Sheriff Joe Arpaio at the Republican National Convention. Sheriff Joe let us know that he the sheriff of Arizona. Freedom asked most of the questions. I asked the Sheriff of Arizona about the Justice Department complaint filed against him.
I don't know why, but I'm getting fundraising emails from Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
Left wing activists from across the country are organizing against Sheriff Joe because he conducted his own independent investigation into Obama’s “birth certificate” and found it to likely be a fraud.
Arpaio hasn't given the findings of his investigation to the Justice Department. That might have something to do with his investigation being bogus. President Obama has released the long-firm version of his birth certificate. The federal courts has ruled that Obama is eligible to serve as president. The state of Hawaii has declared the birth certificate to be authentic. All you need to know about Arpaio's motivations is referring to the president in racist code as "Barack Hussein Obama." Obama has a funny name. Therefore he must not be a U.S. citizen.
What Arpaio would like people not to know is the findings of a federal grand jury investigation of his police department.
The inquiry’s findings paint a picture of a department staffed by poorly trained deputies who target Latino drivers on the roadways and detain innocent Latinos in the community in their searches for illegal immigrants. The mistreatment, the government said, extends to the jails the department oversees, where Latino inmates who do not speak English are mistreated.
“The absence of clear policies and procedures to ensure effective and constitutional policing,” the report said, “along with the deviations from widely accepted policing and correctional practices, and the failure to implement meaningful oversight and accountability structures, have contributed to a chronic culture of disregard for basic legal and constitutional obligations.”
Arpaio arrested many people on complaints on dark-skinned people living nearby. These people weren't accused of actual crimes before Arpaio had them arrested. The Justice Department found that Arpaio had arrested many innocent people of Hispanic dessent. Considering Arpaio's previous investigative skills, his statements on Obama's birth certificate should not be taken seriously.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio is a sad excuse for a law enforcement officer. Arpaio went on Univision to talk about his bogus investigation into President Barack Obama's birth certificate. Arpaio sad he is investigation Obama's birth certificate because members of the tea party asked him to. That is a rather silly excuse. Just because someone comes to the sheriff with a conspiracy theory doesn't mean he should investigate it. However, if you are a racist and love being in front of the camera, like Arpaio, then that is another story.
Arpaio tells Univision host Jorge Ramos that the good sheriff is popular with the Hispanic community. Ramos challenges Arpaio on this claim. Ramos informs the sheriff that several poll show that the Hispanic community does not love Arpaio. Hilarity ensues.
