Anti World Cup Rant By Russian Priest

Russian Priest Alexander Shumsky believes the World Cup promotes homosexuality. I believe the World Cup promotes watching a boring sport but opinions differ. The Moscow Times has some gems from Shumsky's blog post.

"Wearing pink or blue shoes, [the players] might as well wear women's panties or a bra," Shumsky wrote, adding that he was also offended by the "unthinkable" hairstyles of some of the players in Brazil.

For a straight guy Shumsky is really obsessed with clothes.

Shumsky channels Ann Coulter and claims that the World Cup is a conspiracy to spread liberalism.

"The liberal ideology of globalism clearly wants to oppose Christianity with football. I'm sure of it. Therefore I am glad that the Russian players have failed and, by the grace of God, no longer participate in this homosexual abomination," the priest wrote in his online column.

I take it this Jesus figurine would not be a good gift for Shumsky.

Quote of the Day

"I highly approve of Romney's decision to be kind and gentle to the retard."

Ann Coulter, on Twitter, after the third presidential debate.

Ann Coulter is the Paris Hilton of political punditry. Like Hilton, Coulter will do anything for attention. Coulter is also proof that it is nearly impossible to get kicked out of conservative media. Fox News welcomes Coulter, Dick Morris and Oliver North on their programs. Sex scandals and federal indictments don't bother Fox News if the person in question is willing to bash Obama. Ann Coulter passes that requirement with flying colors.

Quote of the Day

"Our blacks are so much better than their blacks."

Ann Coulter, in her defense of Herman Cain.

Coulter goes on to call President Obama "half-black." Coulter and Hannity have no idea on racist they sound.

The Herman Cain sex scandal isn't about the Left v. Cain. The truth more likely is one of Cain's Republican primary opponents leaked this to Politico. Team Obama has been busy attacking Mitt Romney. The Obama people rightfully do not believe that Romney will be the nominee.

Ann Coulter Defends Andrew Breitbart

Ann Coulter says Andrew Breitbart was "set up." What happened to conservatives preaching personal responsibility. Oh, that's right. That was just bullshit.

"The whole key to this story is that Andrew Breitbart was set up. He was sent a tape that, as we now know, was massively out of context. It did look like this woman was saying something racist. When she first said it was taken out of context . . . we've heard that before from politicians telling racist jokes. This is the first time in world history it was literally taken out of context.

"It was a lovely speech. Of course the White House reacted that way -- of course you reacted the way you did. Anyone would have. I think Breitbart ought to reveal his source, because he was set up. This was a fraud. The person who sent the edited tape has to know what the full speech said, and whomever sent only that segment to Andrew Breitbart is the one who should apologize to Shirley Sherrod.

It has been awhile since I have blogged about Ann Coulter. Michele Malkin has taken Coulter's mantle.

Coulter has been accused of plagiarism. She hardly can be accused of being an expert in journalism ethics. Journalism 101 teaches students to fact-check. Breitbart is responsible for checking the videotape. Having Ann Coulter speak on behave of Breitbart isn't going to help his credibility.

Hate Vandalism Directed at Obama

The Secret Service is investigating who wrote "I," the swastika and Obama onto the grass of a golf course in Lakeville, Mass. Course owner wants whoever is responsible found.

"It's just so insulting to the human race and it just shouldn't be part of our doings by anybody. I just can't understand it. It's unforgivable," course owner Gary Mosca told WBZ.

The web site the Right Perspective serves up serious bullshit by implying the culprit may have actually placed as the Hindu and Buhdist symbol for good luck. I say good luck having people believe that utter nonsense. It amazes me the Right feels the need to defend this kind of hatemongering. Ann Coulter even gave the hysterical suggestion that the Left was bringing Obama/Nazi signs to tea parties.

Hat tip to Gottalaff.

O'Reilly Brings Coulter To Discuss George Tiller

Bill O'Reilly brings Ann Coulter to talk about the Left's reaction to O'Reilly's years of hatemongering reporting on abortion-provider George Tiller.

Money quote from Coulter:

"I don't really like to think of it as a murder. It was terminating Tiller in the 203rd trimester."

O'Reilly must really need a shoulder to cry on if he is bringing Coulter on to attempt to make himself look morally just. Tiller will be the defininbg moment of O'Reilly's career. He can bring on try to reframe his reporting all he wants. The fact is as mere journalism his reporting was shit. Tiller's death brought his years of demonizing Tiller to the mainstream and the GOP and elite conservative pundits aren't coming to O'Reilly's rescue.

Conservative Establishment Against McCain

What we are seeing is the Republican Party being pulled from the fringes. GOP voters aren't as conservative as the pundits and evangelical kingmakers.

James Dobson said he will not vote for John McCain in the general election. Dobson will rather destroy the base and help Republicans lose the White House. His fanatical ideology of pushing the culture wars trumps all other interests. Dobson has stood by the Bush administration's use of torture and anti-environment policies. Mainstream evangelicals are on the forefront of fighting poverty, war and global warming. Dobson uses his radio pulpit to preach the fire and brimestone of intolerance.

Rush Linbaugh views McCain as no different than Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton.

“‘If I believe the country will suffer with either Hillary, Obama or McCain, I would just as soon the Democrats take the hit . . . rather than a Republican causing the debacle,’ he said. ‘And I would prefer not to have conservative Republicans in the Congress paralyzed by having to support, out of party loyalty, a Republican president who is not conservative.’”

Limbaugh has endorsed Mitt Romney. That should help the Governor get that much sought after angry white man who spends too much time listening to the radio vote.

The most bizarre is Ann Coulter says she will vote for Hillary over McCain. Coulter likes Hillary's hawkishness on the Iraq war. Coulter finally notices want many progressives fear about Hillary.

The Right gears up to kick some Straight Talk ass

[Crossposted from Sugar Land is Dreaming]

All the GOP frontrunners (or onetime frontrunners, in some cases) have weaknesses in the type of voters they can attract, which could spell disaster in the general election. Social conservatives turn their nose at Romney's religion; Huckabee wouldn't be able to attract any non-religious conservatives; Giuliani seemingly can't attract anybody -- even xenophobes! And McCain? He might be the best at courting independents, but the right just plain hates this guy.

It was just over a year ago where McCain was too afraid to show his face at CPAC. The rest of the candidates spoke, but McCain wouldn't dare step foot inside the conference because he knew the backlash against him would generate too much bad press. Here was a Republican who couldn't even communicate with members of his own party at their largest gathering -- how the hell did he think he could win the GOP nomination for president?

Over the past 12 months, McCain has gone from frontrunner to shitheel back to frontrunner again, riding some momentum from his victories in New Hampshire and South Carolina. But a key fact to remember is that both of those states, independents play a huge role in the primaries. And since McCain is great at courting independents, he was able to score a couple victories.

And they have noticed. GOPUSA (the folks who brought you Jeff Gannon) has a daily email newsletter that reaches around 500,000, called "GOPUSA Eagle." Today's Eagle had this for it's subject line: "John McCain: The Geraldo Rivera Republican." This is a reference to the screaming match that Geraldo had with Bill O'Reilly when they discussed immigration. For the right at large, Geraldo's views on immigration are just too... too... spic-y.

Opening the email, I find it's main story is a Michelle Malkin column deriding McCain's stance on immigration:
Not all of us have forgotten how the short-fused Arizona senator cursed good-faith opponents in his own party ("F**k you!" and "Chickensh*t" were the choice words he had for Texas GOP Sen. John Cornyn during a spat over enforcement provisions). Not all of us have forgotten that he voted against barring felons from receiving amnesty benefits under his plan. Not all of us have forgotten the underhanded, debate-sabotaging manner in which McCain/Kennedy/Lindsey Graham/Harry Reid conspired to ram their package down voters' throats.

His admission of the shamnesty failure is grudging and bitter. While he now tells conservative voters what they want to hear about the need to build the southern border fence, he takes a contemptuous tone toward physical barriers when talking to businessmen. "By the way, I think the fence is least effective," he told executives in Milwaukee, according to a recent Vanity Fair profile. "But I'll build the goddamned fence if they want it." Straight talk? Try hate talk.
And if anyone knows hate talk, it's a woman who writes a book defending Japanese internment camps. And while we're on the topic of "hate talk," let's bring Ann Coulter into the picture. She sent me an email today too. It links to her latest column in Human Events, a weekly newspaper that's hugely popular among conservatives. From her anti-McCain diatribe titled "'Straight Talk' Express Takes Scenic Route to Truth":
John McCain is Bob Dole minus the charm, conservatism and youth. Like McCain, pollsters assured us that Dole was the most "electable" Republican. Unlike McCain, Dole didn't lie all the time while claiming to engage in Straight Talk.

Of course, I might lie constantly too, if I were seeking the Republican presidential nomination after enthusiastically promoting amnesty for illegal aliens, Social Security credit for illegal aliens, criminal trials for terrorists, stem-cell research on human embryos, crackpot global warming legislation and free speech-crushing campaign-finance laws.

I might lie too, if I had opposed the Bush tax cuts, a marriage amendment to the Constitution, waterboarding terrorists and drilling in Alaska.
Hell, with that description, Ann's making me kinda like the guy.

Now that McCain is the popular pick for expected GOP nominee, expect the right to step up their attacks against him in the days to come. Also, you may want to wish for McCain victories in the primaries because if there's any candidate you want the Democrats to run against, it's one who would keep his own party home come November.

Ann Coulter Gets Hate Mail

Palm Beach County resident Ann Coulter received an exception from publicly listed her home address. Coulter received a nasty greeting card.

``You self-aggrandizing -- sociopath!! The only thing left after a nuclear war are you and cockroaches.''

The Miami Herald article points out Coulter's history of saying nasy things about other people. I expect Coulter to practice hypocrisy and not being able to take it as well as she dishes it out. It's not cool to send mean-spirited letters and phone messages to people. Even if that person is Ann Coulter.

The moral of the story is Coulter's vicious attacks on public figures has unleashed a backlash. Which in turn as raised the ire of people whom have nothing better to do than bother Ann Coulter. Haters attract haters. All parties involve could volunteer in their community. But that doesn't feed haters innner-stupid person.

Martin Peretz Channels Ann Coulter

Lindsay Beyerstein points out the latest piece of bile from Martin Peretz. He has the audacity to go after Mariane Pearl: the wife of slain Wall Street Journal foreign correspondent Daniel Pearl.

There's a tacky story on today's "Page Six" in the New York Post about Mariane Pearl -- yes, the widow of Daniel -- and her conflicts with the Wall Street Journal. It's about money and celebrity and Mariane's desires to use the Journal as the instrument of her fame. You see, when Muslim terrorists kill your husband it's only fair to profit off his death. Wasn't that a clause in Daniel's insurance policy?

There was something that bugged me about Peretz's post. The hatefulness is standard issue Peretz. His quote reminded me of something I read somewhere. I then remembered Ann Coulter made a similar attack against the 9-11 widows known as the Jersey Girls.

These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief-arazzies. I have never seen people enjoying their husbands’ death so much.

Peretz and Coulter feel it is their patriotic obligation to spit venom at those that have been personally victimized by terrorism. They are so emotionally insecure that they need to go after women that have questioned America's post-9-11 national security. Years from now, people will read the vicious things Peretz and Coulter wrote and wonder just how fucked up these Bush apologists are.

Lindsay accuses Peretz of being sexist. I'm not going to argue the point. I just think that is the beginning of his problems. Peretz tells everyone within shouting distance he is a diehard Democrat. He ran a publication that's specialty is bashing Democrats and producing Left-wing haters such as Michael Kelly, Andrew Sullivan, and Mickey Kaus. His publication had fact-check problems with Stephen Glass, Ruth Shalit and Scott Thomas Beauchamp that could be spotted by a high school editor.

Peretz has long ties to the American Enterprise Institute, publicly defended the convicted Lewis "Scooter" Libby, accused Jimmy Carter of being an Anti-Semite and a list of misdeeds goes on. Any respectable would of had Peretz removed for his conflict of interests and turning the New Republic into a money-losing laughing stock. Washington operates under a different set of rules. No other major American publication would let a former publisher run blog posts that makes Instapundit seem civil.

Eric Alterman's article of Peretz and the TNR horror show is worthy of reading.

A big thanks to Eric Alterman for linking to this post.

Quote of the Day

"If we took away women's right to vote, we'd never have to worry about another Democrat president. It's kind of a pipe dream, it's a personal fantasy of mine, but I don't think it's going to happen. And it is a good way of making the point that women are voting so stupidly, at least single women."

Ann Coulter

Who says Republicans don't want to disenfranchise voters? Only Republicans that want to actually want to disenfranchise voters.

Update: Amanda Marcotte has a post on Coulter's assinine statement.

It’s interesting that this attitude Coulter displays—that one’s right to vote should be contingent on voting “correctly”, i.e. against your own interests in favor of the wealthy—is exactly the same one that Saddam Hussein demonstrated with his farcical “elections” where he would get 100% of the vote because it was basically illegal to vote any other way. Remember how that was supposedly a bad thing? That was one of the things that war supporters, many of whom are Coulter’s fan base, cited as a reason that Saddam was bad. Another lie, I suppose. But it’s relevant here that what Coulter is suggesting as a goal—one party rule, by a party that operates on the principle of marrying government to corporate interests so that the two become indistinguishable, is basically fascism. All you need, really, is a citizen-on-citizen enforcement strategy. The process of creating that was already underway, but hit a bump in the road.

It interests me that a woman would not want other women to vote. Does Coulter support having her voting rights stripped. I somehow doubt it.

Tas Raw Story Article

Tas (aka Adam Dupont) has a Raw Story article about Ann Coulter.

Money quote:

"Obama is half-white and half-black," Coulter said, before comparing the Illinois senator to former President Bill Clinton. "Clinton was half-white, half-trash."

None of Coulter's controversial comments stops her from coming on cable talk shows. In fact, that is exactly why networks bring her on. It's not because of her wonkish policy knowledge. Coulter appearances are about ratings. She is the punditry equivalent of a shock jock.

George Will Refers to Ann Coulter As Him

I mentioned this at Litbrit's place. Anyone have any idea why George Will referred to Ann Coulter as him? There is a delicious irony that a woman who questions the sexual identity of other's has one of America's most respected conservatives call her a guy.

Tampa Area Reactions To Ann Coulter's Attack on Edwards

Ann Coulter made these remarks about John Edwards at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

“I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so I — so kind of an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards.”

Here is the reaction from the chairmen of the Hillsborough and Pasco county Republicans.

Hillsborough County GOP Chairman David Storck: “If the gal from the Dixie Chicks can call the president names, I guess Coulter has a right to say what she wants.”

I don't see Coulter releasing a Grammy award-winning album in the near future. Natalie Maines was attacking George W. Bush on his Iraq policy. Not his sexuality or appearance.

Pasco County Party Chairman Bill Bunting: “I have a lot of respect for her and I stand behind her. I wish she’d be the speaker at my dinner.”

To get an idea of what kind of person Coulter is; she failed to call Adam Carolla's radio show the week before. Then called an hour an a half late a week later. What Carolla does is vulgar, but hilarious.

Update: Lindsay Beyerstein has a great remark:

Coulter is in urgent need of rehab. If she doesn't get help soon, she'll shave her head and attack the press with umbrellas.

Quote of the Day 2

Ann Coulter just won't go away. She seem to know something that other people (including John Edwards' wife) doesn't.

“I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word ‘faggot,’ so I — so kind of an impasse, can’t really talk about Edwards.”

The video is from the Conservative Political Action Conference. It is amazing how wingnuts talk amongst themselves. These GOP political operatives wouldn't applaud in a mainstream audience. At the CPAC they can be themselves. Which is kinda scary.

Update: The Edwards campaign is using Coulter's remarks to solicit contributions.
