Mitt Romney's Twitter Whale Fail

This is cheesy beyond words. Politic USA has caught the Mitt Romney campaign buying Twitter followers. Romney experienced a massive spike in followers as he was overseas. Romney disasterous visit to England doesn't doesn't explain the spike.

Mitt Romney’s Twitter account gained 23,926 followers yesterday. As of 2 PM ET, Romney has more than tripled that total with 75,912 new followers. In some of these hours, the official Romney account has only had 700 mentions and 15 retweets, yet tens of thousands of, ”new people” are now following him.

This shows a campaign that doesn't understand how social media works. Posting interesting content on Twitter or Facebook is going to attract followers and likes. Having Twitter followers that are not real people means the tweets will not be read. What's the point of that. To make matters worse, this isn't the first time Romney has been busted buying followers. It would probably be cheaper for Romney to hire a conservative that knows how to use social media.
