Kendrick Meek Zombie Watch: Another Bad Ad

Kendrick Meek spent money on another worthless ad. Meek wanted to stress that he is the only registered Democrat in the race. Meek may not know this, but Charlie Crist and Marco Rubio aren't going around making claims to membership in the Democratic Party. If Democrats vote for Crist it is because Meek has left them unconvinced. Likewise, if Democrats vote for Rubio it will be because of frustration with what little the national party has accomplished in Washington. Meek's strategy isn't to cut into Crist's and Rubio's bases. Meek is holding on to his small base of supporters. Not the greatest strategy when running a distant third in every major poll.

The ad itself is hysterically awful: I'm not sure if Meek wants to be in the Senate or spend the rest of his life on various modes of transportation. We see Meek on a boat in the Everglades. We then see Meek on another boat in the ocean. So far I am not sure if this is a political ad or a commercial for Florida tourism.

We then see Meek scanning someone's credit card behind a checking counter. I didn't know Meek had a part-time job at Best Buy.

We later see Meek behind the counter of a fast food restaurant. What is it with Meek's fake part-time jobs?

Another moment in the ad is Meek standing on a lawn as a man mows the grass. Meek talks to the camera but doesn't help the man mow the grass. Apparently, the only fake jobs Meek likes involve air-conditioned environments, retail and fast food. The latter might be where we see Meek after the campaign.

Past Meek ads were compared to Batman Forever and bore an unintentional similarity to a comedy sketch. A better title for the "My Life" ad would have been "White People: Don't Fear Me Because I'm a Black Candidate."

This is the ad that Team Meek thought was suppose to put their candidate over the top? The Meek ad campaign has been a disaster. Meek has less money than Crist and Rubio and the campaign wasted money on this spot. I declared the Meek campaign dead long ago. I am officially declaring Meek a zombie candidate.

Everything in the ad is fast, dynamic, fun. Amazing you find it entirely bad. Have you checked your human button? It may have been turned off.

Larry, I am sure you have covered elections as a journalist. THe "REAL DEM" ads are Meek attempting to hold on to what little base he has. Meek is more worried about Democrats voting for Crist and Rubio than expanding his base. You want good ads. Look at what Alex Sink is doing. Voters still have no idea what Meek stands for.

Meek lists a half-dozen of his positions in that ad. Guess you're not listening. Anyway, there will be other ads with other themes. I like Sink, and the ad I saw today just says she wants to be my governor. Not of the special interests. No further positions announced. Different times for different themes. Remember there are more Dems than Reps in FL. It's a base that should not include Crist voters if the message is clear. And fun.
