Richard W. Cunningham worked as a physician for Columbia/HCA. Cunning is yet another former employee who does not have kind words for Scott.

It came as no surprise to many of us that Columbia/HCA was investigated for Medicare fraud because of aggressive accounting practicing. What was surprising was that (Scott) was not held responsible (except for the fine) when at least two of his administrative personnel went to prison!

Thank goodness that he was ousted as CEO of Columbia/HCA and Dr. Thomas Frist Jr. was renamed CEO and immediately changed the name of the company back to HCA and returned it to the previous great health care company that he, his father, and Jack Massey began!

In related news: Scott and his staff confirmed to the Boca Raton Republican Club that he would appear at a forum with opponent Bill McCollum. Scott even did a walk-through at the Boca Raton Marriott. Team Scott called again 3 hours before the forum to confirm. At the last minute, Team Scott then called and offered Scott's mother in the place of the candidate. Needless to say, this did not go over well with the Boca Raton Republican Club.

Jack Furnari, a vice president of the Boca Raton club and an assistant vice chairman of the Palm Beach County Republican Party, was less charitable than Helschein.
“By not showing up for scheduled events at the last minute, I think he’s demonstrated an appalling lack of respect for the voting public,” Furnari said.

Furnari is exactly right. Scott has repeatedly refused (with few exceptions) press conferences, Q and A sessions with voters, and meetings with editorial boards. Scott is either scared of public scrutiny or feels he is above it. Scott refused to release a video deposition he gave in a Medicare fraud case relating to Solantic. Scott makes Richard Nixon seem like like a model for full disclosure.
