What is Your Favorite Character on Television?
My favorite character is Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on Battlestar Galactica. The character is an alcoholic, foul-mouth, violent and an unfaithful wife. Her shipmates put up with her emotional baggage because her skills as a pilot and soldier are indispensable.
The character would be insufferable if Katee Sackhoff wasn't so appealing in the role. Sackhoff makes it look easy. Watch how annoying Evangeline Lilly playing the troubled Kate on Lost. The difference is Sackhoff is a great actress and Lilly is a horrible actress on a popular show.
There are episodes when Sackhoff's Starbuck comes across as the cool girl every guy wants to date. The episode when she gleefully waterboarded a Cylon prisoner presented a very scary side of the character.
I hate scince fiction. I was surprised that BSG dealt with such hot button issues as torture, abuse of power, chemical warfare, terrorism and religion. The show is a reflection of the Bush era.
Readers, who is your favorite character on TV.

"The Wire" may have finished its run, but I'm still going to go with Omar Little, with Kima Greggs a close second. Both powerful, uncompromising characters played by actors who know what they're doing.
I knew Omar would get a vote.
