I'm happy to see Viggo Mortensen and Ellen Page nominated. The best movie nominees a strong this year. Daniel Day-Lewis and Johnny Depp both up for best actor. Now that's a match up.

I'm grateful Ben Affleck didn't get any nominations for Gone Baby Gone. It's bad enough he has an Oscar for the ABC After School Special known as Good Will Hunting.

Readers, who do you want to see win and who should have been nominated.

I would dearly love to see Viggo Mortensen leave home with the statue. He fully deserves it! All his work is so intense!
It would be a pity if Hollywood kept NOT acknowledging his talent. I'd hate to see him at 85, being handed an Oscar for Lifetime Achievement. That would just be wrong and unfair.
But on the other hand, knowing the politics and preferences of the Academy, he's unlikely to be the winner :(

I'm thinking it's going to be Johnny Depp or Daniel Day-Lewis. Eastern Promises didn't get any other major nominations. That hurts Mortensen's chances.

And his politics. He WAS incredible in that movie.

Now I realize I'm behind on movies.

I think no country for old men and tommy lee for in the valley of elah are strong contenders but, yeah that old politics thing.

GO VIGGO !!

that was sposed to say (and his politics hurt his chances)
The movie was so unusual I wonder why it didn't step up better.
He's involved in world can't wait and impeachment so it will surprise me if he wins but that he got nominated shows his strength.
