Mitt Romney Panders to Homophobia

Every bad cover band plays Sublime's What I Got to get the crowd going. Republican candidates kick out the constitutional ban on gay marriage meme. It's a worn out tune. THat won't stop Mitt Romney from playing it to death.

After a judge on Thursday struck down Iowa's law banning same-sex marriage, Romney quickly condemned the ruling and renewed his call for a federal constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.

It is time to show video of Romney: the former gay rights advocate.

Sanctity of Marriage

It is written:

Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.

Given the heated debate about the gay movement, I want to make it very clear that sin is a universal consequence of our alienation to God. Sexual deviancy is a consequence by which God is withdrawing from our society as indicated within Romans 1:24. The wickedness mentioned within 1 Corinthians 6:8-10 includes ALL forms of sexual immorality such as pornography, fornication, adultery, pedophilia, polygamy, bestiality, and, yes, homosexuality.

So, before one considers attacking the homosexual community, one must also realize that the list mentioned above includes heterosexuals as well. The bottom line is that sexual deviancy in all its forms will not be tolerated by God regardless of what some ‘forward-thinking’ churches are endorsing. The judgment seat of God will hold all accountable for their actions irrespective of the endorsements of the ACLU, liberal judges, and politicians alike. Those defending these lifestyles are the very persons that the Bible gives warning to as being the “Blind leaders of the Blind,” where both will end up in divine judgment[i].

In God’s eyes, there are no alternative lifestyles which are acceptable to Him. There are no alternative marriages other than that between a man and woman. If you have embraced a position that alternative lifestyles are an acceptable norm within our society, then you have unknowingly taken a position against God by compromising his word. Furthermore, you will be held accountable for this position when we all stand before God in judgment.

Isaiah 5:20

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.

We live in an age in which homosexuality, pornography, and other forms of sexual deviancy are now embraced in the name of “Alternative Lifestyles” and tolerance. Furthermore, any moral objections to these lifestyles are jeered by the media and in some political circles as homophobia and non-mainstream bigotry, while heralding sexual promiscuity.

Case in point: What is wrong with this country when a homosexual adulterous affair by the former New Jersey Governor James McGreevy is cheered nationally in political and media circles as a “coming out of the closet” celebration?
God's teachings lead us to this bottom line: sexual deviancy in all its forms cannot be tolerated.

National policy that attempts to redefine sin as a societal norm can be rationalized as unobtrusive, politically correct, tolerant, not affecting you or your family, benign or even beneficial. Yet, the consequence is ultimately another level of wickedness that God defines as an abomination. Committing and condoning these acts of sexual deviancy while endorsing these lifestyles only further alienates God from this nation as He withdraws His hand of protection from our country.

God's teachings lead us to this bottom line: sexual deviancy in all its forms cannot be tolerated. That includes, but is not limited to, homosexual marriage. The only acceptable form of marriage is that between a man and a woman.

Rest assured, we not homophobic – rather, weare sinophobic. Our nation should not be forced to accept sin as a cultural norm. As a man of faith, I believe in loving and caring for those trapped in sin, but refuse to honor sin with pride marches and rainbows under the guise of ‘diversity.’

[i] Matthew 15:14
