Hillary Will Not Campaign In Florida
More bad news for the Florida Democratic Party. Hillary Clinton signed the DNC pledge not to campaign in Florida.
“We believe Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina play a unique and special role in the nominating process,” Patti Solis Doyle, the Clinton campaign manager, said in a statement.
Michigan will also be punished.
I'm not thrilled with the idea of Florida's Democratic primary being meaningless. However, this wasn't unforseen. Dean has warned the FDP of the consequences. They were betting on Dean to bluff. They were wrong and didn't have a contingency plan.
Many Democrats and progressive bloggers are mad at Howard Dean. I understand their reasons. They should take Dean out of the equation, for a moment, and ask themselves are they pleased with the way Karen Thurman and the FDP handled to situation. It can hardly be described as skillful. Unless losing delegates and holding a meaningless primary was their intention. It answers the hypothetical of what would happen if Katherine Harris was running the FDP.
