Bright Eyes at the Paradiso
Update: God this is an awful show. It's an emo symphony with two drummers. Sine.Qua.Non will probably chew me out for not liking it, but it's pretentious as hell.
Update: this is an actual Conor Oberst quote from an interview.
BLENDER: Do you own an iPod?
CONOR OBERST: I do. I just got a new one, because mine just made that frown face. I didn't know what to do.
I think I'm going to get sick.
Labels: bright eyes, conor oberst

LMAO Michael. Frankly, I prefer listening to Conor's songs rather than necessarily watching him, which can be painful sometimes. So, I am going to agree with you in this instance. Sometimes, watching the creative process ....... well, it can be damned uncomfortable, painful and sometimes ugly.
I watch this video and can't believe this dude dated Jenny Lewis.
Well.....hmm. He has some pretty damned good music. And, you have to remember how young he still is. He recorded his first album at 14 years old. Jenny doesn't excite me like it does you guys. For example, I like Chan Marshall but to me, she is a somewhat sloppy version of Norah Jones. I like them both, as you know. Anyway, I never rely on one song to determine whether I care for a particular artist or not. If I did, I wouldn't have 1/8 the music I now own, which is substantial.
The frown comment is a hoot! Do you really think he was being up front about that? I seriously doubt it. He is a goof sometimes.
I could never imagine Liz Phair or Greg Dulli ever making the ipod frown comment. They would probably diss him and make him cry.
I read Dulli and Phair both say they used their record advance money to party. They both went to college and have this fraternity and sorority personality. Which turn a lot of indie fans off to them. Their assholeness is what I thought rock stars should be like. Conor is way too sincere for my taste. He also intellectualizes is lyrics. Phair and Dulli write about their personal experiences. I will say it would be hard for Conor to have done as much drugs or have had the amount of sex those two did.
Chan is so much better a singer and songwriter than Norah Jones. The live shows she did were among the best this year.
