Things Sound So Much Better In German

Tampa Taxi Shots wrote this comment in a post condoning the Pope's recent statement about the Islamic faith.

I really believe the answer to this war is to kill all Muslims on Earth and destroy any written or computer record of this horrible religion.

I thought that statement may not be clear enough. So I translated it back to the original German.

Ich glaube wirklich, daß die Antwort zu diesem Krieg alle Moslems auf Masse töten und jede mögliche geschriebene oder Computeraufzeichnung dieser schrecklichen Religion zerstören soll.

There was this statement made at Salzburg that had the the same tone about another ethnic group.

Für uns ist dieses nicht ein Problem, das Sie ein blindes durch kleine Zugeständnisse gelöst zu werden Auge zu-ein drehen können. Für uns ist es ein Problem von, ob unsere Nation seine Gesundheit überhaupt zurückgewinnen kann, ob der jüdische Geist überhaupt wirklich ausgerottet werden kann. For us, this is not a problem you can turn a blind eye to-one to be solved by small concessions. For us, it is a problem of whether our nation can ever recover its health, whether the Jewish spirit can ever really be eradicated. Don't be misled into thinking you can fight a disease without killing the carrier, without destroying the bacillus. Don't think you can fight racial tuberculosis without taking care to rid the nation of the carrier of that racial tuberculosis. That quote came from Hitler. It was a real hit to the crowd. Playing to the lowest denominator never fails.
