Sheldon Whitehouse 8 Points Up

Lincoln Chafee is behind Sheldon Whitehouse 43% to 51% in the latest Rasmussen poll. There is good news for both candidates. Whitehouse's support with Democrats went up to 80 percent. Chafee's support went up to 74 percent. The bases of both parties are starting to rally behind the nominees.

There are a couple of factors that interests me.

1. Rhode Island has more registered-Democrats.

2. Republicans got a good voter turnout in the primary.

All indications show this will be a tough race. Democrats are going to have to bring the base to the polls. Republicans do it well. The problem is the Democratic Party is often totally incompetent at the county level. They need to be more engaged in canvassing, email lists, the internet and carpooling on election day. In the Tampa area, Janee Murphy and Ed Helm have created more infighting than problem solving. I want to win elections. I don't care about the petty arguments.
