LisaNova Visits IRC Community
Youtube star Lisa Donovan (aka LisaNova) did a Thanksgiving video to spotlight the work of International Rescue Committee. The organization helps displayed refugees forced out of their countries because of violence. The refugees grow their own food on a green community. The work they did to build their own community is inspiring.

Worst Youtube Video:Abortion Man
Damon Wayans is the producer of the internet channel Wayout.Tv. You may remember Wayans from the television show In Living Color. You likely do not remember his box office flops Bulletproof, Maj. Payne, Blankman and Mo' Money. Wayans has managed to both anger feminists and anti-choicers. That is a sure sign of the video's tastelessness.
The video is not funny a politically incorrect way. young black man's girlfriend calls him to inform him that she is pregnant. He whispers, "Get rid of that shit," meaning the fetus, when he hears the news.He calls on Abortion Man to assault his girlfriend and force her to have a miscarriage. This would be sickening as another Youtube amateur video. The fact that a longtime Hollywood veteran, with children, produced this video makes it even more disturbing.

There are real life incidents of young male blacks assaulting pregnant teen girls. These attacks aren't a laughing matter.
A teen sought in an attack on a pregnant teen carrying his child now faces a murder charge.
Kerria Anderson, 18, is in critical condition after being beaten in Over-the-Rhine last week.
She was seven months pregnant, and hospital officials said the fetus was dead when Anderson arrived at the hospital.
JiaTV posted a Youtube response on how the video negative play into stereotypes of black men. The video manages to demean women, black men, and the abortion issue. I'm surprised Wayans didn't work flag lapel pins in the sketch.

Howard Dean Youtube Question
Howard Dean submitted a question for the Republican Youtube debate. It's one I don't expect GOP presidential candidates to give a straight answer to. They are more likely to attack the Democratic National Committe chariman. If the question is used. Deabate moderator prefer such importan policy matters as diamonds or pearls."
“The majority of Americans believe our country is headed in the wrong direction. Yet the republican frontrunners stand firmly behind President Bush’s failures on everything from Iraq to vetoing kids’ health care. So why is a vote for anything of them a vote for change? We’d like to know,” Dean queried

Romney & Giuliani Duck Youtube Debate
Mark Lane has a good round up of the blogosphere's reaction Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney dropping out of the Republican CNN/Youtube presidential debate. I'm only surprised that if didn't happen sooner. GOP politicians are so used to staying on script. The Youtube format destroys all that. If Romney and Giuliani can't handle Youtube then how the hell can they run the country?
The silliest post I read comes from Republican apologist Hugh Hewitt.
The YouTube debate was a silly, and at times absurd exercise in giving air time to many idiots separated by an occasional responsible speaker, and the question selection by CNN demonstrated a huge left-wing bias which will inevitably appear in any subsequent YouTube debate organized by the MSM which is overwhelmingly staffed by the left.
CNN selected questions from Youtube users for a Democratic presidential debate. The questions are skewed for Democrats running for their party's nomination. Did Hewitt expect Youtube users to ask Democrats who loves Ronald Reagan the most?
It has become a habit for conservatives such as Hugh Hewitt to accuse media services he dislikes of liberal bias. Hewitt would never admit that the Weekly Standard's attempts to discredit Scott Thomas Beauchamp was conservative bias. Especially, since Hewitt has written for the WS and did his part to slime Beauchamp.
Hewitt is hardly in a position to criticize the journalism ethics of CNN. What Hewitt really has a problem with is the majority of Youtube users being against the policies of the Bush administration. The fact that they can use technology to voice their opinions scares Republicans who live by staying on message. Listening to the concerns of citizens is an alien concept for the Grand Old Party. It's not liberal bias that scares Hewitt. It's free speech.

Miltitary Censoring Soldiers' Internet Access
Via Sine.Que.Non: The U.S. military is keeping soldiers safe from Youtube and Myspace.
The US Department of Defense issued a memo last week that states it intended to begin blocking network access -- including that of soldiers serving overseas -- to several popular "Internet entertainment sites" from yesterday.
The 12 sites to be blocked, according to a story in the Associated Press, include several large social networking and media sharing sites like MySpace, YouTube, MTV, Pandora, and Photobucket.
The Department of Defense cite security reasons. So does China with what their citizens can see on the World Wide Web. I doubt these soldiers and marines want al-Qaeda to know their movements. It's most likely to stop the negative PR from graphic images of dead Iraqis.
Update: a reader pointed out that the DoD official reason for not allowing access to Myspace and Youtube is bandwidth. Not security reasons.
