Young Republicans Obama Attack Ad

Apparently, the Young Republicans think Obama's young Democratic supporters behave like Tweens. You see one girl stomping her feet. Is she mad aat Obama or not being able to get Justin Bieber tickets? The ad doesn't portray twentysomethings realistically. The Republicans that made this ad apparently think young Americans voted for Obama because Ashton Kutchner was a supporter. Does anyone know 3 twentysomethings that actually give a shit about Kutchner.

The actors in ad complain that Obama didn't bring progressive change. My question is are the Young Republicans trying to get twentysomethings like Ezra Klein to vote for Mitt Romney in 2012? A party that supports abstinence-only sex education is going to have a hard time reaching out to the hook up generation.

Young Republicans Get a History Test

Why am I not shocked young conservatives don't know that Ronald Reagan doubled the Social Security tax (which was the correct decision) and traded arms for hostages with Iran. Young Republicans also aren't overly enthusiastic about serving in the military.

Big Racist Tent

More proof that the Republican Party is not a big tent.

Adam LaDuca, 21, the former executive director of the Pennsylvania Federation of College Republicans, wrote on his Facebook page in late July that Obama has "a pair of lips so large he could float half of Cuba to the shores of Miami (and probably would.)"

LaDuca, who previously had called Martin Luther King Jr. a "pariah" and a "fraud," also wrote: "And man, if sayin' someone has large lips is a racial slur, then we're ALL in trouble."

The College Republicans asked LaDuca to resign after his remarks were publicized by the Pennsylvania Progressive, a blog written by a Democratic committeeman from Berks County. The group announced LaDuca's resignation on its Web site Friday

If anyone that thinks the party of Tom Tancredo, Trent Lott, Pat Buchanan, and Richard Nixon runs on racism. Republican nominee John McCain voted against Martin Luther King Day as a national holiday. McCain was in the minority of his own party in voting against the holiday.

Most glaringly, McCain as a young congressman in 1983 voted against a federal holiday for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Most Republicans in the House voted for the holiday (89 voted for the holiday, 77 opposed), though all three Arizona House Republicans were opposed. Reps. Dick Cheney, R-Wyoming, and Newt Gingrich, R-Georgia, voted for the holiday. (Cheney had voted against it in 1978.)

Even Cheney and Gingrich voted for MLK Day. McCain used the lame excuse that the holiday would be too expensive.

Hat tip to Jamelle.

Hip To Be Square

Mitt Romney won the Young Republicans National Convention in Hollywood, Florida. Fred Thompson came in second and Rudy Giuliani finished third.

Kids, this is the future of American politics. It's hip to be square and a young Republican.
