Mitchell Wade News

Times have been tough on everybody's favorite lobbyist Mitchell Wade. He was forced to plead guilty to bribery, use of interstate facilities to bribe, tax evasion, and conspiring to deprive the Defense Department of the honest services. Wade is testifying against Brent Wilkes as part of his plea bargain deal. Wilkes has political connections with Tom Delay, John Doolittle and Kyle Dustin "Dusty" Foggo. Men whom have been involved in their own scandals.

Wilkes was a defense contractor. He used Duke Cunningham to get projects for ADCS Inc. The Cunningham has already pleaded guilty. Wilkes is fighting his charges. Wade explains the relationship with Wilkes.

Asked several times by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Forge, Wade said he made hundreds of thousands of dollars each year from Wilkes. He said Wilkes got millions in government work.

And asked how that happened, Wade repeatedly gave a two-word answer: “Duke Cunningham.”

Wade told Assistant U.S. Attorney Jason Forge how Cunningham hit him up for a $50 thousand bride.

He recounted that at one meeting in October 2001 at a Washington marina, Cunningham asked Wade for $50,000.

“Did you view that request as a burden, or an opportunity?” Forge asked.

“Opportunity,” (Wade) responded. He paid the bribe – routing the money through a New York mortgage company – and soon started getting government work with Cunningham's help. In fact he supplanted Wilkes and, in some cases over the next four years, ADCS was a subcontractor to MZM, he said.

In other news: the Federal Election ruled the Wade must pay a $1 million fine for making illegal campaign contributions. Wade used $78,000 of MZM corporate money to reimburst employees that made campaign contribions to Katherine Harris and Virgil Goode. Campaign donations are limited to $500. Wade attempted to get around the law to win influence.

Harris and Goode are in no legal trouble because of the contributions. They should be consider themselves lucky. Harris's changing stories about dining at Citronelle doesn't pass the laugh test.

Draft Katherine Harris

The parody Katherine Harris website is the best thing the Florida Democratic Party has done in quite sometime.

Hat tip to Lee Nelson.

She's Back

Kitty Harris

Katherine Harris spoke at the the Family Impact Summit. It is a gathering for Christian Right activists. Harris advised people to follow politics. She just doesn't want them to read newspapers.

She told them to educate themselves on the upcoming presidential race, but not to read newspapers. "They're not going to write stories in the newspapers that are news, they'll editorialize," she said.

Short answer: Kitty is saying Jesus wants you to watch Fox News.

No Democrat Straw Poll For Florida

Democrats have decided not to have a Presidential straw poll. I say good. These polls are meaningless and are a distraction for the candidates. Let us not forget Katherine Harris's momentous victory over Bill Nelson in the Lakeland Bi-Annual in the Park straw poll. The funniest thing is how many Freepers took the straw poll as proof Harris would win.

I love how everybody is counting her out but I think the MSM and everybody will be in for a bit of a shock on election night. I still say the GOP holds even or could pick up a seat or two after all is said and done in the House & Senate.

Election day didn't work quite that way for the GOP or Harris. When Freepers see bad Republican polling numbers they blame the media for liberal bias. When Republican lose election Freepers claim the media was giving the Democrats their support through liberal bias. There are also Chicago Cubs' fans that think trading Greg Maddox to the Braves was a good idea.

All straw polls do is make insiders in both parties feel important. They do not win elections for candidates.

Why Katherine Harris Is Not A Serious Candidate

Mike at Florida News writes:

Congresswoman Katherine Harris: Harris says Nelson (ignoring Martinez) has "come up with a worse solution that keeps Congress in charge."

Multiple newspapers have already acknowledged that the Nelson-Martinez plan, which would make a permanent ban, best protects Florida's coast. It's a shame Harris cares more about politics than she cares about doing something for Florida.

Jeb Bush lost the first time he ran for Governor. A big reason was his opponent was Lawton Chiles. The second major reason was his pro-offshore drilling platform. Jeb didn't win many voters from the left or middle because of that. Jeb changed his tuned when he ran against Buddy MacKay.

Harris has always struck me as politically tone deaf. Floridian voters don't want offshore drilling. Republicans holding state won't touch this. The woman is not even smart enough to lie about her support for oil expansion in the Gulf. She just handed Nelson a hot button issue to use against her.
