Anti-Tea Party Protest at Fairgrounds

There will be an anti-tea party protest at the Florida State Fairgrounds on Monday September 12, 2011 at 6 p.m.

Bishop Tavis Grant, who is the national field director for Rev. Jesse Jackson, is scheduled to speak at the 6 p.m. rally, along with representatives from Awake The State, the Black Democratic Caucus “and representatives from various progressive groups.”

The protest is the coincide the the Republican presidential debate and the presence of the Tea Party Express at the Fairground. The progressive protest is being called a "Rally of Conscience."

The organizers of the protest want Republicans "wedge issues" and "divisive rhetoric." That isn't going to happen. Republicans would have a hard time getting elected without God, guns, gay marriage and abortion. Imagine Republicans running strictly on the neoconservative foreign policy that got the United States into Iraq. How about Republicans running on the deregulation platform that resulted in the bailout. Republicans would be left with the very wealthy and there aren't enough of those voters to win national elections.
