More Info: The people of New Roots News and The Studio@620 would like to invite you to Contribute, a public event focused on the significance of community participation to be held at The Studio@620 on Wednesday July 27 at 7 PM. Admission is free and open to the public.

Contribute also celebrates New Roots one year mark of publishing, as well as the flourishing partnership between New Roots and The Studio@620. New Roots' staff is proud to c...all The Studio@620 home, with its office in the studio's facilities. And www.newrootsnews.org now hosts The Studio Review, the studio's official journal.

The goal of Contribute is not only to inform people about the importance of community participation, but to connect people and offer contributor opportunities. This is a fun, casual event that we hope will unite like-minded people: people who want to get involved with St. Petersburg and don't know where to start, and people who are already involved and want to help others do the same.

Contribute includes: social time where attendees can schmooze with their neighbors; keynote speakers touching on different aspects of community involvement; a tasty performance by local jazz favorite Nate Najar; and a scrumptious spread provided by JoEllen Schilke, owner of The Globe Coffee Lounge.

Speakers include Bob Devin Jones, co-founder and artistic director of The Studio@620; David Warner, editor of Creative Loafing Tampa; Brian Bailey, publisher of I Love The Burg; Lily Reisman, Co-Founder of New Roots News; Alexis Meyer, field photographer and Co-Editor of New Roots’ Community section; Ihasha Horn, writer and Co-Editor of New Roots’ Community section; Arielle Stevenson, DJ of the Artful Dodgings show on WMNF 88.5 FM Community Radio; and Frank Strunk III, renowned artist and "Strunkian" metalworker.

So come hang out with your neighbors, eat good food, learn about contributing in your community, and be merry!
