Tas and I joked if Obama would cave in on the tax cuts during the lame duck session or the new congress. Tas said lame duck.
Obama blamed the Republicans for the impasse by stating the GOP is only concerned about tax cuts for the rich. Obama should have made that argument before the deal.

I said Obama would cave? I believe it.. I don't remember, but I've also said a lot of crappy comments about Obama lately. Not taking any of them back, either.
I'm split on the tax issue, but still taken aback at how spectacularly Obama can lose in DC. Instead of sending Republicans to the wolves by saying to the American people, "Hey, it's them who cut unemployment benefits all to give tax cuts to the rich" -- and what kind of tard CAN'T win a political battle with that line?! -- Obama instead allows the GOP to use their stance against unemployment benefits as a bargaining chip to launch Bush's tax cuts into perpetuity. Obama burned a huge campaign promise here. Epic failure is fucking epic.
The thing that really kills me, though, is the Democrats complete ignorance to how the tax code is being used. Killing Bush's tax cut on the upper 2% of income earners would have adversely effected a lot of small businesses, since small business owners declare much of their business profits as personal profits. It's cheaper to run a business that way. All the Obama administration had to do (and they've had two fucking years to fucking do this!) is say, "Here's the new small business tax -- it's exactly the same as their current tax rate." Pass that, then revoke the Bush tax cut for the non-small business 2% of income earners. And there you have it -- Obama could claim he protected small businesses AND made good on a campaign promise. I mean, is this shit really that fucking difficult? Hello, McFly? Hello, competency? Hello, SPINE?!
What galls me the most is Obama's total lack of leadership adding to instability in the economy. I know liberals make fun of this, but instability really is a factor. Until tonight, I didn't know what tax bracket I'd be in a mere three weeks from now -- nor did millions of small business owners, who were wondering if it's safe to make purchases to invest in their businesses. But Health Care "Reform" adds extra business instability since nobody knows what health coverage prices will balloon to next year. All this instability is due to Obama waiting way too long to decide what to do with the Bush tax cuts; and caving into GOP demands on Health Care Reform, thus forcing through a craptacular bill.
The first two years of this Obama administration have been a complete and total shitshow. I don't think he can recover in time for 2012. Obama's already been neutered by the Republicans and he's practically a lame duck at this point, I think it's time some Democrats publicly ask him to bow out of the 2012 campaign.
