Profile In Courage Bill Nelson: Health Care Edition

Miami-Dade Democratic Chairman B.J. Chiszar is pressuring Sen. Bill Nelson to support the public option.

"THE FIGHT ISN'T OVER JUST YET! THE SENATE MUST ACT NOW!

I am instructing everyone of you and your families & friends to place 1 call to Senator Bill Nelson's office in Tallahassee (ask for Pete Mitchell)....850-942-8415 - Tell them that if they want the Democratic voters in Miami-Dade to vote for him in 2012 and do not want Chairman BJ Chiszar to find a primary opponent, then we expect him to support a Senate Bill with a public option. The Miami office (less effective to call) is 305-536-5999!"

I actually think it is a good idea to run a primary opponent against Nelson. He won't have Katherine Harris to run against again. Nelson is charisma-challenged and morally weak. Nelson was one of the 12 Democrats to vote for the infamous torture bill. The bill literally gave President Bush the power to disregard the Geneva Conventions. This is actual language from the bill.

(b) The Military Commissions Act defines certain prohibitions of Common Article 3 for United States law, and it reaffirms and reinforces the authority of the President to interpret the meaning and application of the Geneva Conventions.

Nelson voted to give President Bush more power to torture. I hope he is proud of himself.

Good post. Sen. Nelson is very weak on the highly politicized issues that we care about. He has supported Pres. Bush on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to include support for torture. Now, lets look at how weak kneed he is on the Public Option.
