Bill O'Reilly Doesn't Understand Libel Laws

Bill O'Reilly fails to understand the First amendment doesn't protect him from others voicing negative opinions against him. When someone saying things that are factually inaccurate that is libel. Example: Bill O'Reilly has secret gay lovers. That can be proven inaccurate in a court of law. O'Reilly's problem is left-wing web sites quoting the bizarre things he says. That isn't libel. That is O'Reilly's own words being used to show his factually inaccurate statements.

O'Reilly repeatedly claimed his former show Inside Edition won the Peabody award.

“Well, all I’ve got to say to that is Inside Edition has won, I believe, two Peabody awards, the highest journalism award in the country,” O’Reilly said on his Fox News program on May 8, 2000.

Two weeks later, when an antagonistic guest was needling O’Reilly for his tabloid past, O’Reilly relied on the supposed multiple Peabody awards to demonstrate his journalistic credentials.

We won Peabody Awards,” O’Reilly said. “A program that wins a Peabody Award, the highest award in journalism, and you’re going to denigrate it?”

The tabloid show never won a Peabody. O'Reilly backtracked from his previous statements and left an angry voice mail with Oregonian columnist Peter Ames Carlin.

“For you to write in your column that I repeatedly said I won a Peabody Award is absolutely untrue, all right?” O’Reilly said in his message. “I know you would want to correct something like that.”

O'Reilly said "we" (including himself) when refering to Inside Edition's bogus Peabody wins. That isn't libel. It is factually accurate reporting.

For the record: I don't believe or implying if O'Reilly has secret gay lovers.

Didn't you see the cover of the Globe at your local supermarket this week? Obama has a secret gay lover... Could be Bill O'Reilly.

Decided to watch the video, because I like orturing myself...

Made it to 2:25. I like how:

1) BillO says that him being called a "bigot" is tantamount to libel

2) He brings on two lawyers to tell him what libel is, and then disagrees with them. Uhm, hey BillO, where's your law school degree?

3) Then he turns to the African American lawyer and says something like, if I were black like you, I could sue for libel. Uhm, isn't that a BIGOTED statement?

Jesus. What a trifecta of fucktardary. How does BillO keep a straight face while spouting off this crap, or is he really just that stupid?

Keith Olbermann says he runs into Sean Hannity all the time and they have no problem conversing. Olbermann said on Bill Maher's show most Fox News host say a lot of things they don't believe in to keep a high paying job. O'Reilly is known for his public outbursts. On some level I think he really believes he is the victim.
