Christine Todd Whitman Tells GOP to Drop Homophobia
Christine Todd Whitman calls on the Republican Party to drop banning gay marriage from the party platform. Whitman also supports gay and lesbians serving in the military.
“Well, I am somebody who believes in the separation of church and state and that the government, frankly, ought to be out of the business of marriage entirely,” Whitman told CNSNews.com after her speech.
Whitman gives an eloquent plea for tolerance to Log Cabin Republicans.
“I am not saying to Christian conservatives, ‘There is no place for you,’” said Whitman. “I am saying, ‘Please stop saying there is no place for us.’
"Great quote by Christie Todd Whitman," Meghan McCain wrote on Twitter.
The question is how will President Barack Obama react to Whitman and former John McCain campaign Steve Schmidt coming out in favor of gay marriage. The cultural landscape is changing. Obama wanted change. Obama is now forced to deal with change.
