Jeb Bush Throws His Name In Senate Race

Jeb Bush is in.

Martinez announced Tuesday that he will not seek reelection in 2010. Asked whether he was interested in running for the seat then, Bush told Politico by e-mail Tuesday night: “I am considering it.”

My experience is a pol with Jeb's clout doesn't say he is "considering it", unless he plans on running. Bush can have a staffer throw his name out for that. Jeb is speaking because he needs to start greasing his fundraising machine. When Jeb is done considering things; there will be no other candidate that will be able to compete with the Bush fundraising machine.

Bush is right about how the GOP needs to expand their base.

Bush said conservatives should “do the math of the new demographics of the United States,” explaining that the Republican Party “can’t be anti-Hispanic, anti-young person — anti many things — and be surprised when we don’t win elections.”

I agree with Sinfonian: Bush's desire to effect education on a national level is terrifying.

"What I saw was that 90 percent of the energy went to undermining our public schools with vouchers and charters," said Jim Warford, Bush's former chancellor of K-12 education.

The race for Mel Martinez's seat is Jeb Bush and Alex Sink. No other candidates have shown the political skills to defeat these Sink or Bush in the primaries. Although, I got a good laugh hearing Ginny Brown-Waite being mentioned.
