Florida Democratic Primary Still on Jan. 29th

Florida Democratic Party Chairwoman Karen Thuman said there are no plans to move the primary from the Jan. 29th date.

"All of the Democratic candidates will be on the ballot on Jan. 29.," Thurman said. "Go vote. Choose who you want."

Florida won't have dlegates at the Democratic National Covention. Thurman is telling voters to go to the polls. She wants media coverage of the turnout. That is a horrible GOTV sales pitch.

Democratic candidates are getting around the DNC pledge by visiting on fundraisers.

Three days after signing a pledge not to campaign for Florida's presidential primary, the leading Democratic candidates are moving forward with their campaigns here.

Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama are scheduled in Miami this weekend. Then, Clinton has five events in Florida next Monday. Obama's campaign has fundraising stops scheduled for Tampa and St. Petersburg later this month.

If Jeremy Wallace was paying attention, the pledge allowed candidates to make fundraising visits to Florida. The candidates are going to stretch the wording of the pledge. Clinton and Obama do not want to alienate Floridians. Howard Dean is not going to get into a feud with the two leading candidates. That would be political suicide for the party and Dean. It's interesting that two candidates have more cloat than the entire Florida Democratic Party.
