Quinnipiac University has a poll on how presidential candidates rank in Florida.
Democratic Primary
Hillary Clinton - 49 percent
Barack Obama - 13 percent
John Edwards - 7 percent
Al Gore - 7 percent
Republican Primary
Rudolph Giuliani - 29 percent
John McCain - 23 percent
Newt Gingrich - 14 percent
Mitt Romney - 6 percent
I see the McCain numbers going down and Romney's numbers going up. McCain is losing independents because of his less-than-straight talk on Iraq. Romney is making the right moves in locking up GOP operatives and fundraising. McCain is banking on Bush successfully executing the surge. Bad bet.
On the Democratic side, I still don't see Gore announcing his candidacy. It would makes things tougher on Hillary and many voters happy. Obama is the one to watch. If his numbers go up then Hillary is in trouble. If they don't the Terry McAuliffe fundraising machine will bury the other candidates. And no, I'm not banking on a 11th hour Joe Biden miracle.
My advice is don't take this poll too seriously. Things can change between now and New Hampshire.
