Hillary's Image

Sometimes I wonder if Hillary Clinton is still living in the 90s. The days before the netroots when the Lincoln Bedroom was a cash cow.

We hear she'll be at the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood Feb. 20 for a $100-per-person cocktail party and $2,500 photo op reception. She's also supposed to come to downtown Tampa either Feb. 20 or 21 to raise money.

One of the reasons Hillary is horrible at connecting with people is she's not like regular people. She's been a Governor's wife, First Lady and Senator. She's used to a life a privilege and yes sir people. People such as John Edwards and (for all his failings) George W. Bush can come off as everyman to the voters. It's no secret those men are rich. Nancy Pelosi is wealthy, but can communicate with people. She wouldn't be House Speaker if she couldn't. Americans view her as a former housewife who sacrificed to raise her kids and then got into politics. Pelosi does a good job portraying herself as a friendly grandmother. Image is everything in politics.

I remember The Daily Show lampooning Hillary at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. Jon Stewart showed a shot of her drinking champagne with Chelsea. That is the image many Americans have of Hillary. She is so insulated that she isn't trying to change that public perception.
