Tom Lee: Man of the (Big Business) People

The Republican Party of Florida is using abortion as a wedge issue against Alex Sink. The Chief Financial Officer has no say in federal abortion laws, but Republicans desperately need the Christian Right to vote in force. Considering how Charlie Crist is flip-flopping on abortion and did not support state intervention on Terri Schiavo - this doesn't sound like a winning tactic.

What does matter is how the Chief Financial Officer will treat middle class and poor Floridians. Tom Lee has a 1 rating with the Florida AFL-CIO. That is the lowest possible score. Lee is also against affordable housing.

Lee is also a nasty campaigner. Republican CFO candidate Randy Johnson complained of Lee's push polling.

Someone's put a push poll in the field, and Randy Johnson's isn't happy.

The Celebration Republican and candidate for chief financial officer says GOP voters began receiving phone calls asking their opinions on the CFO primary last night. While asking questions, Johnson says, the caller spreads negative information about himself and positive information about his opponent, Senate President Tom Lee.

That's some compassionate conservatism.
