Katherine Hariis Condems Nelson For Voting Against Imaginary Bill

Katherine Harris is blaming Bill Nelson for America's dependence on foreign oil. Harris criticized Nelson for voting against drilling off the Florida’s Atlantic coastline. The problem was that it was impossible for Nelson to vote on a bill that never existed.

“That’s just flat out false,” said Bryan Gulley, Nelson’s campaign spokesman. “Make her show you that piece of legislation because there was no piece of legislation.”

Harris was referring to a Senate bill to expand drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. The boundary provisions were negotiated by Florida’s Republican senator, Mel Martinez, with Nelson’s support. The bill does not mention the Atlantic coastline, where there is a moratorium on drilling until 2012.

Harris is also trying to say she's pro-alternative sources of energy and wants to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Drilling in the Refuge would not change America's dependence on foreign oil. Porcupine caribou and muskoxen would be threatened by oil development. Judging by Harris's environmental record, she doesn't care.
