Feel the Love
Florida Republicans got what they deserved by going after Alex Villalobos for supporting the popular class-size amendment and siding against vouchers. All to please out-going Governor Jeb Bush. Bush's education policies have been a failure and they know it. Try as as Bush might to prop Frank Bolanos up as an opponent, Villalobos won his seat. There is no repercussion from voters on supporting the class-size amendment. Republicans should get over their in-house fear of the Jebs, Cheneys and Tom Delays of the world. It really would be much better for their party.
Things get more embarrassing for Republicans. Villalobos has no Democrat to run against. Which means he automatically wins another term. The Republicans are acting like Villalobos stills owes them.
"We'll have to see how the leadership and more specifically how Alex Villalobos handles it,'' Cardenas said. "If he's gracious in victory and is willing to move on, then things will be fine. If he's very upset and wants to make a statement and try to reallign the forces in the senate then it could become a problem for us."
I think Villalobos will play ball now that Jeb isn't around to badger him. The Republicans, in the State Senate, should have thought about this before they fell on the sword for a lame duck Governor.
