That Pounding Sound

The battle to take over Ron Klein's Florida State Senate seat his getting hot. Irving Slosberg and Ted Deutch debated the merits of pounding tables.

"I take care of constituent problems, which means your problems in the district," said Slosberg, adding he regularly puts in 18-hour days.

He said he often "pounded on the table" to get things done, including helping Century Village near Boca Raton resolve a post-Hurricane Wilma insurance dispute.

Deutch, a Boca Raton attorney who has been active in campaigns but never run for office, suggested Slosberg hasn't shown leadership.

"Success doesn't come merely from pounding on tables. It comes from commanding the respect of your peers," Deutch said.

No word if Slosberg and Deutch settled the argument with paper, rock and scissors.
