The Raise

I expect that the Florida State Senate will vote themselves a raise. Just not before the elections.

Sen. Mandy Dawson, D-Fort Lauderdale, has introduced Senate Bill 2056, a measure as brief and blunt as it is self-vetoing. It states that every member of the Legislature will be paid $50,000 a year. They currently make $29,916 - except for the presiding officers, who get $41,484 - so this might have a hard time meeting the straight-face test.
